To debug a 2015 Golf, I connected a volt meter to the yellow/violet and ran the engine. Voltage starts at 1.6 but the fan doesn't spin. When the engine gets warmer, voltage increases to 4.3 & the fan turns on. If additional cooling is reqd, the voltage increases to 6.3 and the fan spins faster.
So what did you do, did you replace the whole fan assembly? I ask because mine just did the same thing, twice. After disconnecting the connector and putting it back together, fans operate as they should for a while. But after driving the car for a while they stop working. Redid the connector again and fans are back on. Should I replace them?

I have a 09 Jetta 2.5 when the fans kick on with or without the AC on both fans go to full speed and are loud.
