I offered to buy my 5 year old a real guitar as we were jamming around with toys in her room. She said "Girls don't play guitar Dad, only boys do." I said "Nuh uh! I'll show you my favorite!" Thanks Kaki for being not only a girl that plays but, a bad ass one!
god knows how many times i have watched this
There is probably a comment on this vid from maybe 8 years ago with my name on it. You can listen to a song many many times in 8 years :)
Shoshy Boo real passion is something to be in aw of and observe in repetitive patterns.
this young lady has got some serious talent, salute
@xdearfromxxx
Mhm what does this have to do with metalheads? Everyone who likes listening to music (doesn't matter what genre you prefer) can, or should be able, to appreciate a nice tune =).
Kind regards ;)
Kaki King uses a full size guitar. I saw her in a video telling the audience that those fortunate enough to meet her after the show should refrain from remarking on her shortness ... that the stage was like an optical illusion giving her height and that her guitar was not oversize it's just that she is small. She was quite philosophical at points and engagingly funny. Excellent performer and such a talent!
In an interview Kaki did with Premier Guitar Mag in July 2010 the strings she uses on her acoustics are listed as .012-.053 Elixir Polywebs.
This might be the nicest thing I ever heard from a single guitar. Perfect song.
i adore her sincerety. this girl's got a soul.
this has to be the best version of this song. she really gave it her all in this performance not that she doesn't in general but this versions my favorite
This is still the craziest playing I’ve ever seen. Love this song it has a melodic charm to it that never gets old
Kaki King, one of the most amazing guitarists I've ever come across. And I'm glad I did.
Never gets old
Absolutely beautiful!!!!

A new find on youtube.
I'm stoked.
My partner suggested Isearch for this artist. She was so right.
Amazing humble playing.
I was struck by by how competent but non-flashy this music was.
Absolutely brilliant.
Keep shining.
Luv and Peace.
2024!!! C'est une merveille ce morceau Kaki
Tu étais venu à Marseille en France il y a quelques années
Le concert que tu avais donné était exceptionnel !!!
Merci
I remember watching Sunday Arts and thinking how lucky I was for seeing such talent!
That was the first time I saw or heard of Kaki King, and now I own two of her albums.
No kidding. She is incredible- I've just discovered her and I keep coming back to watch these videos. Amazing player.
This was the first time i ever heard of Kaki King and now she is my favorite guitarist. She is one of the top guitar kings.
Great song! I wish it was on google play store! The acoustic version is so much richer than the album version.
I really can't stop listening to this. I think I'm going to try to learn how to play it....but yes, I love this song. I've listened to it so many times today and it's been stuck in my head - it's really the only thing keeping me sane at work.
One of my all time fav tune. I learned how to play this once but forgot em all 😂 it’s too hard now lol
It looks like an Ovation Elite TX 1778TX-4CS.
I use Ovation guitars , have 4 of them. Love the unique tonality and projection of both bass, and treble harmonics.
This song/video is the literal definition of beautiful
One of the most exciting guitar masterpiece I've ever seen.. 5 star to you kaki
I love to to hear Kaki play guitar.
I'm so obsessed with this song. Kaki King is wonderful.
Amazing! This is the best version of Goby I've seen on TH-cam or anywhere else.
15 years and will never forget this song
Micheal Hedges and Kaki King -- two of my fav acoustic stars. She is Fn awesome .. never fails to inspire and impress.
Her music is both beautiful and odd. I'm totally in-love with her guitar playing! Amazing...
Wow ~ such an amazing guitar player! I assumed Kaki King would be much older. So gifted, and her playing is a true gift to us all.
Saw her perform this live and she was amazing!
can't stop listening to this...amazing.
So beautiful. So talented. Mesmerizing!
There's two things kaki king has proven by this video :
1. Her control over the purity of the acoustic sound
2. Her exceptional skill in fingerpicking as well as guitar in general. The attention to all the little touches in the song just goes to show.
I don't want to hate on your comment at all. Music is here for us to love or not. All I want to say is, this is not Acoustic music. It's more electric than rock and roll. That's one man's opinion. She's very talented. Good music. It doesn't suck... it's just not acoustic.
Hands down my favorite version of this song! I wish I could download it.
Oh, she is so good.I am so glad that I discovered her.
Wow, this is not what I expected, this is quite simply amazing.
It´s so magic.
This is unbelievable. She emits much feeling with what she plays.
2016 and I'm still listening to the Kaki's 2nd best to Doing the Wrong Thing.........
i love how its based around a single lick but it never get old or repetitive. even though its almost 4 minuets long.
beautiful riff jazz fusion with alittle flamenco.....unique and soulful!!
toujours un plaisir de ré-écouter goby c"est tellement beau...
beautiful...music to my ears...thank you, kaki
that sound is not so much from the strings as it is from guitar itself, pickup and preamp..if you like this sound check out ovation roundback guitars, they usually have this kind of punchiness and plastic feel to it,because they make back of guitars round shaped form some kind fiberglass,so from that you get this unique sound.i think kaki also uses ovation but i'm not sure...anyway google it if you wanna know more :)
Wow! I am in love! Finger-pickin', polytonal harmonic, rhythm slappin' l-o-v-e!! Such a rich sound!! Kudos, Props, and appreciation - you got it! NEW fan here!
Wish she'd tour PacNW would loved to see her in a small venue where you could appreciate the delicacy of her playing
Oh my god, Kaki King is amazing, coming from a guitarist with a similar style and tuning, she is awesome
one of my favorite guitarists
nostalgic..time flies but still beautiful

Wow she's amazingly talented and beautiful to boot
mind is blown! absolutely love this...
Awesome every time !
@fanielsexy: Hey just wanted to let you know...the style of music is not called "drifting". "Drifting" is the title of one of Andy Mckee's songs that got really popular. It's called finger-style...I don't know how it happened but I've been seeing a lot of people refer to this as "guitar drifting" lately...haha and there's no such thing =)
Hello. I've included a link to a fine interview Kaki did with Premier Guitar Magazine in the info section under the clip screen. She talks about her fingernails and lots of other stuff.
Have a bunch written down, not complete yet as I got sidetracked by some home projects, but I will finish the song at some point and get the tab to this site for sure.
un moment exceptionnel!!! une grande maitrise de la guitare... un vrai plaisir!!!! ;-)
Utterly Amazing.
I like her music [gtr piece] she plays very calm & collected/ music to me is very moving /good listening music/ definate favorite artist
olé Kaki!de la sensibilité ,cette nana!c'est vraiment bien!!!toujours aussi cash,et fin, sweety et groovy, elle s'est vraiment donné et faire passer sa zique avec un énorme feeling!ostil
Actually, you're dead wrong. The pickups are actually quite good on Adamas guitars. The unique (and some would argue un-acoustic) sound comes from the design of the bowl body, synthetic materials, and top vibrations. It's the guitar itself that sounds like that, and would sound similar if you had a high quality condenser pointed at the 12th fret.
I just fell in love
Thanks for coming to Hobart... come back soon. Love your talent, so good. Ps. nice to meet you... forgot to ask how you keep your right finger nails so 'intact'?
my favorite artist nowadays
does anyone know if she releases her stuff on vinyl at all? thx(btw this is mind blowing=)
Maravilhosa! Tem o meu respeito 👏
Esplêndido.
Kaki King is amazing!! How did she get so good?
Can't just be practise, she has a gift.
What kind of strings does she use? I really dig the sound she gets out of them; if someone can give me an educated guess that would be greatly appreciated :-)
She's not playing Ovations per se, but Adamas by Ovation, which although from the same makers are a very different guitar.
Primarily the top is carbon graphite and has the tone that so many top players choose, as opposed to the wood topped Ovations.
The piezo sound you've had a problem with has to do with their choice of pickup and most of the upper line Ovations and Adamas come with a better sounding system now.
Does anybody know the tuning of her guitar for this song? I want to learn it so bad, this one of the most captivating pieces of music I've ever listened to!
Brilliant piece beautifully played.
Would love to see a tab of this and have a go myself but I fear it's out of my reach.
Got to love her style of playing.
Damn what tuning does she use again? It has to be something bizarre. very outside sounding chords... something I always loved about her playing.
this is just fantastic
Love her. She did a song with Melissa Ferrick, Headphones On. Its great. Two amazing guitarists
Never geard of her. She is wonderful
So insanely talented...
uauuu!!! maravilhoso! perfeito! parabéns!
Omg !! Who did the thumb down ? It s so beautiful ...
God bless the Tappers. Preston Reed and Michael Hedges were the first I ever heard. They just coming up with new ideas and tunings. Kaki is wonderful imho.
I'm in love with this.
GORGEOUS!
it was at a music festival (southbound) in Perth, Australia :D:D
not many people saw her though :(.. they don't know what they were missing ;)
Wow. Some awesome playing. This girl is a gift of god to our world )
I just like to see an artist really getting into what they're playing.
When i first heard the name i thought it was a man but when i clicked on her songs i was like "Wait what? its a Woman!!!" and it makes me feel proud that women like us(if ur a female) can make a change positively and intensely through god given talent and a little RoCk!!!!!!! u go girl
Wonderful Playing!
Now I'm a FAN!
this should have as many views as one of Andy McKee's video's
its definitely of that quality
The undersaddle pup they use is form fitted to the saddle and provides better string response than most. It's not unlike other undersaddle pups in tone. The real difference comes from the carbon fiber top and bowl design. It makes the bass sound almost "brassy" and the high strings are somewhat trebly with a pronounced high end. Adamas guitars are not meant to be "traditional acoustic" sounding. I suppose it comes down to a personal preference thing, but there's nothing wrong with the pups, haha
What instrument is that?
Very difficult to say, but after hours of investigations and some scientific experiments, you could probably say it's a six stringed guitar with steel strings. But I'm not sure though. Need some more research.
bob_the_blob wood and strings, interesting. I shall tell my people on my planet
Amazing talented guitarist, something different
I'm watching in 2020!! I used to love this song. 13 years later and I'm so happy I remembered it!!
I'm still coming back to this song ;D
