I swear Michael when you said you'd taken a lot of my time I thought "nah, 'twas but eleven, twelve minutes tops"...
It passed like a breeze and was very fun and very informative. Just ordered some Pirazzi Greens so to have an idea of these modern strings. Whenever one gets a good violin, that's when you can actually compare all these superb sets! Perpetuals will have their turn.

I think fiddler man have the most complete violin string rewiew ever in youtube, Good job fiddler man thanks for sharing the video❤. Btw I like the old one perpetual than cadenza I don't know why but I think perpetual more have character than cadenza.

No apology for the rant, that pretty much sums it up!
and also the video was entertaining Michael.👨🏻
If it cost me $10 or more a month for violin strings, I’m unhappy quite frankly. If I could play like you, I’d probably still feel the same way!

The Perpetual Cadenza are my favorite synthetics, especially because I won't play normal (i.e. high) tension synthetics anymore, and the few lower tension synthetics available are nice but not as good as these IMHO. They remind me of gut in many ways. In short, I love and recommend that anyone should at least try them once. Definitely not "weak" due to the low tension, and high tension is not always "better projection". They are edgy and slightly bright, but also nice, full, rich, and smooth. Very nuanced. Beautiful synthetics!
For the person who mentioned Passione-I like them but for "stability" may as well go for the Cadenza. My preference would be Eudoxa/Oliv (using Oliv right now with a Perpetual Cadenza A, but also love Eudoxa), Cadenza, Gold Label, then Passione. I "should" like Gold Label more than Cadenza, but truly that is how good I think the Cadenza are relative to Pirastro gut strings!
Thanks for the review! More violinists should be aware of this special strings release. Be well.

Yay! Finally a review on perpetual strings from a perpetual funny and cool dude 😉. I have to admit so far I love perpetual strings, and I’m excited to give the cadenza a try as well. However I would be interested to see how the perpetual compares sound wise to the passione strings. May be interesting.... anyways, thanks for a great video that I did not find too long, and have a great day!

I would love it if when you compare different violin strings, you would let us hear what they sound like without vibrato. It's helpful to hear what the string sounds like all by itself, so to speak, without any left-hand hijinks to pretty-up the sound.
Of course such a demonstration would also show how just far even the best synthetic-core strings are from actually sounding like gut-core strings.

Michael, could you please review Vision Titanium Orchestra set. I suppose these strings is a best combination of less tension and clean/powerful/deep tone.

(I believe that was the piece. Maybe Sibelius, haven't listened to the cadenza's in a while)

Michael you are so right! When I was learning in school the only strings we had were Dominant, Red Label, Prelude and Evah Green.
To me from the sounds you play, the Perpetual Original and Cadenza remind me a bit like the Larsen Cannone medium for normal soloist if you wnat that extra kick. With the Perpetuals the Cadenza is medium whereas the Original is if you want that soloist kick.
I'm struggling to find strings that work for my violin, there's so many options now going to fiddlershop I get stuck on what to try
Now you have my curious. Will you ever do Vision Titanium? i've been curious to try them they said it has lower tension than Evah and last longer

Any chance you can do a video on various string brands that have the best/ exceptional "tuning stability"? I had Amber Warchals on for nearly a year (daily practice) and nearly never had to tune. The new (different brand) strings I have put on recently are rubbish in terms of tuning stability. I want to spend time practicing not tuning. What are your thoughts?

I have been very pleasantly surprised by the PI strings in this regard, right out from the box they were in tune and stayed in tune, even through different humidity levels. Love them but they're pretty pricey.

Dude, that wasn't Michael McDonald you were playing on "This is it". It was Kenny Loggins, off his album "Keep the Fire". Although McDonald co-wrote the song with Loggins and may have sung background vocals, it is Loggins' voice clearly in the lead. I haven't heard that song in ages, I'm going to listen to it right now!

Cadenza are lower tension than Obligato.. but with a similar sound to Pirazzi Gold, is that it? My violin sounded best with EP Gold but the tension was too much, maybe these Perpetual Cadenza are the strings for me.

    • @Fiddlershop
      @Fiddlershop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I think you're on to something, David! To my ear Obligatos are still the G.O.A.T for darkness, moving brighter, then Evah Golds, and then Perpetual Cadenzas.

I liked a lot about your video. Fun stuff! Tighten it up though. It would’ve been nice to see a graph of how the strings compare with other premium strings - I think I’m playing Tomastic rondos. I think the viewers would like to see where the strings they are playing fit in with your descriptions. Also my big question is what is the difference between regular strings and premium strings? I guess I’m just looking for a bigger picture before I can understand your focus on one string set. Thanks though, you’re out there doing it, and I’m sitting here eating pizza.

Well, after watching this video, I decided to try the original Perpetuals. They hurt my fingers so much, I couldn't play. They are so stiff, hard to get going, and don't have a nice tone like Evah greens. Put them on my other violin and the G string just wouldn't speak. It was just way too tight. So, I just flushed over $100. Wish there was some kind of string exchange group where people can trade sets that didn't work for their instruments. Hate to throw them away.

I play the Perpetual already an year ( the same package!!!) and I feel almost no difference in the sound quality, compared to the beginning ! I know, it sounds amazing. Usually I change every 6 months, and sometimes earlier, especially the A if aluminum. This strings are so stable an easy to play, and incredibly longlasting. Now I’m just curious how long. Just for info: I come from 10+ years playing Oliv, but Perpetual achieves the 90% of the oliv sound and beats them in every other category.
