I thought Barbara's 'Allo Allo' accent was a necessary part of her 'rural innkeeper voice' otherwise her usual speech is quite refined and might seem suspicious to Barrass. Ian does it too.
This remains a fully engrossing historical. I am not sure ending the season on an historical was the way to go, but it shows the devotion of the producers to the eductational value of the series in 1964. The story was a little mixed. I wasn't happy with Susan's role this time around. It was a step back after the Sensorites. So although there was continuity from one story to the next in this era, the kind of character growth we've grown to expect today was missing from one tale to the next. I liked the surprises this story generated. As I said in the chat, I keep thinking of Tale of Two Cities for some reason. As I reflect on the season, I'm tempted to suggest they needed to swap the placement of the stories, ending with the Sensorites as Susan's 'gift' was highlighted--forshadowing potential for the second year. Of course, by that point, I'm sure Carole Ann Ford was already prepared to leave for greener pastures...but if--IF they'd organized a powerful second year with a serious arc for her character, using the Sensorites as a springboard for her next season, then maybe she could have been swayed to stay. Maybe not. They'd already pulled a bait and switch on her, so...There were fun surprises. Reacting to Napoleon...priceless. I'd react that way. The cast is solid but the story is a bit padded and...rough somehow. Great stream. Your rankings are just right. (Wish I could stick with a live show without regular work getting in the way...) Thanks Jon, Paul, Gary!
Hi Divining Dragon thanks for your comments and your thoughts on Sensorites as the season finale makes sense and you are correct it would have been useful to build on Susan’s abilities from there into season 2. What time are you home from work? I am currently reviewing the upload schedule and I would like to update it so you can watch it when each story goes out and engage with live shows that will be coming down the road. 👍
@@Sci-FiChronicles79 That is kind. I'm not sure my schedule would readily work for you, Paul, and Gary. I'm in Texas on American Central Standard Time. I know that Paul is in the UK at least six hours ahead of me, and Gary is on the American West Coast--two hours behind me. Typically, I make it to school at roughly 8AM each morning, and make it home about 5PM. But that skewers the hours you need to work with your panel. I do practice elder-care and make sure my mother has everything she needs--which sometimes interrupts my availability. Saturdays in the afternoon I tend to be the most available. I do know that Type 40, Tzvi Lebetkin, Who's Views, The Sense Sphere all seem to have busy Sundays, so I'm thinking Saturday may be a way to expand your live viewership. But I just don't know much about how the TH-cam algorithm works. I DO know that I'm really enjoying your reviews! And I want your channel to grow!
Hey, caught up with you! 😀 People sure fall in love quickly in the Whoniverse (Barbara, Susan, Leela). Perhaps its something to do with the lack of peripheral vision that everyone seems to suffer from 😁
Just getting over damn Man-flu , so I needed this. You cheered me up ,thanks guys👍. I remember seeing this when it was first broadcast. I have vague memories of reliving the episodes with school friends. I must confess we were all about the Monsters, so straight Historicals were not our favourites. As an Adult I've learnt to appreciate them, but even now I prefer a Monster in the mix. Nice one 👍👍

Warren I would be more than happy to have Leela fall in love with me 😀👍
Wonderful stuff.
Thanks Steven really appreciate your feedback. 🙂👍
