I can see myself coming back to this video 4 or 5 times, this is my first War Hammer game and it's already so much to take in. Pretty overwhelmed already and I haven't even started. Hopefully this gets easier with time.

It's really a big challenge. I'am already have around 140hrs of WH3 and sometimes i still forget to manage my army in battle. The only reason i still play this game even tho it's frustating and too complex, because i love the character, animation, and lore

The info on how formation locking with Control Groups is absolutely vital to maintaining one's sanity, thank you so much for teaching people about this! I've been cursing this game's relatively antiquated control structure and wondering why there aren't more QOL controls, but evidently there are, they're sort-of hidden/go unexplained and unused in the Prologue. Edit: Also, I think that Threat Level has been updated to be a liiittle bit better. It's still at times downright detrimental, however.

Just looked it up and it helped a lot, melee attack vs defense is [ 35+ (attack - defense)]%= actual hit percent. 70 attack vs 40 defense would be a 65% hit chance (HC). For armour, if R equals a random precent between 50% and 100% is [base damage x (100- armour x R)]+ armor pierce damage]= damage value (DV).... then to be confusing *ward save total (ward save + either physical, missile, or spell=WT) is a % reduction of DV. [DV x WT= true damage total] * charge bonus is a value added to your melee attack for ~15 secs after a charge (70 attack and 20 charge would be 90 attack for 15 secs after charge) *impact is a damage value added to the your damage value during initial charge but it was unclear the value, something about mass, if someone knows can you comment in *also, not sure but one source said possible 10% minimum base damage value leaking through so maybe it's not 50% through 100% but 50% through 90% armour protection, only known minimum is at least 1 damage for any successful hit, again comment please if you are god tier algorithm wizard max XP *MOST IMPORTANTLY, if you take all the different values for attack, defense, and damage, and throw that out the window because you play as Kholek sun eater, the mountain god, herald of the tempest, eldest of dragon ogre, heir of Krakanrok the black, true for-everchosen, you have won the game and are too chad for the mortal nerd math trash.

I JUST started this game a couple days ago, and honestly this is so useful in demystifying the game and getting to learn how to handle the mechanics in battle. It's such a complex and deep game that this is super useful!
This is very well done going over all the basics in a understandable way and covered the most important things to know on the battlefield in an enjoyable way too. Fantastic upload, you have clearly put a lot of effort into this. I would actually suggest that you can leave your lord portrait off since a quick press of the “Home” key on your keyboard will instantly snap your camera to your Lord. Only a minor one but it may help 🤓

Warhammer total war 3 is quite a bit more complicated than other total war games I have played like shogun 2. Glad to see people putting guides out. This game definitely needs them!

Im trying to really sink my teeth into this as i bought the first two and somehow bounced off but decided to pick the third one up as i just love the whole idea of these games and really want to dig into IE at some point. This really did a great job of explaining things, im sure it will still take awhile, but i think this may be the video that really sets me on the path to understanding how to play this monstrosity. so the thing with Ammo is: Each entity per regiment actually has the number of Ammunition that that says.. however, NOT every unit shoots during a Volley. Each Entity actually has a different Shot-to-shot time. Which is why you see after the first volley it begin to stagger out and get to a point where its hardly volleys and some individuals just shoot alone. they all just shoot on their own time instead of in volleys. but each of them do, in fact, only have 20 Shots if it says their Ammo is 20. (edit, wrote this before seeing that you actually said basically what I just said here)

Been playing total war attila and rome for years and Ive just bought this game like a month ago and got me humbled in the first battles. Gotta say i wasnt using any hotkeys and controls as you are describing here. In your production it looks so smooth. Than you very much for this induction...it is truly one of the best I ever saw.I just watched it on one go. Im playing dwarves in IE and I love their defence and brutal artillery. Thank you for this masterpiece man. 👏✌️
I didn't know that artillery crews could operate with a unit of spears standing on top of them. That's very helpful. Can't wait to put that in practice
Can’t recall where in the video, but you mentioned instead of selecting each individual unit to move forward, you select all units, hold alt then click to get them going straight. If you double click does this allow units to automatically attack (say if you clicked behind an enemy with cavalry) or would you need to manually attack each enemy unit to get that “red line” that indicates that unit is attacking. Incredible video btw !
Fantastic practical advice, have played all 3 games but always as a casual so I'm glad I finally understand overcasting, I up until now have never used an overcast spell 🤦♂️

It’s nice when you drag to get formation it places melee in front and ranged in the back selected together without selecting melee or range separately.
archer style trajectory reminds me of mortars and gunpowder reminds me of cannons lots of good info they dont spell out in the game. thanks for the vid.

Do you have any videos on minor settlement battles? Having some issues with these currently, end up lossing most of them when playing manually. So many choke points when i'm attacking, so army ends up in a clump and getting picked of by towers and ranged stuff :>

the thing with the threat lvl - I was using it in the beginning to understand the rock paper scissors mechanic of the game || speer man > cav unit || anti infantri > normal infantari || sure range units have overall medium threat against everything becaus if they come close enought there is no threat -> still a very good video - Im just saying the threat lvl interface is actually very good for beginner because of that said rock paper scissors mechanic in this game

Do you have any videos on minor settlement battles? Having some issues with these currently, end up lossing most of them when playing manually. So many choke points when i'm attacking, so army ends up in a clump and getting picked of by towers and ranged stuff :>

the thing with the threat lvl - I was using it in the beginning to understand the rock paper scissors mechanic of the game || speer man > cav unit || anti infantri > normal infantari || sure range units have overall medium threat against everything becaus if they come close enought there is no threat -> still a very good video - Im just saying the threat lvl interface is actually very good for beginner because of that said rock paper scissors mechanic in this game
