Couldn't agree more. Wendel, by his own admission, doesn't do too well in front of a camera. But the moment the engineering/tech gears start to rotate in his brain, boi does he relax and does a great job in front of the camera. I think this is also true when he's interviewed, say by PcWorld, etc. Well done, #Level1Techs and Wendel.

    I have a 7950X locked to ~80w driving 10 16TB drives and 4 Optane 905P(960GB) for a compact TrueNAS Scale server.
Little did i know that the iGPU requires adding ROCm to get it working with kubernetes/docker/apps.
Little did i know that my dreams would be shattered of an ultra low powered all in one server that can both record live TV with Plex, transcode using CPU on TDARR, and allow me to remotely replace those files from a backup recording server in case either the recording, or transcode failed.
Right now any kubernetes/app cannot access a directory with an active SMB share, the image wont even start up if the SMB service is running.
So still need a seperate machine to record and transcode, and my file-server-only box now has a 7950x, when a 5350GE/12100 would be more than enough for this use case.
I'm just glad they're working on the issue, and i hear TrueCharts are doing something with ROCm, i dont know if its on a per-image basis for their repository(such as TDARR, PhotoPrism, and JellyFin), or if its going to be a ROCm image that enables the GPU for all other images

When I saw Zen4 could support ECC I thought the 7600x could make a nice little server with the iGPU allowing more NVME to cache SATA HDD.
So many seemed to miss the application though the 7600 is better priced MSRP, only where I live the 7600x has fallen below 7600 pricing.
Just knock off a little peak boost frequency, undervolt and restrict the TDP a bit and cooling should be no issue, while losing hardly any performance.

If this had been an option on zen 4 release, it’s probably what I would have gotten. Unfortunately, no reasonable mITX offerings at that time, so I got the X670E ProArt instead. It’s a shame mITX motherboards usually prefer outright wasting capabilities that the CPU and chipset offers, like just throwing away all those extra PCIe lanes instead of letting us use them to stick more M.2s on the back.

ITX is getting crazy these days because of how much they have to cram.
I wonder how different it would have been if those ITX-only "chipsets" like the X300 that AMD once planned were more popular. Maybe we wouldn't have as much insanity with all these daughterboards and breakout cables just to make ITX functional.

The 7900 is simply the 7900X in 65W eco mode. You can enable the eco mode on any of the AMD CPUs, even the 7950X.
People seem to forget ECO mode in these discussions. Just because the 7950X comes at 170W(230W PPT) by default, doesn't mean that you aren't able to configure it down. Same goes for 7900X/7800X/7600X or even 5000 and 3000 CPUs.

I've been trying to pass the iGPU through to a VM since zen4 release, to zero success. If you do figure it out, let me know, but I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you.
What does work is passing through a dGPU with nothing plugged in, while your monitor/TV is connected to the iGPU. Wayland won't crash when you start the VM because that's a separate graphics card, but anything DX11 and up (which thanks to DXVK and Proton includes most games) will be able to use the GPU to render even with nothing plugged in. Similarly a Windows VM can use the GPU to render things it then displays over RDP.

I have since actually gotten a 5700G, and even with a dGPU plugged in, cannot find a way to pass it through to a VM. Even if I had managed, it's not necessarily going to work the same for the zen4 iGPU, given that it's not only a new architecture but an entirely different purpose ("basic diagnostics" vs "low-end graphics card substitute").
Given that it's an iGPU, it's very possible that successfully passing it through depends not just on the CPU, but on the motherboard and BIOS version.

You theoretically can run five PCIe5 NVME on this motherboard. It's not advertised anywhere, but the x16 slot will let you set it to gen5 speeds in the BIOS, and it supports x8/x8 and x4/x4/x4/x4 bifurcation. That's one gen5 M.2 in the marked slot, and then four more on a gen5 breakout card.
The motherboard isn't sold as supporting PCIe5 on the x16 slot, but given that it's a relatively short distance from the CPU and is surface-mount soldered, chances are good it will work, which is probably why the BIOS includes the option. Gen5 x4/x4/x4/x4 bifurcation cards aren't a thing yet either, but given how little time it took between gen4 SSDs entering the market and ASUS selling a gen4 bifurcation card, it's probably not far into the future. Definitely will be expensive though, gen5 pretty much requires a redriver for that sort of thing.

If the F4B BIOS is roughly the same on this board as it is on Gigabyte's others like my B650 Aorus Elite AX... Gigabyte pulled F4B off the site several days ago. I tried it and it was hard to get the system to post consistently with it. Mess with any bios options and it would just crash completely. Luckily, a couple of days ago Gigabyte replaced it with F4 final (non Beta). It works much better, but they left at least one feature out of the BIOS on my board. The ability to disable DDR Power Down is gone. Hopefully it makes a return in the next BIOS version. And yes, running my Hynix M Die DDR 6000 at 6200 is nearly impossible without more voltage than I'm comfortable with.

I'm doing a build with this motherboard at the moment... do you reckon it's worth taking off the stickers of the thermal pads for the m.2 slots i'm NOT using? E.g. I'll be only using the top slot (so obviously i'll take those stickers off), but not the one underneath, or the one around the back. Should i take the stickers off the ones underneath anyway just in case?
Or should i keep it on in case one day i do use it?

Have a request have a unraid server and lockerstor 6704t bit have dual 2.5gb ethernet and looking for a wifi that has dual 2.5 gb, Find that manufactures are using dual 10 gb instead on new equipment and no 2.5gb. Can discuss why this is happening most home users don't need 10 gb and the added cost is not warranted. Looking forward to your response

itx is actually more niche than the impression you might get from all the hype around it.
ppl build itx to have "the smallest" even if it means trade-offs that you wouldn't have if you just accepted the jump from ATX -> µATX as sufficient in terms of less spacious.
itx is hard to keep cool with high end components. compared to µATX the boards have to cut corners (almost literally) to get at least the bulk of stuffs on it that is on the original design. also the price of µATX with the same specs sometimes even UNDERcuts the ATX pendant. while itx is on a whole other level , JUST for the reduction in size. with µATX the reduction in size comes free and you dont get castrated all too much in terms of DIMM slots, USB, VRMs, GPU fit, PSU fit, disk fit....AIRFLOW & features.
YES. there IS a justification for itx for sure. but certainly no other than having to accomodate to furniture that does not offer space for ALREADY existing very slim & tidy µATX cases. apart from dimensions it is a downgrade.
