If they are saving a club from going bankrupt then this is a great idea. A good example would be Dulwich Hamlet who you covered a few weeks ago. If these guys come in and help save the club and give it some stability that would be great, even throw some money into the ground. I would feel bad for a club that doesn’t have any financial issues that would get bought out by this model.
Bit late, 90% sure OWNAFC has gone bust? Like, stopped trading and refusing to refund customers. (Edit, turns out they are still trading, after restarting it, but the situation is a complete shambles)
OWNAFC has already essentially collapsed, virtually everyone who signed up wants a refund but they'll probably have to take Stuart Harvey to the small claims court for it as he's done things like changed the Ts & Cs to delete any mention of refunds, following the failed takeover of Hednesford. He now says he never promised anything but the right to use the app in exchange for the £49; classic scam basically
I do like your channel a lot but in this case, given that Harvey's also been threatening and abusive to customers wanting refunds on social media, I feel like this is a clear-cut enough case to not just go for balance + instead to simply get the word out about how dodgy this whole thing is. No one else needs to throw £49 away (or more!) funding such a clear fraudster in something like this. So, hopefully you'll make a follow up video detailing the legal developments etc
The whole idea is stupid. If it was 10000 people with national coaching licenses then maybe I could understand, but letting almost anybody pay such little money for such a big role is rediculous. Some of these people won't even have ever seen more than s few football games before and some think they'd be brilliant because they won a game on FM19. On the slight chance this does work, it would alienate the community and if they go as far as the football league and have a real transfer budget, it's bound to cause insane issues such as over spending.
BBC reporting today that people are asking for their money back. Apparently the £49 is only for access to the app, not to be an owner. All sounds very shady. Luke, you should try and get to speak with this Harvey chap, see if he will talk to you. If he has nothing to hide, why wouldn't he?
I think the idea is not so stupid. The 1000 owners operating democratically on each decision is though. The idea of a group of shareholders all with the same stake in the company and then delegating the decision making to a Chairperson, is in many ways getting back to grassroots ownership of football clubs. But a local football club where the supporters are also the owner, would be a great step forward and also maybe would save some clubs. Using say modern technology and social media, could mean that people from around the world could help finance a club which could be beneficial, especially if their was a cap on the number of overseas shareholders. I as an Australian could have a share in a team in the UK, it would be amazing to visit the UK on holiday and watch a club that I had a share in play. I think 49 pounds is too cheap, maybe a thousand pounds would be better then one would only need 49 fans to raise the same sort of money, which would be more beneficial. When you have teams like Salford City and Hashtag United, challenging the current paradigm of how a non-league team operates and how they use Social Media, there has to be other so far untried ways to run a football club. Even looking at say how Race Horse Syndicates work or looking at the co-operative model. Maybe rather, than a voting app model, monthly general meetings streamed to members that cant attend in person, where the various sub-committees or manager etc, report on what they have done. Change can be good.
This seems an effective way to start a totally new football club also. From scratch, to 'do a Dorking' and rise up - as well as, challenge the traditional 'chairman-millionaire' ownership - leadership ? A model with variations that has existed since the 1800s, let's be honest. Not a global ownership but members in the local community, pay a year membership and have the app.
I agree that people won't show up. I am a Hashtag United fan. Hashtag has 400,000 sub on youtube, but has normal match attendance. Like you said people can't travel around the world to watch a regular Saturday game.
What happens when more money is required from the 10k owners, as it will be? Sounds like complete nonsense. Also looks like this Harvey chap wants to have some media coverage while running a club with other people's money. As Duncan Bannatyne would say, " and for those reasons, A'm oot"
It's not totally new really is it? It's just like what they did with Ebbsfleet, just app based and with more micro decisions. Even if you give fans benefit of the doubt that they're knowledgeable about football, the micro decisions still might not work if fans aren't seeing games and form in the flesh. I wonder if fans can table motions or lobby the other owners to agree to signings. For instance a local youngster in the tier one or two leagues below banging in the goals makes sense to sign and give a go on the cheap, but would the clubs new found wealth and voting ethics suit common sense management. 2000plus idiots trying to land Zlatan etc. There should be a time limit on votes, reckon you'd end up with a core of people that actually take interest like 300-500 and they'll be the ones with all the power.
Only 3 things are granted in life
1.Death
2.Taxes
3.NLYT to be sponsored by One Football
Or £1 to buy Gateshead
£49 for 10k people is only 490k
It takes a bit more than that to pay for everything.
That’s even IF this happens.
Depends what level

Your channels very under rated. Another great video. Keep up the good work!
The idea wouldn’t be hated as much if they weren’t buying out a club
ItsGiinge depends whether they are saving a club that would go out of business without them...

Rather than Buy a football club why not start a new football club?

It's a pity STiC didn't get bought out then there would now be houses on keys park and no hednesford town fc 😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉
Lots of love PIKEY

This sounds ridiculous. If this happened at Blyth I would honestly hope the fans would rally up against it..

Hey man could we see a video on the North Ferriby United situation where they've been completely wound up over their £8k debt?

Only 7k takes the mic
This already exists in other countries. Look at clubs like Fujieda MYFC in Japan, for example.
This has already happened once in the UK with MYfootballclub with Ebbsfleet.
And Monmouth Town in Wales, Five Pound Football Club
This is pretty much exactly what Ebbsfleet United done about about 10 year ago. Didn't end well.
Plenty of games in the app store rather than messing with a real club.

Not really they're support is one of the best in the league according to them
@@aryanjolly1990 You're right but I guess I mean they don't have Tier 7 attendance at Tier 10. It is in the normal range.
And Tom white from 8th tier of English football to England c team
Can't find the app
He went off with everyone’s money and scammed everyone who thought they were buying shares 🤣
Will there be a North Ferriby vid?
I would be that guy that would backdoor sign their potential player that was being voted on to show how stupid a way that is to buy players.
Isn't that what happened with ebbsfleet and it went to shit...
It just sounds Like Football Manger really so i think thats what people will treat it like so i really dont think it will work if it happens

No the manager should have the not random people
Can you make a reaction to North Ferriby Utd being folded
Colwyn Bay?

sadly, it ended up being a scam in the end.
Waiting for the north ferriby video now take the mic took 6 points off my team Scarborough
Sad to hear about north ferriby
i think this is a cool idea, but i think they should create their own club instead of taking one over
Do a video on millwall losing there land to lewisham council
This is a non league channel, or haven't you noticed?
It appears OWNAFC has ceased trading. What a joke.
Signed up and I plan to pay great idea
You plan to "play" with a community assett??
Non league clubs are not toys silly girl
Hate the idea of management by app. Someone will make money out of this!
They should take over North Ferriby United
NFU have gone bust
