Wow you are always spot on with your guesses, Miros birds are intended to guard the memory crypts! As for why, well it’s kind of in the name. Pretty sure that is the best interpretation one can get out of the information we have. I wonder if the Ancients had a method to connect to those biological hard drives and experience someone elses memories in full VR. It's kind of implied that they could store data for pretty much all senses, not just sound and images.
@@Falkflip That would make sense. One of the example memories given in the shaded pearl is 'eating a very tasty meal' so I would definitely say it includes all senses.
@@Falkflipmy assumption is that the cabinet beasts produce pearls (when fed properly) and it’s called the memory crypts because the beasts which produce Chrystaline memory storage are held there, which would also explain the abundant blank pearls in nearby areas (connected to shaded except the exterior) as being tossed around by rain or carried and dropped or lost by scavengers
I love how everyone who plays Gourmand assumes the one telling the story in the ending IS the Gourmand it is not lol that is a slugpup telling other slugpups about the Gourmand's adventures, then being called away to go see Gourmand
i'd say the slugpup is telling other slugpups about the previous tales of the gourmand, then gourmand returns from this current adventure (the one you're playing)
49:33 you probably guessed it, but that massive building in the background is five pebbles, those towers and industrial structures is everything you were just in, i love this games world design lol
Congrats on beating Gourmand!!! And now, onto Artificer! Unless you feel like trying out Rivulet or Spearmaster already. Oh, speaking of! While Gourmand's and Artificer's campaigns are relatively self-contained lore-wise, Rivulet and Spearmaster dive heavily into lore related to Iterators! Playing Hunter and/or having read the lore from base game lore pearls might help with grasping what's going on, unless you're comfortable jumping into the deep unknown! :] Regardless, I really do recommend Hunter personally, ESPECIALLY if you want a more comfortable way to ease in to Artificer's very combat focused campaign. Hunter is probably one of my favourite campaigns in the game, and it's been there before Downpour even came out! PS. You'll know what "pups" mean if you load your Gourmand savefile once again. :]
I’m a fan of the deep unknown!! Theory crafting based of the environment has been my favourite part of this game!! That being said I’ll definitely look up the pearls once I’m done with this game
@@QuinBoBinalso another reason to try out hunter is the fact that you get the pups appear there as well, it's random where they appear tho so it might take a while to find one.

Genuinely supremely hyped to see more Rain World Quin content - you got me into the game and I must've saved sooooo many little guys by now. One really well behaved pup got dramatically cornered near Drainage System by a Lizard and I managed to swoop in and save the day. They made it all the way to the tree with me after. ❤ (They also got a very hyperactive adopted sibling that basically the opposite, drags me out of important jumps constantly. I called them Yin and Yang. ❤)
This video made my day, I was missing your Rain world videos since it been a 3 weeks. It really felt empty since I was following series since the first video day by day! 52 minutes video and all Gourmand campaign done is a blessing! if you are planning to play artificer, be aware. He is fully focused on combat and explosives. Some people LOVE it and some people hate it. Also it is much more difficult than Survivor&Gourmand. Good luck!
I highly recommand exploring Outer Expanse during Rain time. Especially top of the Tree has an amazing view! Rain world is so brutal yet beatiful and as always you are getting insane lore pieces right. Quin becomes next biggest Rain world lore guy??? like unironically you are thinking about stuff I never thought of during first playthrough. Getting most of them right
The chaotic brawl you had with that spider inside the subterranean shelter is the perfect representation of what rain world does to its players. just an unavoidable surge of adrenaline and panic is all you need to beat every beast
50:21 you already know you can travel back to the tree as survivor however you can also go there as monk and get a really cute and wholesome ending its worth it in my opinion
8:51 Such a mood when u grab nothing but THE AIR 10:56 i learned the hard way that they have that ability. Had the same reaction but instead i died T-T 44:23 My Reaction. Outer Expanse was absolutely beautiful!
So Gourmand, Monk, and Survivor are all in the middle of the timeline. Gourmand -> Survivor -> Monk. There's 3 slug cats before Gourmand and 2 after Monk
Gourmand takes place before survivor and monk so now the karma gates are unlocked for them and you can get new endings, and about the pups, have fun being a parent in a different campaign
Once, I was playing Gourmand and I got grabbed by a blue lizard, but the blue lizard does the thing they do sometimes where they spin in circles on a background wall, and the velocity got so high that Gourmand had enough inertia to squish the lizard. It was the most absurd way I've ever seen a lizard die. I think that one dropwig in The Precipice did that with you.

20:20 You managed to find the optimal route through Five Pebbles with that decision. Though that was the second to last of the Daddy Long Legs you would have found in that direction. It looks like the console versions haven't gotten this year's update yet. It integrated a few mods, notably one that made yeeks (the bouncing things at 45:54) look like little hopping birds instead of bouncy living bagpipes.
The pups are the food quest unlock. They can be found in Survivor, Monk, and Hunter's campaigns. You can also find alternate endings for survivor and monk by reaching the tree, as the gate is now unlocked.
Man I'm so glad you enjoyed!! It was super fun to see you explore and experience more of the world and it's creatures!! The ending had me smiling throughout :D Looking forward to seeing you play whatever campaign you decide to play next!!!
SlugPups are basically just baby slug cats, and since they can now be found in other campaigns, you can actually achieve a new ending for the survivor, which includes taking care of them Anyway, regarding the video, it's nice of you to finally finish Gourmand! I'm so excited for you to play the other campaigns as well! Also, I've recently started watching your Echoes of Wisdom vids as well! I've been enjoying them! Keep up the great vids!
Woo! Also, holy cow did a lot of footage go into this vid, it must have been a ton of work. Good job on finishing the food quest though! I didn't like the food quest as much as the objectives for some of the other slugcats because it takes a while. But I do appreciate that the Gourmand pushes the player to start considering fighting back against all the creatures that used to be major threats, evolving the relationship between predator and prey. Being more and more familiar with the map is also an awesome feeling. Excited for the next vid! (Also, there are now different endings available for Survivor and Monk now that the gates to the Outer Expanse are open, in case you are interested.)
The precipice is an area which is fallen in this campaign (which is why shoreline is what it is now), and is intact for 2 downpour slugcats which is the bridge that connects pebbles' underhang and something else
I love Gourmand so so much, playing it is so fun and Outer Expanse is easily my favorite region in the entire game!! It's so gorgeous and calm with AMAZING music. This is my favorite campaign except for Saint! Loved your playthrough too and that you took your time beating the food quest!
those glowing blue and white berries distract enemies when thrown! also. you’re officially better at scugging than me…. i’m too busy and too bad a rainworld player to beat any downpour campaigns…. but at least i have beaten both monk and survivor now :3
For the notice at the end, the first bit means you can restart survivor or monk and have them return home. The part about ‘pups’ is a new creature called a slugpup (a baby slugcat) can now spawn in other campaigns! You can take them along your journey and they even have their own little food meter
It’s so fun watching to you piece together the lore of this game, especially cause most of your theories are pretty damn close give or take a few details! Also I’m sure others have mentioned this, but the gate to outer expanse is now open in the Survivor & Monk Campaigns. I’m excited to see which campaign you play next
btw quin, you probably won't see this still but getting gourm's ending also unlocks the ability to go back to that place as survivor and monk for two new endings- also, as i said on that other video, try hunter sometime, even if on your own time

52 minutes?? I am feasting harder on this video than gourmand with the centipedes. And man, your commentary is so funny and I'm SO happy that I found this playthrough because the rain world hyperfixation is real. And I feel like you must've been a slugcat in your previous life because you're cooking so hard with your lore theories that it's crazy. For example, the guess that precipe might be something more in other campaigns ;) Anyways, I'm so looking forward to other downpour scugs, keep it up!
Congrats on completing the game as gourb, Quin! Pups are the children of the slugcats, and you can spawn them in sandbox and find in some campaigns like hunter, gourmand and survivor. Also now you can get the good ending ( aka outer expanse ending ) as monk and survivor! Hope I didnt give you much spoilers, good luck on your next journeys!
I love this series so much. I hope you keep adding to it Quin. I want to watch your playthroughs and then watch so much lore. Major rose for me in a thorny day/week, thanks dude!
A hilarious and weird theme for this Gourmand playthrough is "Vultures appearing in places I've never seen them appear, even though I have almost 400 hours in this game" That King Vulture at 33:03 is something I've never seen before- same with that vulture that appeared in that small area in Farm Arrays in a previous ep! The vultures love him...
big man's COOKING and we are eating good!! the perfect video to chill to :3 Sleepy tips and facts incoming: - There is an easter egg in Outer Expanse. You have to go down one of the long chutes, which I think you passed. - There's another, situational easter egg for Gourmand after you finish the Hunter campaign. It only happens after the easier ending, so if you want both you can do one ending, go back to Gourmand and find the easter egg, then do the other ending (or use a different save slot). - Scavengers were throwing spears at you in OE because they hate yeeks (the hopping frog guys). Why? No clue. They don't mind squidcadas. Hot tip: Yeeks are grabbable and their hopping ability lets you traverse even red worm grass; they're very useful as 2 specific slugcats. - When out of breath as any slugcat, staying still eventually lets you recover. The time it takes depends on the situation and slugcat. - The reason the black lizard didn't die is you actually hit it in the head with your spear. You want to aim at the body only, unless you're slamming them from above, in which case the head is the only hitbox. - Tamed lizards lose their fear of basically everything and are fiercely protective, which is why your white lizard tried to fight the daddy long legs for you (they're usually TERRIFIED) - Several slugcats now have different possible cutscenes and selection screen art based on your ending choices. - Gourmand gains a lot more forward momentum throwing a spear than throwing a rock. It's possible to make it past the big gap between the two train carriages that way. As other slugcats, eating a mushroom gives you a slight edge movement wise (it doesn't only slow the game down; it also enhances your speed, jump height and distance) - It only takes one spore puff to kill a red centipede. You should try to kill one with spears sometime, though. It's an unforgettable experience.
i love your rain world videos so much. you are doing very well at the game! i love big fat cat gourmy i hope you do artificer’s campaign next i think you will have a literal blast with it
So, the message at the end that mentions from this point forward in the time line refers to Survivors and Monk campaigns, they both have new endings, they were locked because in those timelines Gourmand didn't made it to FP and the area remains in lock down, but now YOU made Gourmand complete the journey and gave hope to Survivor and Monk! Also to clarify: you unlocked 2 things at once 1: By getting to FP you unlocked the new endings 2: By completing the food quest you unlocked the pups in some campaigns
I almost forgot! The image for all Slugcats in the main menu changes depending on which ending you choose. Survivor also gets two additional menu screens depending on how many pups you take back with you to the tree (max of 2).
Yes, you completed it! There are quite a few slugcats past this chonky boi in the timeline, so you could try revisiting with old friends ;) Obviously hyped for more Rain World in the future!
YAY HE IS PRO GAMER!! ALSO HOUR LONG VIDEO POG?? I'm so glad you enjoyed gourb's story! I'm late to the party but this was the perfect video to end the day with lol. He is rapidly evolving and soon shall be the ultimate scug!!!

Ps: such a long video, thanks for the hard work and then editing all of it.❤ I'm going to be entertained for a couple days with this. Or maybe just watch it like a movie 😅
Thank you for the video! Love your rain world playthrough
Glad you like them!
Just as I was looking for an hour long video-
Thank you Quin
52 minutes?? I am feasting harder on this video than gourmand with the centipedes. And man, your commentary is so funny and I'm SO happy that I found this playthrough because the rain world hyperfixation is real. And I feel like you must've been a slugcat in your previous life because you're cooking so hard with your lore theories that it's crazy. For example, the guess that precipe might be something more in other campaigns ;) Anyways, I'm so looking forward to other downpour scugs, keep it up!
"gourmand is probably the longest"
mmm... but will he push through and play the false prophet?
Congrats on completing the game as gourb, Quin! Pups are the children of the slugcats, and you can spawn them in sandbox and find in some campaigns like hunter, gourmand and survivor. Also now you can get the good ending ( aka outer expanse ending ) as monk and survivor! Hope I didnt give you much spoilers, good luck on your next journeys!
Just a friendly reminder that you are amazing and appreciated
Thank you lizard
I love this series so much. I hope you keep adding to it Quin. I want to watch your playthroughs and then watch so much lore. Major rose for me in a thorny day/week, thanks dude!
Also, we need a "worst moments" compilation from this, your comedic timing is just too good.
a 1h video right after my shift ends? perfect
im really happy u uploaded on my birthday makes my day even happier :) always stay happy 2 quin :D
Happy birthday!! 🎉
Thank you !! :D@@sparkcircuit7029
been patiently waiting and excited to see more rainworld!
A hilarious and weird theme for this Gourmand playthrough is "Vultures appearing in places I've never seen them appear, even though I have almost 400 hours in this game"
That King Vulture at 33:03 is something I've never seen before- same with that vulture that appeared in that small area in Farm Arrays in a previous ep! The vultures love him...
The map definitely changes between campaigns and you are not ready for the lore.
big man's COOKING and we are eating good!! the perfect video to chill to :3
Sleepy tips and facts incoming:
- There is an easter egg in Outer Expanse.
- Tamed lizards lose their fear of basically everything and are fiercely protective, which is why your white lizard tried to fight the daddy long legs for you (they're usually TERRIFIED)
- Several slugcats now have different possible cutscenes and selection screen art based on your ending choices.
- Gourmand gains a lot more forward momentum throwing a spear than throwing a rock. It's possible to make it past the big gap between the two train carriages that way. As other slugcats, eating a mushroom gives you a slight edge movement wise (it doesn't only slow the game down; it also enhances your speed, jump height and distance)
- It only takes one spore puff to kill a red centipede. You should try to kill one with spears sometime, though. It's an unforgettable experience.
i love your rain world videos so much. you are doing very well at the game! i love big fat cat gourmy
i hope you do artificer’s campaign next i think you will have a literal blast with it
yassss, I have been waiting for this ever since the last RW vid!
Also to clarify: you unlocked 2 things at once
1: By getting to FP you unlocked the new endings
2: By completing the food quest you unlocked the pups in some campaigns
GREAT VIDEO MAN!!!! Love to see it!
Congratulations! You’ve unlocked a new ending for both Survivor and Monk. The two of them can now make it to the tree.
I almost forgot! The image for all Slugcats in the main menu changes depending on which ending you choose. Survivor also gets two additional menu screens depending on how many pups you take back with you to the tree (max of 2).
Ur a great youtuber. was looking forward to this video a lot. thanks for the great content mate :)
Abnormally large creature content
Yes, you completed it!
There are quite a few slugcats past this chonky boi in the timeline, so you could try revisiting with old friends ;)
Obviously hyped for more Rain World in the future!
W new rainworld video. And you were spot on about the precipice - it's primarily for a different campaign
12:40 the insane weight of the gourmand snapped the dropwigs neck when it picked you up
