Its a totally different experience to riding the woods! Although I think riding in the woods is my preference its well worth throwing a few of these in even for the views alone, It was breath taking up there! I can see why people do ride this stuff every week and I've actually already done another since this ride!
For a first Lakes ride Gordy, if you are wanting to go there (and you should, best trails in the UK are in the Lakes), I wouldn't recommend this loop at all; Dollywaggon is next level brutal - not technical per se, but brutal. The bridleway after (from the tarn to Patterdale) is the opposite, in that it's technical but not that brutal. In my opinion anyway 😂
I did warn Phil that Dolly is brutal 😂. Problem is, it can leave you so knackered that by the time you get to the Patterdale bridleway (best there is in my opinion), it makes it tough going. Nowhere is like Dollywaggon; there's plenty that are more technical but nothing is as rough, and it's due to the setts - you get no relief at all. It's far from my favourite trail in the Lakes but unlike many, I don't hate it. It's also one of the easier ways to get to Grisedale Tarn and the Patterdale bridleway so for me, worth doing.
I honestly had nothing left in me when I got to the bottom of Dolly, It was savage! 😂 Still glad I attempted it and it definitely was an experience! Im also glad I got my full suss fixed before I went as I thought I was going to have to do it on the HT! ☠️
A very brutal ride that needs to be done to be believed, patterdale was an amazing trail though, still hard going after dolly, but nowhere near as brutal, not sure if i want to attempt dolly again though 🤣👍
Patterdale was a great trail and I would love to ride it on a fresh set of legs but I had nothing left in the tank by that point! 😂😂😂 pretty sure I wont be doing Dolly again if I do it wont be anytime soon haha! ☠️
Looks like an absolutely brutal bit of trail. Good workout and plenty of rocks to get your blood going. Great stuff 👍
Thanks Jonathan! The route was amazing but I’m not in a hurry to go down dollywaggon again thats for sure! Never had arm pump that bad in my life! 😂😂😂
@@chunkyantmtb I'll be honest....not sure I've ever had arm pump. I get general tiredness 🤣
@@MTB_Derbyshire well if you fancy the experience of having some dollywaggon pike is the one! 😂
@@chunkyantmtb yep sounds fun 🤣🤣🤣
The views look unreal!
Never a bad view from when you first set out until the top mate! Well worth the climb up!
Brutal! Some of those drainage chasms were a joke! 😱😱 But the views....❤❤
Views for days!!! 👍👍👍
Looks Gnarly that mate 👍
I don’t think I’ll be attempting the dollywaggon descent again anytime soon! 😂😂😂
@@chunkyantmtb 🤣🤣
fab ride!. how do you think it compares to riding the usual steep woodlands? would you do this kind of riding again? it does look an epic day out!

@@chunkyantmtb It would have broken both you and your hardtail if you had 😂
@@Stopadoodledoo true to your word Jason! 🤣
