  • Taking your horse out on the trail this week/weekend?
Follow along in today's video as I prepare these horses for their first trail ride with us since moving here to Missouri from New Mexico. Preparation without rushing can be the difference between an opportunity to develop your partnership or a loss of connection and a rupture in trust!
With horses, how they experience anything for the first time is of extreme importance, this lays the foundation for their understanding and builds the blocks for a safe and happy horse going forward.
Trail Riding is no different, where they find themselves in a new environment away from the safety of their home, herd, and familiar sights, smells, and sounds.
So from the minute the experience starts, we need to do it right, be mindful of how they are perceiving this newness, and help them along as a leader they respect and know they can trust fully.

I'm a true believer that our horses reflect the owners. If your calm and consistent, your horses will follow. I'm the same with mine every day. Makes for a safe and fun partner. Greatly appreciate your training style.

Great video Dennis! Our training style is pretty similar, calm and consistent, try to understand what the horse is thinking. Always a pleasure to watch.

So would you say hand grazing your horse as a ‘bonding’ activity is probably not a good idea ?

In my opinion no . I think just setting with your horse while they are loose can be a good thing .. but when you have an instrument of control on them it can be confusing to the
      horse .
