- Just like last year, we took ourselves up to Edinburgh, Scotland for a few days during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to enjoy some shows, food and drinks together! It's always SO much fun, it's my favourite little tradition we've made!

American here. When y'all were talking about racism and police brutality in America, it broke my heart. I am so sad and angry that it happens, and so sad that we are known for that around the world.

We love Scotland. We were there during the Royal Tatoo; the lone piper coming down Edinburgh Castle stairs made me cry. Fringe festival looks fantastic.

the concept of the farmer's market is that you are buying directly from the farmer instead of buying foods that are sold to the supermarket at wholesale prices and then sold at retail prices

In the USA, a farmers’ market isn’t just a market - we have had markets for longer. But they were developed after people had stopped buying food directly from the source but rather bought them from a supermarket or grocery store. Farmers’ Markets were originally pop up markets where consumers could buy fresh produce directly from farmers. So it was novel for people who were used to only buying everything from a supermarket/grocery store & now could get some fresher produce directly from the source - farm fresh! Of course you’d have to spend a bit more even though you would think that you are cutting out the middleman.
I was about to explain the same thing about farmers markets. Our farmers market is actually cheaper as is buying meat directly from the butcher. You can save more by buying directly from the farmer if you know how to process your meat, but the butcher is still cheaper than the grocery store. We can also trade goods instead of using money.

So glad Keegan got his voice back over time. I was having a hard time understanding him at the beginning! (American here) 🤣 Really fun to see Edinburgh during a festival. I am always sad that I didn't study there during college. (I changed major. I couldn't fit in an overseas study trip because of classes I had to take for the new major.) I'm sure it would have made a huge impression on me and my life. BTW, love me a custard croissant! Had one most mornings when I was visiting Italy! 💛

A Brief History of the Farmers Market
In fact, some of the first recorded testaments of farmers markets come from Egypt over 5,000 years ago. People in this part of the world used to sell their wares and produce along the Nile River to travelers passing through. Markets wouldn't hit the states until the 1600s.

Looks like you had a great time at the Fringe again. This video reminded me to mention to you when you go back to Florida, go to the Whole Foods bakery section. Someone I follow on here lives in Fl and he got a chocolate hazelnut-filled croissant at one recently and said it was really good and it made me think of you and Keegan. Since you like all those things that might be a nice treat next time you are there for vacation.

We just visited Edinburgh this past April! Was a bucket list city to visit for me! Will CERTAINLY be going back sometime, hopefully soon!!
And I think that was Victoria Street where you saw the Harry Potter themed stores. Diagon Alley was loosely based on Victoria Street. It was one of my favorite streets to walk while we were visiting.

OK, so I’m sure you’ll be pleased to learn you’ve now garnered yet another hard-core fan. Lol! I’m just loving seeing you two guys together - clearly in love. Not only is this helping to normalise such types of relationships but it’s also making me want to have a relationship now as well tbh. I’ve never had a serious relationship before, partly because I’ve never felt I’d met the right person before but also because I was quite happy being single (it has its advantages, you know). However, that is no longer the case and I have now met someone. The only issue is that he lives in another country. However, that’s not such a problem these days, is it? Lol!

You may want to see for your own purposes if farmer’s markets in Great Britain are separately designated from other produce markets by only selling goods from locally sourced farms and even candles, straw brooms, cloth napkins that you find within the market are made locally by craftspeople and smaller local companies.
Yes we have farmers markets but I didn’t realise that the concept of a farmers market is from the US! How cool!

Markets have been in mainland Europe and many other countries MUCH longer than the US. Barcelona has one that dates to 1217. Catania, Sicily from the 17th century.... just two of countless examples. The myopic view of Anglos 🤣

Speaking of old things in Great Britain, can any of these old roofs support solar panels? Here in California, 46% of all residential homes have solar on the roof, and it's required for new construction! 🙂 Excess power can be sold to the utility or stored in a battery. 🙂
I managed to snap my achilles tendon in Edinburgh on the way to watch the Tattoo! Ended up in hospital having a plaster cast fitted and totally missed the Tattoo! Biggest regret of visiting the Edinburgh Festival.
