One of the main goal of SB19 is to promote the culture of the philippines but since they are under a korean entertainment they used also korean (your) language to show respect to those people behind their success and yes alot of those people are koreans..

I think everyone that watch their MV should be careful to not compare it to Kpop MVs . If your expectation is always comparing it to the other ones you lose sight of really appreciating them. I like their MVs because more than others that have a bigger budget I can still say I can hear sb19s vocals clearly, I can appreciate their synchronization and their excellent dancing skills because my eyes are not drawn away to too many other things going on in the background. Am I excited to have a bts like budget you bet but what I hope will never change is what made me fall in Kobe with them in the first place the raw talent: voices and crisp, synchronized moves. And of course that honesty and not having to be told and censored on what they say, on being boxed to have a certain image that they can’t be real and honest like they are now.

I totally agree like why do they need to spend too much if the music or the song is the main point of the video like they dont need riches. And if they use expensive stuff they would look more like kpop duhhhh... DON'T COMPARE THEM TOO MUCH they are on different levels(Sorry)😅😅🤣😎

As my knowledge it's a collaboration between Korean and Philippines that's why they put a korean language from the start and she is the Korean mentor and teacher of SB19 name Adelaide Hong musical artist in Korea ..and about their wardrobe ,members said that company allowed them to what they wear they wearing Philippine style because they are Filipino and they are not copying Korean style when it comes of clothes that's why they wearing a simple clothes ...anyways appreciated your reaction Kamsahamnida 🙏

honestly .. i can agree in some point .. and unfortunately in Philippines we dont do like high budget MV production. why coz Philippines is just being practical in ways .. in any aspect .. i never seen a super grand like how US, or Korea Mv like-ish level but I can guarantee the talent.. and i know the followers of these boys is not because of their MV but of what they have ..what they can give LIVE to the Opm. For the Korean thing, as they are under korean management so that happen . ShowBt. though they r promoting still .. Opm! when i suggest someone a song to react . i always ask them to react to the Live performance not the MV it self . anyways thank you for your sincere comments . I feel bad at first like i think i heard 80 percent negative ..maybe because u dont know them yet ...maybe next time you can check on their live performances . one more thing in ph . having Very high budget Mv < live performance, madlang people always care in Live itself

It is good to hear objective comment like this. From where you are coming from, I do understand the Koreans’inclination towards K-pop idol hyper competition. Like better complicated dance synchronization, etc.
SB19 as k-pop-influenced is more of fusion-style genre..i.e. with Filipino-flavor vocal quality and audience-engagement style. Alab is definitely catchy but I agree with how the moves are executed because it is relatable and fun. During live concerts, audience can actually do the “burning fire” gesture and “hook” style with Josh. You got the engagement with the fans right there!
It shows the multi-dimension of SB19’s talent - they can do complicated dance synchronization as much as engaging dance move which adoring fans can also do. Moreover, they can sing power ballad without dancing showcasing their vocal harmonization. Needless to say, SB19 is showcasing their muliti-dimensional talent breaking out of the mold from “just another k-
pop idols”. That makes the group unique.

No hate. But I disagree on some points. I think the mv is refreshing. It’s not too ‘heavy’. It’s not too kpopy. The thing is, they are under a korean company but they are staying away from the ‘kpop vibe’ a little bit because obviously they are p pop. So I think simple mv, costumes and background is a filipino thing. Filipino singers don’t usually focus on that stuff because song quality and artist’s talent is more important I think. Just saying. Thanks.

People sometimes, do not expect much from their idols to be this and that.. Making people to do something that they aren't just because they are idols they should be this and that.. I do not believe in that.. People do not want to see stess in someone elses faces..We just basically want to listen and watch them.. because they are happy of what they are doing and no one ask them to do it..I think you more focus on technical rather than talents..But Yeah that is your opinion and thank you for reacting to sb19..

Thank you for your objective reaction. For a rookie group, a small company and small fandom, I think we can give them a break. They have done so much since September 2019, which is when they suddenly became viral famous. They have the potential to do more. Having achieved Billboard’s Social 50, emerging artists, and other achievements in under a year from the release of Go Up, and ranking quite high almost alongside more established groups like, BTS, EXO, NCT, and GOT7, They will surely go places. Keep an eye on these boys, they have something more to show in the days to come/

I just want to say that.I think you need to do some research.Because of course they can use korean language because they are trained under korean entertainment and which means it is a collaboration between two counties that is combined together.Well of course, the MV style is kinda similar to KPOP but it doesn't matter whether their budget is low or high compared to KPOP MV's.Of course, KPOP industries have more chance of spending more money because they are more success in terms of Entertainment Industry. The one thing that I like about SB19 is they are very bubbly, kind, their voice and their adlibs is very good!Well the matter is.If you truly love this group, you need to appreciate them and also love them at the same time.

I AGREE! i actually think that your comment about them is on point! they can do much better And i also want to see their company invest more with their clothing and music video productions. Totally on point with Sticking to English or Filipino instead of korean language at the beginning. and about the comparison of old korean MVs with theirs. I believe that SB19 deserves more than that. They are all very talented and they deserve better. Hoping to see more of MVs with better quality too. 💕

I agree with a lot of your comments. And in their case, I think it all boils down to greater Investment. This will wildly improve video production, styling, costumes and even song quality. You have to understand what these boys are doing are new and unprecedented in the local Pinoy Pop Scene. We are so used to pretty boy balladeers (who can’t dance because they’re not expected to) and actors/singers who have huge networks bankrolling them. SB19 doesn’t have the kind of money and media exposure a network can provide. They are a test case featuring the Korean method of training talents to perfection applied on unpolished natural Filipino talent (people belt out ballads here so often that frankly we are hard to impress). I bet locals thought ShowBT must’ve been crazy to scour talent and train them for years without consistent revenue. I think it’s only now that they’re making money. So yeah, I hope the grand experiment that is SB19 succeeds.
As for the dancing, Go Up/Alab’s choreography might look a little dated by Korean standards but by Filipino standards, holy cow, it’s game changing. Frankly, local pop groups have mediocre choreography and the synchronization is laughable. SB19 singlehandedly raised the bar with their Go Up dance practice video. I think they’re still trying to find their footing because they have no one locally to reference. They only have their KPop idols’ body of work (hence the old school vibe). They are not yet at the stage of innovating like BTS, NCT, TXT, etc. But I think it’s only a matter of time before they find their own groove.

i think a lot of people have covered everything you've mentioned. like yeah im not a fan of kpop but i like it as a genre but i like the kpop feel that sb19 has shown with a lot of the music they've put out so far, and i think that's what caught my eye - bringing this kind of style to our own culture of music is a VERY good idea (because it's bringing in something FRESH at the generation we're in now - especially when kpop is so big and well loved worldwide), not to say it's new coz im sure it's existed back in the day, it's just back then, the style kpop has brought into the center wasn't as BIG then as it is now. this type of music style, singing and dancing, making really cool moves that people can easily remember and pushing the high notes? a lot of artists did that already in the past: eg. Michael Jackson, the King of Pop.
but i thought their style (clothing mostly) was kind of corny at the start but it's really personal to them, i think it doesn't matter at the end of the day coz it gives them their own personality and identity? coz like how i really got into them wasn't that style of clothing (i think it's cute too tbh) but their music, their singing and their moves. and the reason why the dance moves are easy to follow? EASY. filipinos LOVE to dance, it's in our culture as much as singing goes, and the fact they made this song's dance easy to follow (and so amazing to watch) makes it so that it's easy for other people to follow too; if you know Sarah Geronimo's song 'Tala', that became a dance craze in the country (and all over the world too) at some point (im not sure when coz i can't follow trends in the philippines now that i don't live there lol) and the masses LOVED singing and dancing to it lol
i think your opinions were fine, we all have our own ways of thinking but it's also good to understand the reasons why some things exist the way they are. so peace :D

I am not a K-Pop fan, but sorry I just shake my head when I hear comments that are somewhat attributed to K-Pop or South Korea in general, as if they thought of something first. Like Samsung, sure they became a big company but it's not like they invented Smart phones. I know because Samsung was not very popular in the late 90s to 2000s because they made crappy phones (pre-Smart phones) before.
A lot of the dances and styles that I see in K-Pop was done decades before in mainstream media. And your comments about looks, well Japan was already doing crazy fashion and hairstyles way before K-Pop was known outside Korea. The Colored/dyed hair, Visual kei bands has been doing that since the late 80s if I'm not mistaken. Sorry for being the Antagonist here but I really hope SB19 will develop into something different, not looking like any K-Pop group, idol.

You raise very good points which I agree with. However, let me just make some corrections:
      1. SB19 is a Filipino idol group formed by a Korean entertainment company and trained in the Philppines under the Korean idol training system.
      2. As a result of this background, it is inevitable that they will come across as very kpop-ish. However, what the boys themselves emphasize is that they want to marry the best of what Korea (training and discipline) and the Philippines (natural talent) can offer.
      3. Their target is the Philippine music industry not the Kpop industry. The Philippine pop industry is known for its stand-out talents as well as mediocre celebrities who become famous because of their looks instead of talent. SB19 wants to promote P-pop and their down-to-earth, relatable personalities, as well as their training, hard-work and perseverence has won them many fans.
      4. They're just starting and we expect them to emphasize the Philippine culture more as they become more experienced performers.
      5. They write their own songs and do their own choreography. The leader, Sejun, is chief song writer while the main vocal, Stell, is main choreographer. They just made a song, ikako, which is dedicated to frontliners and the rest of us plagued by COVID-19.
      6. They do their own styling after being thought the basics and doing further research on their own (I hope they will have their own stylists and make-up artists soon though).
I hope these gave you a better idea of why these boys are considered game-changers in my country. Other groups mow have to step up their game or be compared unfavorably to SB19.

@@gmumma You don't have to write that down because I know/supported SB19 since the Go Up dance practice last September 2019. I made this comment because when I see/hear foreign reactors talk about SB19 and K-Pop in the same sentence, it seems as if everything is borrowed from one source, as if the source (in this case, K-Pop) is so organic that it came about all in itself so original like no other.

@@ninkichan7209 I hear you. I was also aiming for the reactor and others who may not be familiar with SB19's background. I wish they do take the time to do a bit of research before they react. Wikipedia is free and the SB19 page seems well-maintained.

SB19 was formed by ShowBT Philippines, the Philippine subsidiary of ShowBT Group in Korea, after the five members were selected out of hundreds of aspiring idols during a talent audition in 2016 and underwent the same type of training provided to K-pop idols, attending classes ranging from voice and dance to personality development and body conditioning.
The group debuted on October 26, 2018, with their first single, "Tilaluha". Their initial effort at promotions, mostly in schools and malls, was met with a lukewarm reception.
    2019-present: Mainstream breakthrough
SB19 performing at Lazada 11.11 Supershow in Sofitel Harbour Tent on November 11, 2019.
Their second single, "Go Up", was released on July 26, 2019. The group began gaining attention after uploading their dance practice video for the song to their TH-cam channel, which became a viral sensation on Twitter and Facebook after it was shared on the social media platform by a Filipino K-pop fan. This paved the way for the group's appearance in various radio and television shows as well as coverage from different local and international media outlets.
On November 20, 2019, SB19 became the first Filipino act to appear on the Billboard Next Big Sound chart. They also became the first Filipino act to enter the Billboard Social 50, debuting at no. 28 on the week of December 28, 2019 and ascending over the following months. Jeff Benjamin, writing for Billboard, noted that their rise in the chart was aided by a growing international fanbase, and remarked that it was an indication that "more artists [will] continue to look East for inspiration and a larger audience".
SB19 is a five-member Filipino boy band who debuted in 2018 and consists of Josh, Sejun, Stell, Ken, and Justin. They are the first Filipino act trained by a Korean entertainment company to debut in the Philippines. They are also the first Southeast Asian act to enter the top 10 of Billboard Social 50 as well as the first Filipino group to chart on the Billboard Next Big Sound chart. Despite the apparent K-pop influence, SB19 promotes its music as part of Pinoy pop (P-pop), a popular sub-genre of original Filipino music.
    Origin: Metro Manila (2018)
Record label: Sony Music Philippines, Inc.
    Albums: Get in the Zone
Awards: Awit Award for People's Voice Favorite Breakthrough Artist & more.

I agree with a lot of what you said in this video. The song is indeed catchy which is the best thing about this video. I agree, too, that they should not have used the Korean language in their video. Their debut song‘s MV also featured the Korean language, did not show the boys and made it like a Korean drama and it was appreciated neither by the Filipino nor the Korean audience. But it might be that they wanted to save money and use the resources they had in their agency.
I think for the most part, you had been saying that there needs to be more investments poured into this group. I totally agree. I think one problem is that the company is only starting to see returns on their investment now. These boys had been in training for four years and it‘s only now that they see serious money coming in. Their choreography is not as sophisticated as the other big Kpop groups you mentioned because the boys choreograph their own dances - no professional choreographers with vast experiences who are also dedicated to thinking up choreographies for group. It might still happen when they start earning much more and/or are too busy to do it themselves. Most probably the same goes for set design and costume. I think if their agency doesn‘t have the capital to invest, at this point in time they can easily find investors to pour in money to support the boys. I think also the timing was bad. Because of this pandemic, a lot of their plans had to be shelved, so income and recognition is not as high as it could be. We can only hope 2021 will lead to a greater growth in the group‘s successes.

In 2019, the group landed at 6th spot on Billboard’s Next Big Sound chart for their musical act and fast-rising popularity across the globe.
Composed of Sejun, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin, SB19 is the first-ever P-POP boy group trained under a Korean entertainment company, ShowBT Philippines.
