I seriously don't understand how come anyone didn't notice the colorism in this movie. When Varun Dhawan is shown coolie he's brown washed and when shown rich he's white washed. I mean srsly Bollywood needs to get over their colorism. *Edit- as many people commented it's colorism, I corrected the sentence.*
He is not brown washed it is the dirt and sweat, which people tend to have when they do physical labour for prolonged time. Actually their are many times in the movie when Varun's rich character has darker complexion than his real life body complexion, otherwise his swapping characters will not be possible practically.

I still miss Priyadarshan. Looks like he has reached creative burnout and hence left filmmaking. Fun fact , most of the Priyadarshan's movies were remakes of his own movie which he directed decade or two ago in regional language. This also proves Priyadarshan's movies are also ageless. The only thing I loved about this movie, even tho I didn't watch it, is that they didn't spoil "Main Toh Raste Se Jaa Raha Thha" as much as I expected them to and made Kumar Sanu ji and Alka Yagnik ji sing it.

I'm a person who likes to see the silver lining of everything that's why I said that. I genuinely loved and enjoyed Main Tera Hero and Judwaa 2. But I didn't enjoy Coolie No 1 at all. It's so heartbreaking to see a talented actor like Varun choosing scripts like Kalank and Coolie No 1 when he has so much potential. I was 9 year old when the Govinda movie had come. I didn't watch it. Even as a nine year old, I had made that choice. People might be laughing, but even as a kid I had my reservations on a lot of things portrayed in that movie. David Dhawan is delusional. Varun Dhawan is loud, obnoxious and unfunny. I don't think people realise that doing an over the top role in a senseless slapstick comedy is an art in itself, just like actors who can do intense drama, action, sentimental etc. Not everyone can pull it off. Govinda had the skills to overact and still be funny. In the Malayalam film industry, we have actors like dileep and Jayaram who do the exact same stuff. And really it isn't that easy to do especially when you don't have much of a script to work with.
Sara Ali Khan is so annoying these days. Her true colours are gradually showing. But kudos to her PR team for potraying her as this smart, talented, intelligent actress. Well, it turns out to be the other way round 😅

@@gamingapocalypse7973 I got you wrong first time. I agree. Still there are bunch and bunch of people who are influenced by her. Even after she did horribly in LAK2, many people still watched Coolie No.2 coz of her interviews, instagram managements and PR stunt. Some (Many) are still fooled by her.
Most of the star kids debuting today can't act. They come from a privileged background; they come into acting because they can't do anything else & everything(PR, godfather) is served to them. Besides being a star kid, they are NOT passionate at all for acting, they come here for easy success, money, recognition & work.

I did not even play/download their songs on Gaana, Spotify etc. I happened to hear a part of the song from a dance cover of one of my favourite dancers, while scrolling through IG. I'm a person who likes to see the silver lining of everything that's why I said that. But that doesn't mean I'm going to watch the movie because after watching it, I will start liking one more thing about the movie - when it ends 😂

Agreed 100%. Also bad acting does not = she fooled us/made a C* of us with her interviews and so deserves hate; something I am seeing a lot and is just not ok. I really like Sara and was quite disappointed in her inability to act, but I still think she seems like a smart and genuine person. Really unfair how now suddenly she's getting all this hate and Jhanvi (who i also think is a bad actor) is suddenly getting praise bc her performance are slightly better. I was so confused why Jhanvi was in the Actress round table this year. I just don't understand the Indian audience.

Neither of them can't act, they both getting roles because of their connections. Gunjan Saxena is a film that should have featured a more capable actor to do justice to the role. Atleast for Sara, she is doing this commercial roles which don't even require much talent in the first place.

I genuinely loved and enjoyed Main Tera Hero and Judwaa 2. But I didn't enjoy Coolie No 1 at all. It's so heartbreaking to see a talented actor like Varun choosing scripts like Kalank and Coolie No 1 when he has so much potential. I'm a big fan of him and really hope he changes his career trajectory. His script sense doesn't do justice to his talent :(

I was 9 year old when the Govinda movie had come. I didn't watch it. Even as a nine year old, I had made that choice. People might be laughing, but even as a kid I had my reservations on a lot of things portrayed in that movie. David Dhawan is delusional. Varun Dhawan is loud, obnoxious and unfunny.

After getting used to with British and American sitcoms it is tough to lough with the comedic performances of India and Bangladesh.
I don't think people realise that doing an over the top role in a senseless slapstick comedy is an art in itself, just like actors who can do intense drama, action, sentimental etc. Not everyone can pull it off. Govinda had the skills to overact and still be funny. In the Malayalam film industry, we have actors like dileep and Jayaram who do the exact same stuff. And really it isn't that easy to do especially when you don't have much of a script to work with.
Dileep is probably one of the best slapstick comedians in India imo
