That turned out beautifully. Your arm holes aren’t quite high enough up into your armpits. That’ll give you much more range of motion. You might also want to make the shoulders narrower. The late 1890s with the giant sleeves had a shoulder seam cut pretty far in for modern sensibilities.

VERY BEAUTIFUL! You are soooo talented! Bravo!

Great job! A suggestion for the next time, whether it is this pattern or another garment. The shoulders carry the weight of the garment and sleeves, using a length of twill tape, your shoulder length, sewn along the seam inside would keep the shoulders from stretching. I like your code pattern approach to patterns.

The mic bit at the end was great. I giggled. Very fun ending.

This was so cool! As someone who loves historical costuming, seeing you break down how the original was made and all was super cool. And you said you’d make the band at the waist wider to make it more of a feature, but I wonder if it’s the way it is for easy of being tucked into a skirt without riding around? Basically, as a channel for the skirt’s waistband if you were to wear it tucked in? If so, I think that could explain why it’s not more of a feature. 🤔

Not a machine knitter, probably won't ever be, but this was really neat! Gonna take away the tip of reinforcing with crocheting a chain

"Not bad"? That's amazing! You are extremely talented. It always blows my mind how professional, symmetrical, and most importantly beautiful everything you make turns out. You make me wanna try crocheting a sweater or start practicing my knitting again, I was never very good at knitting but I love the look of knit, so many types of patterns you can do with knit than can be done with crochet, but the same could be said about crochet and knitting as well. Anyways though beautiful sweater absolutely love it.

Soo cool! Machine knitting is so baffling to me 😂
But then again, I only know the very very basics of handknitting
On the machine the process of which buttons to push and how and in what way to swap and move the yarn between stitches looks so complex 😅 but also somehow easier or at least faster than hand knitting - so interesting!
The end result is amazing, I love these jumpers!

Thank you so much for identifying the rick rack ribbing! I’m going to hand knit one of these and I’ve been experimenting for a few days trying to reproduce what I see in the Met version. I was getting close but this saves me time & sanity 🙏 🙏 🙏 Happy knitting!

Thank you for sharing this! I've been eyeing this pattern for a while. Some bloggers had noted that while the Delineator pattern was written for hand knitters the garment in the photograph was definitely machine knit, hence your racking stitch and Bill Gates revelation.

  • @mamelvik

That sweater is gorgeous! Could one possibly handknit something using only a pattern made for machine-knitting, do you think?

  • @DanceswithDustBunnies
    @DanceswithDustBunnies ปีที่แล้ว

I’m a crocheter and all knitting is voodoo to me, so it seems, while faster on the machine, something like this (which is amazing!) would actually be easier by hand 😂

Um... This is the first time I've perfectly fit a size chart since i was a teenager. (Not the size in the original pattern)

  • @Falney

The "easy" answer to revisiting antique patterns with weird measurements is to create a block. It's basically a template of your self. Recreate the design using your block, in plain fabric like an old sheet from good will or something, break it down, take measurements then convert that into knit. If you are used to doing it, you can skip the part of making it in fabric, and just base it off your block.

No, you didn’t make the met sweater.the fit is entirely different, the elegance is lost.
You can say you were inspired by the met, but that sweater is the equivalent of an Asian sweater shop knock off.
