I saw Bernadette Banner wearing a cycling blouse and loved it. I'm so glad your video showed on my feed because I know now that I can make one. The confusion you maybe had about the 11 inches it called for from the waist to bust is this: Victorian Underwear. They had constructed undergarments like stays and corsets so that's why your pattern called for so many inches: to accommodate the underwear the ladies wore. Modern times are just a bra or a bra and camisole which is less structured and many fewer inches than the Victorian shape they wore under their clothes. Good job fitting yourself so you didn't have to remake so much of it again.
You definitely can! Personally, I had a lot of fun knitting the sweater, even though I made a few mistakes. That is quite possible. I'm just finishing the undergarments, so I've never been able to test if the measurements will fit, but I'm excited to see if the sweater will still fit once I put all the layers on top of each other, as it should.
This turned out beautifully! A cycling sweater is on my knitting bucket list but after seeing how much work this was it might have to wait a while longer 😉 Really well done!
Thank you very much! I can understand that well. Although it doesn't take quite as long if you don't keep undoing it as I did. The knitting itself is actually fairly straightforward. :D
A fantastic result for quite a challenging project. I particularly like the sleeves and the neckline which are really quite 'elegant'. Thinking then this would be great as a top with a skirt or pants for the evening or a formal event rather than as (only) a 'sporty; garment .
I think you always have to take vintage knitting patterns with a grain of salt because they were written with one very specific size and body shape in mind. It turned out very beautiful :)
Yes, absolutely. Apparently, there was no consent on how to write a knitting pattern or what measurements the knitting needles have. So everyone did their own thing.
Wow! What a feat. Looks great, thanks for sharing! Fun fact: I just finished watching the making of Victorian secret pants. (with a borrowed cycling sweater).
Thank you! 😊 Usually she avoids being on camera, but I have an idea to make it happen. However, it will take a while before we can actually realize it.
I felt in love with that sweater and have bought yarn to knit one! Thank you for inspiration. But I was wondering how many stitches did you have second time you made the sweater?
I'm honoured, that my video was an inspiration to you! According to my notes, I cast on 314 stitches in the round. That should be the amount I used for the second attempt.
Welcome to why I HATE bottom up sweater knitting. Don’t argue with me on this! Anyone sporting more than a B cup KNOWS!!!! Bottom up sweater knitting is the devil’s work!! It IS!! Top down ONLY!!!! Unless it’s socks 🧦. Then, the opposite is true. Socks 🧦 are toe up! There is no changing my mind on this.
I guess I should try knitting a top down sweater. I am not familiar with that so, when I make my own pattern, I usually refer to the one I already know. But learning something new is always great, especially if it might hold some improvements in the fitting process.

I don't know how your channel got in my recommended, but it's fascinating.
The algorithm is unpredictable...
Thank you so much for spending some time here!

Thank you! :D
I actually wear it in a more formal context than "sporty".
@@ankanyofficial Yes I most certainly would too !!
This is a such a beautifully knit sweater ❤ and it is so lovely on you. I am currently drowning in a sea of sweater envy.

It’s a lovely sweater; the colour is just gorgeous 😻
Than you! I love the colour too. 😊
Excellent work. I found someone who makes extra fine needles for his wife from bicycle spokes.
Thank you!
This is so cool! I read about making knitting needles out of bicycle spokes in some old magazines. I think I will try it one day...
That's gorgeous! The sleeves look fine!
Thank you!
Wow! I am not a knitter but I shared with friends who are. Cheers

Right now I'm knitting another more difficult one and I'm so glad I have already solved some of the problems with the first one.
@@ankanyofficial I am very impressed with your problem solving!
@@catherinejustcatherine1778 Thank you so much!
@@ankanyofficial you are welcome!
Interesting use of clones. I would not have thought of that.😄
😂 It took me a while to understand what you mean by clones. I completely forgot about that. 😅
@@ankanyofficial 🤣🤣🤣🤣
OK. So now I need to learn to knit...this is lovely.
Thank you! I really love knitting.
And I also think that with a little practice, this sweater is a great beginner project.
Wow! What a feat. Looks great, thanks for sharing!

Outstanding! I felt your pain at undoing all that work, but it was worth it - the finished jumper looks amazing.
Thank you so much! In retrospect, I'm really glad I redid it. But getting over that point was hard at that moment.
Gorgeous. You did a great job. I love it. 😁

That sweater turned out awesome! I would actually love to see your mom dye yarn. Would she be willing to make a guest appearance on your channel?
Thank you! 😊
