Thome was my childhood idol. I was 6 years old the first time I can remember watching (and falling in love with) baseball. It was the Indians @ Yankees in 1996. Dad hated the Yanks, mentioned that he liked Thome. From that day forward I idolized the guy. Followed him to Philadelphia after 2002 season where I discovered Utley. I stuck with the Phils when Thome was traded but I always continued to follow Thome’s individual accomplishments. I was very lucky to have had the opportunity to watch Thome play from the time I was 6 until I was in my 20s. Can’t say that happens often.
Jim Thome's walk-off would be followed by HR #584, off the Rangers' C.J. Wilson, on 9/4/10 (50th anniversary weekend), 12-4 Twins was the final, then the Twins won the AL Central, and Thome was on the cover of the 9/27/10 issue of SI (hitting #584 out)...outstanding time to be a Twins fan...2010 was a helluva year! Too bad the Evil Empire ruined it all...again!

When will you guys post the game from 2002 when they scored more then 20 runs?
7-6 was the final, not 7-5
I can only hope Jim Thome gets the call to Cooperstown next year....
I miss where u could actually run into the catcher
tyler schafer or break up a double play
This game was played in the year was 2009, not 2010.
It was '10...the Twins weren't at Target Field in 2009...
@@jackal24884 Yep. I was there that night. It was definitely Target Field and definitely 2010.
