In 1988 I took a Data Entry course at a local business school. We learned WordPerfect 5.2 (DOS). At home we had a Commodore 64 since 1985. Back then there was no LibreOffice. If you wanted a DOS word processor you had to pay $495 (Canada) just for that "privilege". By the time I moved out in '89 I was 23/24 yo. My office work experience was "spotty" and so I could not afford to purchase a $3000 IBM PS/2 or IBM "clone" for a bit less. I was dependent on "City Welfare" and got $550/mo. Not enough to purchase a PC let alone WP 5.2 or 6.0. The Internet for me consisted of about 100 Usenet newsgroups. What I'm trying to say is that I should have had my Dad buy WP or Welfare pay for a PC for me + WP so that I could practice at home for data entry and office skills testing so I have a fair chance at getting a job. The early 90s there were NO free public use computers like we have now. You either had a PC (or a Mac) or didn't.
LilZebra What a well-typed comment!..... :) I'm a 90's kid, and I currently run Linux, Windows 10, and FreeBSD, all on a good, solid Laptop with 4 GB of RAM, and an Intel Celeron Processor..... :) My, how times change..... :)
Hi LilZebra, I am two years younger than you and did not learn any computer training until Windows 95 came out. I was supposed to take this Adult School new free office training, that I was offered, but I turned it down. Why I did this, I do not know.
The first time I used WordPerfect 6.0 [Windows] was my experience in a work program during my unemployment time 1997-1998. I liked word processing as an avid typist who learned typewriting on an old Underwood typewriter when I was 12 years old. During my work experience as a welfare recipient, I made my own resume, letters and other documents and stored them on a diskette. In 2002 when I bought my first microcomputer "Cybernet," a Canon color laser printer and a Canon scanner, I was fortunate to transfer my documents from the diskette into my new Cybernet which had Microsoft Windows XP Professional, running Microsoft Word 2002. I chose a Windows microcomputer because I do business productivity and intend to start a typewriting business right in the privacy of my home. Like you, I should be "free!"
You can tell she's not actually doing anything with the computer; when she turns to grasp the mouse to "do" something, it cuts straight to the screen.. You never see her actually pressing keys.

Older applications for DOS were very focused.
I love looking at this while drunk!
@DreamShadow76 I wish I'd been drunk when I used this program at work!
I still like WordPerfect 6 better than current versions of Microsoft Word.
I love those old computers and tv shows... the computers were just more sexy back then.
Yes, modern computers barely give me a boner at all

I'm having trouble pausing my VCR.
I know right, What a way subtle way for them to poke fun at the lower class with VCRs that couldn't hold a still frame lmao
How to install WordPerfect 6.0 in just two steps!
Step 1: Pause your VCR
Step 2: WordPerfect installed!
Or add c:\WP60 to your PATH variable in Autoexec.bat.
GOOD GOD look at how big that fuckin computer and monitor is!!!!
