Deep Tendon Reflexes Made Easy: Quick & EZ [Episode 19]

The deep tendon reflexes, also known as muscle stretch reflexes, of the upper and lower extremities including biceps, patellar (knee), triceps, and achilles can be remembered using these 2 simple tricks!
Deep tendon reflexes of the upper and lower extremities are important components of the neurological examination and assessment of the patient. Muscle stretch reflexes test various spinal cord levels and nerve roots by activating the reflex arc.
The reflexes can be graded using a scale of 0-4+ to help determine if a lower motor neuron or upper motor neuron lesion is present.
