    As someone with essential tremors, I relate SO HARD!! You have NO IDEA how many times I've had my car searched by police for "acting suspiciously nervous" even though I always immediately explain my tremors because I've gotten so used to being interrogated about it. It's ridiculous what ppl will assume about you.

      Actually I remember a story just like that. The owner had come by one his small chain stores. The employee followed him around while pretending not to. Then when he was done looking and decided to see if the manager was able to talk she outright and loudly accused him of theft. The craziest part today miss you are a thief is the owner's wife. He married her. No clue why the story never said.

    The lady giving the cashier her loose change reminded of an incident that I once had. I had a large amount of loose change in my pocket once that I decided to lighten the weight on my pocket by using them up first when all of a sudden some young man reached pass me and handed the cashier his debit card to pay for the food I had. The cashier used it before I could process what was happening. The young man smiled at me and said for me to have a nice day and walked away. I finally found my tongue and asked the cashier what was that about and he just shrugged his shoulders. Thinking on it later, I decided the guy thought I was a poor man counting out the last of my money since I was using all coins. It the most I could figure. I have a good paying job too.

    I do remember that very first Monday working as a dishwasher, I worked with a guy named Todd and another guy named Mick they showed me the ropes, what went where, how many palettes could go in the dishtank. They also made my first day a living hell. Purposely forgetting to put garbage bags in the cans, then have me clean them out. Clean the filters in the dishtank, if there was one little crumb on the floor I had to sweep the entire kitchen over. BUT then they told me they were running low on glasses and had to get more from the basement. I wandered around the kitchen asking where the basement was and the cooks and guys on dishtank would point in a vague direction THEN it hit me, we are in a strip mall..there is no basement. I stood there feeling stupid then went to the dishtank and said "You assholes" while laughing " I spent a good five minutes walking around feeling stupid because I couldn't find one simple basement door" The guys just stood there smiling. Five minutes in i just looked at them and said "Dickheads" We were in tears laughing . Mr S came to the dishtank and said "Lemme guess, he figured out the basement door." It was just sort of an intiation of sorts. Mr. Said "Well looks like you are going to fit in fine you are an official bubble jockey"

    I feel for the guy in the 2nd one. I'm epileptic and also gone through everything he has. I wasn't as nice to people that stared at me . Also I hated putting in applying because it was exactly the same thing everywhere I went . So I stared to say no or not answer at all to disability on the application and then tell them after I was hired.

    • @speedbump9299
      @speedbump9299 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can understand that. But also realize some places do that due to liability. Also if i hired someone and they lied about that i would terminate them on the spot for lying about that if i found out.

    • @speedbump9299
      @speedbump9299 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@aralornwolf3140 if the application specifically asks then you can be terminated for lying. Because you were falsifying information. The only time that specific matter comes into question is usually if a disability could keep someone from performing a job. Like a example from when my mother worked for the US forest service they were hiring people to clear trails in the forest. Dirt trails the guy marked that he did not have any disabilities that would prevent him from doing it. He shows up what was supposed to be his first day in a wheel chair because he was a amputee. He clearly would not be able to do the job. Another scenario is that you would not want a person with epilepsy any where near a job where it could possibly cause a seizure. The medical disabilities like that are a must to disclose. Because employeers have the right to choose if they wish to take that risk. As well in cases of epilepsy the employeers have to know what to do for if the person has a siezure. Now what i feel is this is more of a question to ask during the end of the interview if you are actually considering hiring the person. And the way you phrase it is ask if they have any that could potentially keep from doing their job.

    • @davidallen3239
      @davidallen3239 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@speedbump9299 I get what you're saying but I found a loophole where I'm living. And I do not have to disclose that I'm disabled even if it is on the application because there is a law that protect me even if I don't disclose it. Because I just got tired of them saying the same exact thing over and over and I was qualified and never got the job. The thing is when I told them I was disabled they didn't even mind because I proved myself I wasn't a liability or burden on the company. And with epileptic seizures as you know there are many forms of them and there's even many more triggers. Like me for example lights don't bother me sound don't bother me the most people with epilepsy it does.

  • @sbrideau2000
    @sbrideau2000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    The disability part of the second story is the reason I'd always hide the fact that I'm deaf in one ear when on job interviews. As soon as I started doing that I started getting the jobs. I just let them see the hearing aid (surprisingly almost no one sees it first time) or tell them months later.

I suffer from selective mutism and in certain situations I literally can't speak and it's not through lack of trying or not wanting to speak. You can look it up and get a better idea of it. He said I don't know, at which point she cut him off and said Sorry, my mistake, you obviously don't work here.
      As he was telling her that he does work there, one of the employees walk by and into the employee's area. The woman tried getting his attention but he didn't hear her. So she followed him and attempted to go into the back. The manager got in front of her and told her she couldn't go back there.
      She said she needed to ask the employee about the creamer & the manager repeated that she couldn't go back there. She said who the hell are you? You're just a customer so mind your business & don't tell me what I can't do. The manager told her that he was the manager and not a customer and she couldn't go back there.
      She said You're not a freaking manager, you sure as hell don't look like one. You don't have uniform on. Managers don't dress the way you are right now. So move out of my way.
      He told her that he had just arrived for his shift, where he usually changes. He told her she could give him a minute to change and clock in and then he would help her or she could leave or be escorted out. She said she's not going anywhere and no one is touching her to take her out. If anyone touches her, she'll sue everyone in the store 😆
      Another employee comes out the back and the manager asks her to assist the lady and find her item so he could clock in. Then he went into the back.
      She kept repeating to the employee how rude he was for threatening to have her escorted out and nobody better touch her. I just walked away after that 😆😆

    The last story reminds me of when I went to court for my divorce to be final. I had to have my person and my purse checked before I could go into the courtroom. When the metal detector detected a large metal object in my purse, the person doing the checking dumped my purse out, probably expecting to find a weapon. It was, however, a bag of pennies I kept meaning to turn into paper money by using a Coinstar machine, but had kind of forgotten about it. Everyone around had a good laugh about it. Well, mostly. I was mortified about having my purse dumped.

      It's illegal to deny a job based on a disability but they can easily chose someone else and simply claim they are more qualified. All the disabled people I know, including myself, won't mention it until there's actually a good chance of being hired. Companies claim it doesn't make a difference but they'd prefer someone who isn't disabled in almost any situation where it might be even a minor inconvenience to them. Asking for disabilities in an application is not wrong imo because some jobs do require that you are able to do particular tasks. But in a lot of jobs it really isn't relevant at all.

      Well as someone with an anxiety disorder I can tell you that MOST exchanges are fine it’s situations like that guy had that make us extremely anxious and uncomfortable, with counseling etc you can learn coping skills to get through those situations and after some time it comes naturally to the point you don’t think about it... though to someone who doesn’t have it/understand it I totally understand why it doesn’t make sense.

      @@msuew94 you don’t know me at all and yet you claim to know I don’t have anxiety. Got news for you, I have some pretty high anxiety issues. I finally found a job where I don’t have to deal with the public after years of being a wreck when I would go to work. My Anxiety is not severe as OP claimed theirs was, and there were days I could barely stand it . Yes most exchanges were fine. Then there the ones that a customer lied about me saying I punched them in the parking lot. Cops were called, I was fired and had to go to court and I never even touched her. And yes that actually happened.

    Epilepsy is not a disease! It is a disorder in the brain not yet understood. Where would this woman get the notion we need to wear helmets?! "Because you fall down so much." - With medication you can live a normal life. Postictal episodes could lead to misunderstandings, with you not being in control of yourself as it occurs, please take the time to learn and not judge.

    4:58 well that is true for some people that are epileptic that’s only maybe 30% of people (i’m sorry I don’t know the actual statistics on that) whereas most of the people that have epilepsy look like normal humans they just need to take epilepsy medication as OP did and the reason I know that is in my program that I go to there is a individual there that has epileptic seizures and when he goes out he has to wear that helmet but there are other people there that do suffer from seizures but they don’t wear those helmets so that is too broad of an accusation for that entitled person to make

    I have semi-related stories for a couple of things, though nothing really bad.
    When I was a freshman in college I went to visit my older brother over a weekend. He was in his 4th year in college but also managed his buddy's band (very basic stuff, got them a gig here and there). I got there and it turned out he'd gotten his friend a gig at a local bar so he was planning to go to the show that night. In order to get me in I said I was with the band...I played the cow bell for the band (very quietly) that night.
    There was a 4 month period where I decided not to shave. Right at the end of that period I needed to go to the DMV, thought it would be fun to go in looking as ridiculous as possible for the photo. I shaved one side of my face but not the other and got a ridiculous haircut (mullet, lightning bolts shaved into the sides, ...). I then went to DMV and was waiting to get called up. I grabbed a seat somewhere and people started moving away from me. I heard a bunch of them whispering about 'that drug addict over there.' Unfortunately when I went up to the guy at the window he said they couldn't take a new photo then but if I came back in 2 weeks they could (he gave me a reason that I'm pretty sure he made up). I of course had to be back at work on Monday so I couldn't keep the look going for that long and I'm pretty sure he assumed that would be the case.

They can't make you like before. Life might throw a curve and today where you are feeling goo is tomorrow not so good. And the doctors won't be able to change it because they don't know how.
