This week I was having issues finding a spot. There is no doubt, this year I have seen more people enjoying our public lands than prior years. I'm a little torn over seeing so many people in the woods. I one hand, I understand I'm being a bit selfish, wanting to be alone, completely removed from civilization and having these woods to myself. On the other hand, I'm happy that so many people are realizing how many amazing resources Minnesota has to offer. The downside of the forests attracting so many people is amount of garbage being left behind.
Saturday started of beautiful. Toby and I explored around the campsite searching for more camping options. I found a site that would be perfect for someone in a tent. The views of the lake from atop a big hill were outstanding. It wasn't long before a thunderstorm moved in. We decided to take shelter in the camper for a few hours. After the lightening passed, I went outside to grab a few shots during the rain. I found a turtle in my campsite; it was fun to watch him navigate around. I think he was just as curious about me as I was him. Once the rain passed Toby and I started up the fire and prepared supper. I made a very inexpensive cut of short ribs, they were delicious! I tossed in a line in hopes of catching a monster small mouth, but with supper on the line I was only able to cast out a few times. The mosquitoes were out in full force this weekend. It was around 11pm when I made my way out to the campfire. The mosquitoes are always super bad from 7pm to 10pm. Sitting around the open pit was nice. The smokeless barrel I have been using the last few weeks is a great option, but there's something different about watching the fire from an open rock lined fire pit. Sunday morning felt like fall. The temperatures were in the 40's and the rain had returned. Even though it wasn't the perfect weekend for being outside, my mental batteries were recharged, and the relaxing weekend will carry me through another work week.

As a guy who knows about punching in at 5 am and not getting off work until whenever , only to drive 2/3 hrs any given direction to go camping on the weekends . I fully understand where you are in life. I don’t think too many people would be mad if you had to push your upload to Wednesday so you can pack more content into the video. Just like everything in life that people on the outside looking in have an opinion on, it is your channel! You do what you do and I’m all in when it drops.
Yeah, I agree. Sometimes I don’t even get to watch until “like today”. But that’s what notifications and save to watch later options are for.

Am I the only one who divides campers into two groups- (1) Those who trash everything and (2) Most people who are respectful of nature and other people and the campsite. God bless you for being the guy who cleans up somebody else’s mess and leaving the site nice for the next visitor. 🙏👍🏻👏🏻
I love how you capture the natural sound around you - the thunder, the birds, the crickets, the rain...so relaxing. Wish I had about 30 minutes of just that to listen to as I fall asleep each night. 😊

The one thing I have heard from youtubers is that editing takes a lot of time. I can only imagine. For most youtubers, it's their main job, meaning most don't have other jobs like you do. So hopefully now that person understands why your videos are not longer.

I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating… You really do get some great B-roll footage… That storm rolling through, the huge turtle, and those geese skimming over the lake are just a few.
And I knew the time would come when you would start getting so many comments that you wouldn’t be able to respond to all of them… A nice problem to have but please don’t worry about it. We know you see them and that’s enough. We really do appreciate all the time and effort you go to in bringing us along on these weekend getaways.

YOU, Toby, Adele, and Mandy (your family) represent to me the America I chose to protect and defend for so many years. Please don't let haters and jerks deter you from the happy entertainment you give us... And for FREE! Shine 'em on man, block them... whatever you need to do. Just don't change what you do OR how you do it for the galactically stupid. There are morons out there who do little more than peruse YT channels simply to foster hate and discontent. Hi Kenny this is Dale. I really enjoy your vids! I’m a big camper here in Arizona. I am from Michigan . I joined the Air Force in 1975 and got stationed here in Arizona. I have been in aviation ever since. I am getting ready to retire from the FAA and come back east to do some camping during the nicer months. Watching your vids brings back many good memories when I camped as a teenager. Again , thank you for taking the time putting these vids together and sharing them. And you’re right about people watching their language in the comment’s. We need to be respectful to one another, more now than ever! PS, I use sweet Baby Rays all the time when grilling as well. Occasionally, along comes a couch potato who wants an opportunity to make a negative nellie comment. I ignore them.
Life is short enough as it is and at my age it is a pleasure to watch things I can no longer do easily and having done a lot of camping in my time, I appreciate the effort, expense and time you put into these videos. My boyfriend got me interested in your videos. I enjoy hearing about your camper routines, your love of coffee (me too!) and your resourcefulness. I'm sorry that you've had some inappropriate comments. They seem to be a hazard of social media these days. :( You're spending 20-30 hours in editing, plus a full-time job and not much sleep; that seems like a LOT, so I hope you love your weekends away and making the videos. Otherwise, it would be burn out time. Many years ago I was in Minnesota with some gymnasts because they wanted to go to the Mall of America before their meet. I much prefer your Minnesota! I had no idea it took around 20-30 hours of editing to complete one video. That’s a lot of work. A comment saying you were lying or that something fishy was going on was disrespectful. You

Kenny as part of my job before retirement, I often lead new installations of equipment in an automotive engine plant. Lining stuff up with the laser and indicating within thousandths of an inch is an acquired skill set. I was asked to make videos on the process. I tried and quickly found out just how hard it was to explain yourself on camera. I came to the conclusion, it's not something I could excel at. In my opinion, you do a great job and keep things light and entertaining. Like your close out where you say we have spent enough time together it's time to go is perfect. It leaves one longing for your next installment. Keep it up.

All I can say is keep doing what you are doing Kenny. I've been a fan for over a year. I work in television and consultants have killed it. You're doing exactly what people like to see. The movie and tv industry is scared because of content like what you're creating. I know TH-cam doesn't payout...but there will be better options.

Hi Kenny, I have been subscribing to your channel for about 8 months now, since I found it, but have never actually posted a comment yet. But I just really wanted to let you know how much I enjoy watching you and Toby on your adventures. I love the fact you got Toby from a shelter and are now giving him such a wonderful life. Watching him grow up into such a beautiful boy is a real joy. You are a lovely, kind gentle man doing something most of us only dream about. The places you visit and explore are exceptionally beautiful, and the isolation is something that is found in few places anymore. I am from the UK, a tiny densely populated island compared to the USA.....we do have some amazing places, we really do, the Lake District, Dartmoor and many parts of Wales and Scotland are areas of great natural beauty, but getting away from people is damn near impossible....
I am from the North West of Britain a tiny little town called Ormskirk, it has been a long history, dating back to the 1200's and is now probably best known for its open air market and ever expanding university. Anyway enough of my rambling, you continue to do what you do, you are a pleasure to watch and I wish you and Toby many many years of adventures in your stunning country, very best wishes and please give Toby a big hug, Debbie from England x
Thank you very much for the comment. I do love the solitude of our state. I recently visited my brother in Germany. Visiting castles and learning about their history that's goes back hundreds of years was my favorite part. That is something we do not have here in the States.

Thanks for taking us along! We have no dispersed camping in the stat I live in, and camping at a campgound is getting so $$$. Some places won't even let you bring in a camper if it is more than 10 yrs old. Maybe I need to move, lol.
Here in Montana you can camp Anywhere in the National Forest, free. Many times we will camp up the road from a campground, pull off into a nice field or an opening in the woods and set up camp. There are so many beautiful places to camp and if you are old like my wife and I, if we do camp at a campground, we get half price. Take care..

I watch A LOT of you tube channels, have had lots of health challenges but am finally on the mend. Your channel and others, the reality is they say it takes a lot of time to shoot and edit the finished videos we see. Nothing hinkey about that. Something begins to die inside when one is filled up with disapproval and suspicion. I hope the peace and beauty of your videos can help some angry, critical people relax and enjoy life more. The shots of the rain hitting the water and the geese are exceptional. Toby is really coming into his own. He seems so much more comfortable and is playing and running all over. Kenny first and foremost Thanks for bringing me along every weekend. Planning, fueling, grocery shopping and repairs all take time and energy Tack on videos, editing and uploading that’s another job in itself. Your videos have reminded me and my young sons that there’s much more to life to be seen. Thanks for the hard work and the renewed inspiration to get away for a few days a month.

Anybody who watches anything at all knows that these videos have to be edited and sliced together. What he should have said was thank you for spending your time with us and thank you for taking all of this time to edit and record when you could be just enjoying your weekend. You have definitely inspired my family and I to start looking at camping in other places besides the state parks. It is getting so hard to get into them anymore anyway. See you down the road!
