The new bridge is a part of the East West Rail development, and has been planned for at least four or five years, predating Universal's interest in Bedford. The work was approved by Parliament in 2020 in The Network Rail (East West Rail) (Bicester to Bedford Improvements) Order 2020, a Statutory Instrument. Check the end of the SI in Schedule 1, Work No.38 for the reference.
East West Rail work started way before 2020. Some parts of East West Rail opened in 2015 and got permission in 2012 under another transport and works act The Chiltern Rlways (Biecester to Oxford improvement) order 2012 which was the first phase of EWR.
Thank you for your effort and investigation. Very impressed 👍🏼 You are the go-to source for Universal UK updates! 🇬🇧 👍🏼
Thank you for stopping by.
They will be doing a full survey looking at things like the water table and the geology as they would need to know how deep they will have to do foundations for any thing any being built.
Good shout, thanks.
Loved the build up proper TH-camr now
Hahaha. I milked it good!
On building sites before it starts they check for tree roots and stuff. That's why they borehole.
An aquifer is a water-bearing geological layer under land, almost be definition above a clay base. It can cause flooding and damp problems, unless drained into a river.
There are East West Rail documents online where they looked at every level crossing and how they were going to deal with the increase in rail traffic. I remember all of them near the Bletchley of the line were either "close it and do nothing" (for all of the footpath ones) or "keep it open and do nothing" for roads such as Simpson Road in Fenny.
I really didn’t expect anything to start for a couple of years. And once the surveys and ground work and facilities are in I think they will hammer through the building of the park itself in super fast time like the new Epic Universe park in USA.
Great video again, I reckon they know something otherwise why would they do it. I think this is all leading to the answer we want to hear
Thank you. I think they do know more than they are letting on and it is in the direction we all want.
Looks to me like they're just surveying the ground .there will obviously be foundations and footings and also piling fir the various buildings and rides etc.. if they find water at certain depths . they will have to be dewatered or tanked.. ..Bridge makes sense to me.. less messing about for everyone in the future..
OOOO! CANT WAIT!
Great stuff, I'll add that ever since the start of East West rail rumours have been floating around about bridges or crossing closures - partially the Woburn Sands one (locals were angry about it cutting off route to High Street)
Woburn sands will be tricky. Very busy, no space.
@@ProjectUniversalUK at one time the plan was to just remove the crossing with no alternative, would be a massive diversion for traffic though
Is it possible they are expecting a big increase in in rail traffic on that line when the park is finally opened and thus would make sence to do away with the level crossing due to fact it would always be closing and opening..?????
Yes, they are creating East West Rail which will run from Oxford to Cambridge when finished.
@@ProjectUniversalUKThere should be 4 fast trains and 2 stopping trains per hour per direction.
The Type of level crossing means that it closes very shortly before a train arrives and raise shortly after a train departs, the type of level crossing means it isn't protected by signals even though you may think so by the station starter on the platform at Kempston Hardwick which is famous in railway circles for a video called "a perfect misunderstanding". The type of level crossing is known as an AHB (Automatic Half Barrier). The rasing of the line speed doesn't necessarily require removal of level crossings, I know of examples of this type of level crossing on 125mph Railways.
So I have seen the plans for this bridge that is replacing the crossing and the reason those work man are in that field is because manor road will have to be widened which will take up some of the field on both sides
Meanwhile, the Phalanx and Harrinton Flint, plus a couple other guys are hosting an emergency meeting nearby in a shipping container
Whatever they build here will need to handle the traffic from the Wixams station if it’s built. 14:35
Maybe rather than them knowing something we don't, they might be doing the work as show of good faith sort of thing to encourage universal to make a disicion based on them being proactive
Yes, that's a very good point. Could well be.
Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with Universal, and everything to do with East West Rail Ltd who are doing the funding the works but it is Network Rail who own the track so they are the ones who have to ask for permission to edit a public right of way. How will passengers be able to cross from the Down to Up platforms and the other way around during the closer as you can not make the detour to complex and to long as it would effect the changing time.
You can see when the car crosses the bridge. There’s not enough room for a lorry and a car to cross at the same time. 12:50
That bridge is certainly too tight for 2 vehicles.
Surely they must be putting bridge's at Milbrook and Lidlington. If so how will they do th Bridge at Lidlington? As the rails run directly through the village..
It's a good question. I cannot see how they will do that.
It would surely make more sense to join the road with the new roundabout at Fields Road; it would be much safer to use that roundabout that the T-Junction that you currently end up at to join the old A421.. Why else did they build that huge roundabout with a junction all ready to go...
That huge roundabout was built because they were going to and maybe one day they still will build a school on that field. Also Universal do not own that land and thirdly that would be a nightmare for people who live in wootton if traffic were to use that road. If you watch the videos and pause it when I show the map where I am you'll see they are going to build a new on/off ramp from the new 421 to their land and also a new roundabout on the old 421 to their land.
Still looks great the whole planning for Universal Great Britain the area were it’s going to be constructed.
A King Kong Dueling Coaster would be a great fit for Universal Great Britain they were going to have for Universal Dubai when they propose in 2008 but it was canceled overall will just have to wait and see.Keep up the good work.
I think universal have already made their decision and that's why they have done an article in the financial times about it.
will every level crossing be replaced by a bridge on the marston vale line?
I'm not sure about all of them but definitely there are more that will be bridged. Some of the cannot be bridged for example in Lidlington. I don't know how they would find the room to build a bridge there.
I suspect the lines will also electrification added too
Good detective work like seeing your video keep up the good work as for universal from all the things I have seen and been reading and the guys from universal say when we build it then saying if we build it in the meeting they had with the public I think it will go ahead they are spending a lot of money just to bin it and now it's being reported in usa 🇺🇸
Thanks Darren, it's good to have you here. If it's being reported in the US that can only be a good thing.
Are there crops still in these fields? Looks like it
Yes in some of the fields. The big one is just grass.
@@ProjectUniversalUK thanks. So is the farmer still in possession of the land? Or is the land being leased back to the farmer for the remainder of the year (to harvest the crops)?
@@ProjectUniversalUKlooks like grass but looking closer at your still images i would say it’s spring barley just starting to mature. Those poor crops desperately need a break from all this rain.
@@spindoctor-ff3ydthis years crop of what looks like spring barley and winter wheat will certainly be harvested, it’s possible after that it will enter a stewardship scheme, or the farmer may crop again. From previous experience in recent Bedfordshire developments once the land is sold it is usually left set aside, but hard to say for sure in this situation as would depend on the sale terms and conditions with those involved.
I would think the land will be farmed right up to the start of construction... All that top soil will have to come off as the ground will have to be civilised.. drains .conduits etc..
Do you know what the deal is with "Randalls Farm Environmental Education Centre", very specifically got the red hashing on the master plan instead of the otherwise specific red boundary avoiding it... heavily abandoned so bit of a mystery I think
The land at Randall's farm is owned by the same company that owns Broadmead farm, Coronation Pitt and various other plots at land around the area. I should think the cross hatch is universal making it clear they do not own it. The company that do own it are based in Cambridge and seems to be a development outfit that sits on land. It'll probably get redeveloped once/if Universal confirm the park will be built.
It is very hard to close a station.
They will be building a replacement just up the line but until that's built I agree it'll be hard. Since filming this my view has changed and they will go around he station.
@ProjectUniversalUK Even resiting the station is hard work as it requires modification to the rights of way.
That doesn't surprise me that they have to close off Manor Road. Building railway bridge and widening the actual road means they kinda have to close it off. Its going to be extremely annoying for locals having the road closed for so long 14-15 months.
Long way round to McDonald's !
That is a massive helmet. 16:39
It’s for EWR mate
Hello
Hello
Wish you would have just got on with it and not waste 7 mins of our time. Well annoying
Skip forward?
@@ProjectUniversalUK I did, but only out of sheer frustration, and surely I’m not the only one. I can see you are in the early days of this channel, so I’m still sticking with it, but I musn’t have been the only one annoyed with that
