If you see the entire film you will understand the relationship between the two boys is not sexual but a mutual friendship that through ups & downs develops into an intense bond built on the trust they find in one another. By the end Lorenzo’s mother becomes concerned after watching her son & realizing that he has fallen in love with his new friend, which Lorenzo has been grappling with throughout the film after knowing he is attracted to boys. Caito is seemingly straight but finds that he has a true love for his friend Lorenzo because he has shown him what the love of a friend, a person, a confidante really feels like, something he did not get at home. It is not sexual although Lorenzo is obviously physically attracted to Caito but it is pure & real, which he tries to explain to his mother. And when Caito does insist he must go at the end it is after finding his way thanks to Lorenzo. The famous kiss everyone mentions is a testimony to how Caito feels about Lorenzo by his letting him kiss him (on the cheek) & confirming that he appreciates the concern & affection Lorenzo has for him. And so it is that Lorenzo has come to terms that he is gay but now has the acceptance of his mother. We are to believe that the boys were not meant to become lovers but rather exactly what the other needed to survive. The final scene when they hold each other is simply the purest form of love as Caito becomes emotional followed by Lorenzo breaking down after Caito leaves. Their roles have somewhat reversed as they have both taught each other much about life, about love & most of all about friendship. It is the only time I’ve been in a theater & had the entire audience sobbing & remaining in their seats until after the credits began to roll!

Beautifully explained, but the storyline sounds very depressing and so typical for relationships gay men have with others, even if platonic. They had a great time, but at the end the gay man is being left behind. I stopped watching gay movies, because most of them are or end way too depressing. 💁🏻♂️
What a great summary of the movie, it was the true meaning of a beautiful friendship but as everything in life all things must come to an end.
I've just watched 2 or 3 episodes and find the story quite good....nay, compelling. This Lorenzo is a kind soul, a compassionate boy, who's mature for his age. He sees through Caito's pain and his friendship brings healing to Caito's woundedness. Thank you for this film.🙏

Oh my God. I'm crying now 😭 That moment when the mother saw Caito has finally come home & looks okay. She was crying while she was asking him. At that moment my tears immediately formed & run down my cheeks cuz I remember I was also like her whenever my kids weren't back home at the time I was expecting them they'd be back from school 😭 It was always making me worried & I was really crying so much. & then they would just tell me that they had to do school projects. After they would say that, I would cry more.

I love this movie. I love the mood, how understated it is. The emotional bond between the guys is undeniable but unspoken. The characters are convincing and natural. While a lot of people are unsatisfied with the ending, as am I. I wanted more for them, but I also prefer a story that can happen in real life. Sometimes you just can't be with someone even if feelings are mutual. And that's fine. Doesn't make it any less real. That's what I take from the film. It happened and it was acknowledged
I feel the same but I was rooting for them to find a way to help Caito in his situation as Lorenzo suggested to Caito that they can help him with lawyers and about the murder as a self defense ( as they were having a fight that night ) and hope they can continue their friendship . we can only hope. The actors themselves are very good at portraying their characters. it feels natural and not forced.
@@zwrthxx9165 I definitely felt like they left the movie at a cliffhanger. It doesn't feel complete, almost as if they were setting it up for a sequel. I suspect that we'll see more of them in the future.

yeah, the pic of them as kids makes them look either same age or within a year or MAYBE two. Lorenzo looks 15-ish, as you said, maybe 16, and Caito looks like a college student, probably 20.

Caíto was definitely not gay. Lorenzo was the only one but their friendship in that moment in time was enough. Pretty realistic movie. Haven’t most gays experienced such? On a side note...Lautaro Rodríguez is a very handsome boy.
I don't think they're gay. I believe they're just in a state of adolescence and confusion though Lorenzo's parents did mention about it him not having any girlfriend and Lorenzo regretting what he did with that girl, I think he's just confused and he just doesn't know how to interpret or let his emotions out until Caito came. He just needed a good friend. A friend he can take care of.

This movie was good, not great, and by the end you really never know whether Caito is truly gay or just looking to be loved by someone, anyone.
I think that’s why it’s great. It shows a more complex relationship. But I think the true issue is that we need more movies about happy gay relationships. Happy holidays!

I don't know if they're gay. the movie isn't really about them being gay. its more like about a friendship between to guys. The better they know each other, the better they acknowledge each others flaws and take care of each other. but If it helps you remember the time where Caito cried and he grab Lorenzo's hands? the time they celebrated Caito's birthday in a bar and Lorenzo waved to that girl and Caito was just like staring to Lorenzo while he watches the girl? the stare of jealousy or idk what you call it, the time where they lit up a fire near the beach and Caito was staring at Lorenzo when Lorenzo ask him to close his eyes? after that kiss, Caito still stared blank to lorenzo and hug him telling him I love you. for me it wasn't gay, it was just brotherly love.

I know he was lying that time but he just couldn't show it yet, but it wasn't really proven if he's gay or not nor does it matter since the movie is good.
