The mother yelling at him was hilarious and she was correct on every point. When parents put every bit of themselves into their child or children, they will get angry when you don't do what they think is best for you. It just means that they love you a lot. Don't forget that.
And the person acting as Gijs' mum is actually his real life mum and an actor too.

My mom did this everytime to me when I'm wrong but i never left home because they really are right about it .... Sometimes they even beat me but not abuse
The mom was overreacting. Just make an appointment with your children they send you an app if they come home too late or they are sleeping over.

U must have a careless parents or no parents at all, if the parents are not pissed at their kids for not coming back all night when they're just kids, it just means that they don't even care or love their kids lol. And note it that they're just teenagers not grown ups and they didn't even tell their parents they went out or replied his mother's text.
Although this kept popping up in my suggestions with gay vids, I'm not even mad that this isn't one. It was great little short. It had a beginning, middle and end; conflict and resolution and the situations were relatable. It's better than a lot of full length[gay] movies that I've wasted hours on.

I agree tho. It was well acted and produced. I waz actually looking at the comments to see what people thought of the ending or outcome lol and I forgot about the gay expectation :)

A short film about two friends whose home life is less than desirable. Finally, one of them decides that he's leaving and going to Berlin, tells his friend, who also decides to come with him. It has an uplifting ending.
“ less than desirable”…. The guys had everything they needed. Since when parents have to be perfect and give everything the children desire. Bunch of spoiled brats! It’s a good movie but it shows how twisted current mentality is. By the way Berlin is not a garden of flowers. Most young people that end up there work as prostitutes or drug dealers. Maybe you like the idea of them being “available”…
@@WorldEye88 ??? If you can't see how Quint's life was less-than-desirable, you must not have been watching. Thjimen (I hope I spelled that right) actually didn't have too bad of a home life from the looks of it, but Quint certainly did.

The trend today is to portray young (teens) men as the ones sufferings the pressures of life especially when it comes to sexuality... Check ...every gay movie on TH-cam in the last 5 years is focused on teens.

Beautiful short film about love, independence and life itself! I fell in love with Gijs Blom since seeing him in the film "Boys". The chemistry between Quint and Thijmen is amazing and wonderful. Both of their parents were such assholes. So glad they got away together!

wow this was actually seriously good? so much rawness and feeling in simply nineteen minutes, you really felt for the characters and they all got a surprising amount of development in such a short amount of time. it was really fresh and feel good and the bloopers at the end were really cute and helped to add to the mood!! wish american short films were like this

I watched it a year ago, and now watching again, how i love this shortmovie
Eigenlijk is het hele leven gewoon één hoge brug waar je vanaf moet springen en die cyclus van bang zijn, maar uiteindelijk die 'split second' dat je effe niet nadenkt en het uiteindelijk toch doet, ja dan maak je gewoon de beste beslissingen.
Maar je moet wel springen, je moet springen anders krijg je spijt.

Gijs is one of the most talented people I know. I saw Escapade two times and I I love it!! It is a great movie :) if you like Gijs you have to see it! :) he is great everywhere :)
Why dutch guys are so charming?
The film has a great potential. I so much appreciate how natural it is. I've seen it twice, now even with Czech subtitles (which made me surprised and pleased). Will share with my Czech friends :-)

Ik vind dit zo knap gedaan. Dat je op zo'n jonge leeftijd al zo'n (korte) film kan regisseren en kan uitwerken. Natuurlijk niet alleen complimenten aan Gijs Blom, maar ook aan iedereen die verder mee heeft gewerkt en aan de geweldige acteerprestaties van Robin Boissevain en Noah. Ik vind dit echt geweldig om te zien!
I like the literal parallel shown by the fact they live next door, then that is further developed through the cross cutting of certain scenes.
On a constructively critical level I thought about where this film was going for the first 10 or so minutes. I fell that had you brought up the subject of leaving home/escaping earlier in the film you could of had time to develop the theme more and vary it by way of the two characters contrasting lives, their attitudes and justifications toward it. This would have broadened the scope of the film while at the same time retaining the logic of your execution.
Also the end message felt a little "on the nose", let the audience figure out the films message, much more powerful that way, like at the start where the audience can interpret the meaning behind the event.
Well done, great acting, nicely shot, felt very real.
Thank you! ! I totally missed those parallels in their homes but definitely noticed their similarities at the end as they were running ! I'm not sure what was wrong or right. It seems the film wants to say they were perhaps both trapped even if in different circumstances and they both should leave and jump off towards life? I'm still enchanted by their beauty! Great film.

This film was so beautiful, I honestly loved it, so meaningful, different, unique! The actors were both so good and extremely handsome if may add! And their friendship is really exemplary!
