    We love pucked eggs and weenies.
    But another way ro preserve your eggs. I freeze mine in silicone muffin pans and when frozen you just pop rhem out and put into freezer bags . And when you need fresh eggs and are out you just get them out and let unthaw. You can fry them , scramble them , use in cakes and cookies. Everything but boil them.

    We have a spaghetti pot with a steamer basket. We can steam a dozen eggs at a time in the basket. Bring your water up to a boil, place your basket in with your eggs. Cover and steam your eggs for 12 minutes for a hard boiled egg. 8 min.for a soft boiled egg. Once boiled place your eggs in a bowl of ice water to cool. Then you can peel.

    Adorable baby goats! Haven’t thought about pickling chicken eggs. I’ve always seen pickled quail eggs. We’ll have to give it a try. Thanks for the idea!

    Great video. Castle pickling spice was unavailable on Amazon. However, I ordered a different brand. I'll keep an eye for on Amazon. Also, I didn't know you had a recipe book on Amazon. I have it on my list to buy on Monday. I have made pickled eggs from the pickled beets that I make as well. They are really good. They don't last long in fridge. Thanks again.

    Hey. Excited to try this recipe. Those pickling spices are not available online. Is there another brand you have tried?
    I have cowboy candy eggs in the fridge now. Just waiting til they’re ready.

    Let fresh boiled eggs set in water over night, next morning that shell slips through your finger because condensation get under the shell. Always refrigerate boiled eggs and especially if picked. Boiled eggs should never stay at room temperature long

    How do you can the eggs so you can put them on your shelves.

    • @TrueGritAppalachianWays
      @TrueGritAppalachianWays  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I’ve done a ton of research trying to figure this out myself. Everything I’ve red says that it’s honestly not safe to can freshly pickled eggs, because it takes at least a couple weeks for the vinegar to penetrate the yolk for preservation. To be on the safe side it’s best to just keep them in the fridge. Thanks for watching!

    Have you ever put beet juice in them to give them color

    Have you ever reused the same brine from a previous batch of pickled eggs for a new batch of eggs?

    • @TrueGritAppalachianWays
      @TrueGritAppalachianWays  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, occasionally the brine gets cloudy, I pour that out, but if it’s still pretty clean I definitely reuse. Thank you for watching!

      @@TrueGritAppalachianWays You can bring the brine back to a boil for five or ten minutes. Wouldn't that pretty much kill any bacteria that it may have grown?

    What is the difference between ... canning and pickling!!?? Refrigerated means .. pickling ..??? NON refrig means hmm CANNING????

    • @TrueGritAppalachianWays
      @TrueGritAppalachianWays  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When something is canned, meaning in a sealed jar, it is shelf stable. The reason pickled eggs are not shelf stable is because it can take weeks for the vinegar to penetrate the yolk, leaving time for bacteria to grow if at room temperature. The term pickling simply means putting something into a vinegar brine not just water. Thanks so much for watching!
