You are blessed my friend. I have had an anxiety disorder before we even met in Logan. I still deal with it and panic attacks are more common for me. Your description of how it feels is probably the most creatively accurate way to communicate the sensation "like reality itself is wrong or cracking" "it feels almost like instant death is right behind you." is how I have described it but I like your description more.
Your visual interpretation of the experience is also spot on. I love that you ended it on a positive note. Hopeful. Encouraging. WONDERFUL.

TLDR : I don't have panic attacks, but this still made me cry because of similarities in my life. Thank you!
I don't know if I have had panic attacks, but I have struggled with bipolar since I was young. Your descriptions of panic attacks are so similar to some of my bipolar episodes.... Especially 'like reality itself is wrong or cracking.' in my episodes of extreme emotions caused by bipolar, my perception of reality is heavily changed... A emotion driven hallucination just like claustrophobia causing rooms to 'shrink', when it's happening I can't tell if what I see or feel is real and it, falls into a self perpetuating emotional cycle until I have no energy left... The worst were the rage cycles... My only memory of those from when I was young are the aftermath which would definitely be cause for the adult protection agency. Even though I will always feel horrible for the things I don't remember doing, I'm glad they never showed up because my mom was always like the angel in this flipbook. With her help I always calmed down, and she is the only one who ever even tried to teach me the methods I now use every day to try and keep myself from another episode.

Your flip-book concepts are so small and simple physically and yet unbelievably big and complex in the emotions they consistently conjure in one. As I get older, I seem to become increasingly emotional about the important things in life and well up over them in a way that, mostly, I manage to hide. Guess, in your flip-book, it’s the intensity of black, the music and your reliving your childhood emotion that makes its impact particularly profound! Thanks for a beautiful experience.

The more you touch the paint, the more you damage the structures of the paint that makes it so black. Its extremely delicate. You dont want to paint anything that you'll touch, compress or lay things on. You cant clear coat it either. Its an incredible paint. Black 4.0 is another version of this paint that absorbs 99.5% of light.
A really cool think to do is spray a figure with the paint, then get micro holographic glitter in a little bit of paint thinner and spray that over the figure. The thinner will evaporate and leave the holographic glitter on the black paint. Ot looks absolutely amazing

There are very specific clear coats you can use that do not add much if any gloss, they themselves are not as sturdy as typical clear coats but from there you can then add other things for durability. No matter what way you do it it is obviously super expensive because of how specialized it all is.
Anyway there is a video of a guy doing a super cool cosmic paint job on a show car with this black as the black layer and yeah the process used to not make the thing is intense.

Surrey Nanosystems may have developed a clear coat for Vantablack, but it's not been talked about since they work on government contracts too. That's doubtful as they have their proprietary line of Vantablack that doesn't require a clear coat and is extraordinarily durable without a secondary coating that they use for space and government applications.

I remember a shift happening when I was younger, but I don’t know what set it off or why. I used to be able to look up at the stars and imagine the solar system and find comfort in our neighbors. I would imagine covering the whole world with love and energy. Now when I look up at the vastness of the sky, it is like gravity doesn’t exist for a moment and I feel as if I may fall forever. Just thinking about space or the solar system sets me off into a panic now and I haven’t been able to feel that loving connection to the planet for a while now. Maybe I should spend some more time lying in the grass and looking up at the stars. Thank you for this amazing piece of art!

Panic attacks are unfortunately common for me. And I loved how it looked when the stars seemed to rain down from the sky because that's exactly how it feels...like the whole world is falling down around you in a massive cacophony and you feel helpless to stop it. Thank you for sharing your art with us, you truly shine just like a star.

thats so cool ! i was actually hearing some specifications in these "blackest black" type paints and apparently for the black 4.0 they actually recommended painting it with "one thick layer, no cutting and no airbrushing" and i was wondering why there's such a difference on these types of paints

this is cool and i love that he based it on such a strong emotion, i think it would be even cooler tho if you added just a bit at the end and have him take a couple deep breathes, finally settle and then the angel stops and helps him up

Ooo..Firstly, absolutely love every animation I've seen come from you, sir. Definitely earned a sub! Secondly, I believe what you experienced oh so long ago, staring off into the infinite black of space..The Call Of The Void. And, of course I could be wrong and it might have been something entirely else, but it's been known to drive some insane. Again, love your work, and please continue being awesome!
