Apparently the creators of the show said that this episode had been on the back burner for a long time. At least since season 3, but they couldn’t crack it til now.
The thought of the writers struggling to figure out how to make a terminator style story around a snake planet and a flat space tire for over 4 years makes me die laughing.
And now I need Snake Jazz as my ringtone.

The device Christopher Walkin gave him was the plot of the Adam Sandler movie “click”. A quasi-time travel movie.
Underrated film. I know it has some cringy "jokes", but it's sweet at the end.
its basically a remake of Its a Wonderful Life in disguise, but i do remember enjoying it when it came out
Its one of Adam Sandler's better movies. He has a lot of movies like it under his belt but this one was good.
Even better, Walkin's character name was Morty!!!!

This episode reveals that Rick could apparently do time travel stuff but also shows the reason why Rick don't always do it.
Because time traveling is a "B*TCH", and fixing it is a big pain in the "ASS".

Also Rick didn't choose to do time travel stuff. He was kind of forced into it by the snakes.

@@Pir-o smth that I love about this episode is that we have 2 kinds of time travel stories on it, the stupid one and the only kind that sort of works.
The snakes went the route that Terminator uses, the absolutely stupid route where you can change the past and everything stops making sense after you barely begin to do it. Rick, on the other hand, did a closed time loop. He and Morty go back in time and give themselves the tools they needed, saving themselves the trouble of making the costume and inventing "snake time travel" only to later have to do those chores so they can go back in time and give them to themselves.
So yeah, Rick always knew how to time travel, but he also knew that either it spirals out into absolute chaos that eventually gets the Time Cops to beat your ass, or there is no real point in doing it because it doesn't change anything, so he never did it. The snakes only went with the stupid "we can fix bad things from history" first glance, and destroyed themselves doing it. You do _not FUCK with time!_

@@jpdarnell7 I almost died. I have severe asthma and I tend to laugh in a sort of quick-exhale-wheezing manner. When the snake military men went to the snake professor in the snake lecture hall I actually laughed and wheezed so hard that I had to find my inhaler. And I just moved into a new apartment and got a new desk and forgot which little shelf/compartment in my desk I had put it in. So, like, you don't know everybody's story, man. Maybe that other guy did almost die. I almost died. Fuck you.

This episode was basically Dan Harmon dumping on time travel tropes
The whole bit of snakes popping up to kill Hilter/prevent his death was exactly one of those tropes. Hilarious stuff, time travel stories at their core really never make any sense.

@@qwerty9398 I don't think season 3 was lackluster because of lack of ideas. I think it's because of lack of development and trying to change the Rick and Morty formula. Although it isn't as good as the first two seasons, I still really like season 4.

For me, this is one of my top 3 episodes with 🥒 Rick and Morty's Mind Blowers.
I think the "playing the beatles" line was a reference to the beatles' discography being 10 hours long.
Its not supposed to make sense because they don't think time travel makes sense

the Christopher Walken line was a reference to the Adam Sandler movie “Click” where he got a magic remote that he could use to control the world. Christopher Walken was the devil and gave it to him.

The creators said they would never do an episode that would involve Rick and Morty time traveling to change anything that involves their lives... Them time traveling was done on purpose to involve those time creatures that have the ability to fix time when it's broken, and Rick knew this. It wasn't too change anything they did to their lives, it was to prevent/undo anything the snakes would have done in their timeline or would be multiple timelines.
The Christopher Walken reference was to Click, the Remote from click that can pause reality

This is one of my favorite episodes ever. Just missing Hot tub time machine in it. So does Pulp fiction count as a time travel movie? The C-137 Cronenberg hybrid was fantastic.
The way I see it, Slippy in that sentient snake planet was an "alien" to them and she breeded with that one with the glasses. Their brood (new word I learned from the episode) is a hybrid somehow lead either to their downfall or uprise (sentient snake made an evil AI that the brood hybrid become the snake resistance leader?). That in turn became a terminator at NOT at Slippy but at Morty cos it was his fault! I mean if they had killed Slippy in the past then Morty would had bought another snake so Morty was the prime target!
Rick said something about "thats Season Finally Stuff" when he first heard that jerry has something to so with a talking cat on an airport. sure he will gome back.

I like how Jerry was able to survive on the outside of the plane. Although you wouldn't be able to hang on the way Jerry did, it is possible to survive on the outside of a commercial flight like that. There was a pilot that was partially suckes out of the cockpit of a commercial airliner. He was pinned to the plane by the navigator and co-pilot holding his legs. The pilot was believed to be dead until a few hours later when they landed and he was breathing. He suffered from frostbite and lacerations, but recovered and went back to work.

The 80's Punk Rock Snake with a chainsaw is a reference to the arcade game Time Killers, the character is named, Rancid. A streetwise punk from New Chicago who carries a chainsaw. His forehead is marked with an X-shaped scar. It is possible his backstory was somewhat inspired from Charles Manson, who had carved a swastika into his forehead. So that was the perfect snake character to go back in time to try to kill Snake Hitler...

Chicken or the egg, it's Rick's fault for (just a theory), hitting the snake's spaceship causing the surviving snake to think it was under attack so it struck back, could have easily been Rick who would have gotten bit while fixing the tire. Actually, scratch that...You are correct, Morty's fault for taking that snake back there...probably would have done it no matter who got bit.
@@xerozeven I was also alluding to more of a meta situation. The writers shied away from writing time travel stories, making it into a literal joke and putting it on the shelve in Rick's lab. So if it's gonna happen, it needs to be Morty's fault as Rick wouldn't go there [as if the writers wouldn't want to go there intentionally, but rather got wrapped up into this by the stupidity of a character that doesn't listen to Rick].

Instead of theme getting the snakes in trouble, they should have just went back to when they had a flat tire and threatened Morty to stay in the car like how Stewie threatened Brian and stewie of the past to go back in their time machine.

Rough theory on the abe Lincoln to Hitler thing: so with Abe Lincoln around for the reconstruction of the south it would have possibly gone well enough to prevent the great depression in the 1930s due to economic prosperity. Since the great depression never happened and America was a stronger nation Japan might not have attacked pearl harbor leaving America without a reason to join the WW2 effort in Europe. Thus Hitler gains complete control of Europe and moves on to the rest of the world.
A simpler theory is that with Abe Lincoln alive he refused to compromise with the south during reconstruction keeping America in a constant state of civil war until world war 2 also making it so we could not assist on the European front.

Judging from what Rick said, if they killed Slippey and undone the whole thing, their whole race would most likely perish. They might've targeted Rick and Morty cause they saw them as a potential threat or possible something they've done in the future. What I'm wondering is introducing time travel at an early age made so much mindless snakes have free access and abuse time travel, but it didn't stop from coming back ?
Also if it didn't stop them cuz of some time travel rules or whatever, can we assume those 5D dudes can basically alter many timelines, or I guess they could cuz they interacted(and got hit) with multiple timelines at the same time.

You guys should definitely watch the show Gravity Falls! It’s an animated show that’s basically a PG Rick and morty but with a mystery element. It’s by far the best Disney cartoon ever in my opinion!
