i skate 53/54mm. i used to be like a 50-52mm guy but thats crazy now. skate a few weeks and that goes down even more. 8.5/6 is the happy medium board now too. i skate that one stage 4 166. cant see the wheel looking down, just a little axle. no problem.
I’m gonna have to try that. I skate the 166 stage 4 on a retro Dogtown Jesse Hernandez board 10 in but tapers over the trucks to about 9ins so the Stage 4 166 have been working super good.
Still rocking 7.5. But I have an excuse. Acl injury took me off my board at 18 and was off the board for 10 years and now I'm finally getting it fixed. So the reason for the 7.5 is it's not going to be as hard to flip with my acl tear (less strain on my unconncected bones lmao) When it's fixed ima upgrade to 7.8. My feet are a size 8 anyway so the shit is still big under my feet because I ain't like size 11 like a lot of people who skate 8 and up.
Size 8 shoe on an 8 deck is literally the exact same size as my foot it's like a boat for me lol. Equivalent to a size 11 dude rocking an 11 inch deck imo they just wouldn't do it. I don't need to be cool and ride a big deck just because everyone else who are 2 feet taller than me and feet 3-4 sizes bigger does.
7.8 is that happy medium for me. My foot sticks off a 7.8 the exact same amount as a size 10-11 guys foot Hangs off an 8 or 8.25. I'm skating the same purportions as y'all I'm just physically smaller. I dunno how that doesn't make sense for some people.
@@booboocachoo5090 yeah man that's the plan for sure. Easing myself back Into it after the surgery. Getting used to my tricks again and I still have the muscle memory but the leg strenth was what need back. When I get the go ahead from the surgeon to skate is when I'm going to ease my way into making the deck a little bigger.
@@DonnieEls - Can totally relate. Stopped skating in 2001 and was riding a 7.75 board then. Fast forward to 2016 when I started again, 7.75 boards were nearly non-existent, and all the kids at the local park chuckled at seeing such a slim board. Slowly moved up to 8.38 with a 14" wheelbase. Seems to work well. Ultimately it does depend on what you are comfortable with as Ricardo mentioned. Best thing is that you got on your board again! Keep skating!
