    I have always found marking the legs to cut on a level floor easier by shimming up then use the appropriate wood stock as a guide using the shortest leg as a reference. Thanks for design idea bro!

      Yup, lots of different ways but the videos would be even longer if I covered everything 🤣

    I appreciate your effort in making these videos. I don’t have interest in turning bowls, but legs and chair backs instead. Your insight would be great.

    Thank you Owen for this informative and clear series on making a pole lathe and also for providing the plans on your website. I have been wanting to make one of these for some time, and now with your excellent series it has provided me with all I need ( except the wood) for making one. I purchased several of your spoons last year.from your website.

    Fantastic stuff! I can't wait to build one, hopefully it'll be around this time next year that I'll get to it. Gives me plenty of time to memorize all this.
    Keep up the good work!

    What is this thing ! I’ve never seen one in action. I just carve spoons and it seems like you know about a whole world that I just discovered through your videos. So good job, post more videos. I noticed you go much slower than me while stropping and edge. These videos are great !

      Thanks Trevor. Pole lathes are great fun to use and you end up some really unique items because of the way it works. I'll be doing more turning videos in the future 👍

    Where did you get the chuck holder thingy, that means you can use the auger bit as a scotch auger?

      Ah, one of my friends makes them. Unfortunately he has just gone travelling for 6 months but I'll try to let people know when he comes back. It's a great tool

    I don't have access to round timber like you used to split the legs and bungee uprights, so would it possible to use chiseled and sawn square mortise and tenon for the legs and uprights? Or should I use a different method if I only have milled lumber to work with?

    • @OwenThomaswoodcraft
      @OwenThomaswoodcraft  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that would absolutely work. There's no one way of doing things. Try and get the angles the same though, so that you get a good footprint for the lathe 👍

      @@OwenThomaswoodcraft Cool! I sort of figured a sawn tenon would work, but just wanted to be sure there wasn't a difference in the structural aspect that I wasn't aware of. Thanks!
