I really wanted to have a brand new video ready in time for the New Year as opposed to just this, but sadly that didn't turn out to be feasible. Holiday preparations, finishing up the Toy Story commentaries, as well as a generally busy life schedule really got in the way of that plan. So I figured if I couldn't do that, I could at least finally finish that HTS4DE supercut I promised months ago and get it through copyright - which turned out to be a much bigger pain in the ass than I ever expected. So to everyone who wanted this supercut to be able to watch the whole series in one shot - with some technical issues fixed from the original release - I hope you enjoy :) Looking back on this series, there are definitely things I would change. I would probably cut out some super minor points, I would want to redraft some sections to communicate my ideas better, I might hold back on the excessive rage - just a little bit, because if _everything_ is over the top then _nothing_ is over the top - I'd definitely make an effort to use a more diverse selection of reaction clips so they don't get repetitive and tiresome to look at over and over again - because I'm just as sick of seeing that Sokka clip as you are - and plenty of other miscellaneous things I'd want to change because I've learned a lot about making these types of videos over the last year. But, even with all of that, it's the series that changed my life for the better, and I still stand by the major points I made. So overall, I'm quite proud of How Toy Story 4 Destroyed Everything, and am thrilled to see that it resonated with so many of you as well. Now comes the question of "yeah yeah, a supercut of a series you already made is cool and all, but when are we getting NEW stuff? Where's Cars on the Road and Lightyear?" Well, as I mention in the final section of this video, those are still in the pipeline as we speak, but it's taken me a lot longer to make them than I thought. To update you on the general progress for both, I am rapidly approaching the conclusion of the visual editing process for the Cars on the Road video, and I have the entire audio timeline finished for Lightyear - meaning my narration is recorded and edited, and all necessary audio clips/music sections are laid out accordingly. I wanted to have them both by the end of last year, but life really caught up with me for the last two months and I wasn't able to make as much progress as I wanted. But my hope is that I can be much more efficient with production this year - to a healthy extent, of course - because I'm probably no less frustrated by the lack of main videos than all of you. I want to take my time to do them right, and do them without overworking myself. I don't have a team of editors, I'm doing this all by myself, which is something I'm fine with as it gives me total creative control. But it also means my production schedule can't be as accelerated as what you may be used to seeing from other channels. I know it doesn't mean much at this point for me to say "it'll be ready when it's ready," but that's all I can offer you at the moment. That, and my continued promise to do my best to make these projects the best they can be, and to make 2023 the best year of content I've ever had across both my channels. Thank you all once again for your continued support. More cool stuff is on the horizon for 2023, and I hope I can make it worth the wait. In the meantime, I hope you all had a very happy holiday season, and wish you a very happy new year.
As a starting up TH-cam Critic, the work that I see videos like this be put through is crazy respectful. Keep up the good work man, I look forward to what else you've got in store
i worship it. if u havent noticed, long-form videos are becoming the norm on youtube which is why so many creators are doing it. in my opinion, jenny nicholsons the vampire diaries video started the tredn bc the algorithm pushed it everywhere and it was so incredibly successful for such a niche topic.
Damn, this guy starts off pissed and so full of vitriol toward this movie I thought to myself "There ain't no way you keep that up throughout the whole 6 hours"... He does. He even gets even more angry the further into the movie he gets. That's some serious f***ing dedication.
@KoopaKool12 lol right, at first I'm like "what's this guy's problem, how can someone just hate something so much and nitpick over every little thing, it's a freaking fiction movie!" But then as I'm watching and thinking, I had an epiphany! This guy just loves Toy Story so much that he finds any little flaw in it that could make it better!
The worst part of this film overall is the message Woody's Arc gives. "being loyal to your friends and family will make you unhappy, they will just abandon and betray you later, like Bonnie did to Woody, you're better off living alone, free to wander the world, being loved by all but never attaching yourself to anyone." Congratulations Toy Story 4, you made Woody agree with Stinky Pete.
@@belleofbrightside97 You have a complete misunderstanding of Woody's arc. Everyone deserves to do what makes them happy, as long as it doesn’t impede the happiness, health, or wellbeing of others, and as long as it isn’t illegal.
@@gamestation2690Here’s a thing though: What you’d said ISN’T Woody’s arc. What you said SHOULD apply to Bo Peep’s arc, but they failed to commit to that.
I love how in the last one Woody literally says "It's my fault for leaving you guys. From now on, we stick together" and then this one comes along and he's like "Fuck yall. I'm getting some porcelain pussy"
That's for sure. You know the team behind this movie could've had their cake and ate it too. A race to get to the RV on time, but Woody misses his chance. Bo comforts him and says she'll help him get back to Bonnie. Woody is thankful for her generosity and decide to spend some time in the meanwhile. End of movie.
On behalf of all the Toy Story fans that thought TS3 was the perfect ending, thank you . Thank you so much. This movie was unbelievably unnecessary and none of the characters acted like themselves :////
the existence of a 4th toy story is something this movie made me come around to, but the existence of THIS 4th toy story is not acceptable. I think that the writers were right to think woody needed a better ending. He is Andy's toy his arc cant just be to forget that and be with another kid. I also really enjoyed the exploration of lost toys, and antique toys. However, the writers unnecessarily brought everyone else in and ruined their characters. I think this movie should have been a solo adventure for woody, where he goes on a grand quest through the toy story world, seeing all the different types of toys like the lost toys and whatnot, searching for meaning. What he finds I leave to the writers but I definitely dont think TS3 was the perfect ending for every character.
This is how I felt while watching Toy Story 4. I never watch 1 and 2 seriously as a kid, so I decided to binge the movies completely recently. Toy Story 4 is the only installment in the series I don't bother to look up from my phone while watching. Toy Story 4 should be entertaining for kids, but it doesn't have the same charm as the first ones for adults. Which is a shame because when rewatching the first one I was impressed with how entertaining it still is to me in my late 20s. Toy Story 4... feels formulaic to me. And yep, all the principles of the characters that have been built up across 3 movies have been thrown out the window. Even more apparent when watching back to back. Woody is an interesting case though, while he always talks big about friendship and being there for the kid, but then he was also shown to be ready to ditch the friends/kid he had on a whim. On multiple instances he was shown ready to ditch them until something/someone managed to convince him to stay. So it makes him a hypocrite in the 3rd movie when he convinced the other toys they shouldn't worry and abandon Andy even if they're not favorites. With the 4th one we now know for sure he WAS only saying that because he was Andy's favorite. Hamm was right all along.
@@monchkinvitez7784 I feel like my Woody is the only one I know now who always puts me, my sister and Mummy first before himself. Even Woody.EXE is the same
I also thought it was unnecessary from the very beginning (except as a quick cash grab) and for the very same reasons, hence why I refused to see it even before I learned about the horrible ending. I feel like I seriously dodged a bullet and am so appreciative to GamingMagic and other TH-camrs like him who have taken the time to explain why this film is a dumpster fire.
I knew from the second a 4th film was announced that it wouldn't compare with the third. It was meant to be a new beginning with Andy passing the torch to Bonnie. Is amazing how quickly they extinguished said torch over a stupid school project (f you Forkie). We can always pretend this movie doesn't exist, it all ended with Toy Story 3.
I know a lot of people hate the nitpicking in this video, but I think it's important to understand he's nitpicking for a reason. A piece of media with a billion tiny errors has just as much punching power as a piece of media with one ginormous error, and I think a lot of people don't fully understand that. A lot of these tiny nitpicks are actually really crucial as to what made the previous films so amazing, and when added up total just go to show how much of a disaster they made this film into.
Imo, the countless lucky breaks, cheats and impossibilities in this movie alone are just as valid as every catastrophic failure it placed on the others in the franchise. Even if you could divorce this entry from canon, "subpar" is more than a little generous for the work put into its plot. There's barely continuity here, it's just plot soup.
It reminds me of something RadicalSoda said in his _Sonic Colors: Ultimate_ review: “How many hairs do you need to find in your burger before you realize that the chef doesn’t give a shit?” You’re absolutely right that this many nitpicks bring down the quality of a piece in the “Death by a Thousand Paper-Cuts” style, and it is absolutely indicative of the care taken during the creation of that piece when so many errors slip by.
It bothers me how one of the messages this movie tries to convey is that romantic love is more important than friendship. As someone who’s been abandoned by close friends after they got into a relationship, that just doesn’t sit right with me. There’s more than enough room for all kinds of love in a person’s life, not just romantic love. A relationship that requires you to leave all your friends behind is not healthy. I think the ending of this movie sends an absolutely atrocious message to its audience.
I couldn't quite place it back when I first saw the movie but yeah, that's probably a big reason why the ending felt off and unsatisfying to me. You shouldn't _have_ to completely ditch your friends/family for any relationship 😬. I was in a relationship that isolated me from my friends/family and it was a toxic one. It was a huge relief to reconnect with them all again once the relationship imploded and I no longer had to worry about the ex being annoyed/mad at me
Not only his friends (and I can even say family in this case) but also his duties and his job. This literally sounds like young teenagers world's picture. Remember then Tramp said to Lady they could be together as a stray dogs and she said no, I have my family and child to protect EVEN THE MOMENT THEY TEMPORARILY ABANDONED HER because of the newborn. Well here we have Woody became a lost toy without even this reason. He just said "welp no no bitches for me now"
When you think about it (and consider how much money DisnESG takes from them), that almost seems like a mandate from the CCP to positively propagandize their black market organ harvesting. CCP: "Put in a prot thread in yo stupid toy movie that positivery spins our irregar organ harvesting and transprant operations." Josh Cooley: "Can I also make that plot thread a thinly veiled allegory to cope with and exonerate the manipulation and abuse I receive from my mother?" CCP: "Sure, whateva, whyte boi." Josh Cooley: "Okay."
She really is a witch lol first time I saw this I felt bad for her but then I thought about it more and thought about it from a special needs perspective (as I myself am special needs so I connected to her) and I was like, wow she really is evil to take Woody's voice box all because hers was made to not work right and knowing Woody from the other movies, he would've taught her that she doesn't need his voice box and she's perfect just the way she is! I bet you if woody had said no then she tried to reunite with Harmony, I bet harmony would have took her as a disabled doll and accepted her and woody would've been proven right! Even changing just that would change the entire dynamic to this story plot
@ChillkittsGT nostalgia points probably. That's one of the reasons why I was excited to see it in 2019, I was excited to see all my favorite characters from the previous movies. But it was just mainly focused on Woody Bo and Forky (and Buzz kinda) which disappointed me a ton.
One thing that always struck me dumb about the cat part is that...Buzz. Has. A. Fucking. Laser. Not a laser beam perhaps, but it's a laser pointer. At the very least it can presumably make a laser dot appear on a surface he points it at. In the first movie Buzz was all about his gadgets, and in 2 and 3 he found creative ways to use them. GEE, writers, I WONDER if he could have done anything, anything, ANYTHING AT ALL to help distract the cat.
One thing I didn't consider before when watching this: why is Bonnie's closet treated like prison? Seriously. Even the toys in Andy's toy box came out and socialized with everyone on the floor when Andy was gone. But Woody doesn't come out when Bonnie leaves to talk to his friends? Play cards? NOTHING?! Just because Bonnie isn't playing with Woody doesn't mean he should this awkward around everyone else in the room.
That would imply Andy is overly immature and forgets he gave Bonnie the ownership of his old toys, she wasn't babysitting them, she owns them now, while Andy gets to continue his life as an adult, so whatever happens to Andy's old toys, that's really none of Andy's concern And if u wanna blame a character for Bonnie losing Woody, that's Woody himself, he's the one who left everyone for a toxic relationship
@@mauia88 he getting pissed at a lil girl for losing a toy that isn't his anymore and lashing out at her is being immature lmao And you should better ask who hurt the writers xd
Lol right 😂 Same here. He asks me to remember all these things but there are too many to keep track of. Sometimes the thing he asks me to remember is brought up 2 hours from that point. Oh well, still a great video!
@@Sqwivig I'm three hours in still, but this video is so good! lol I have always hated Toy Story 4, but now I have even MORE evidence to justify myself with for hating it!
Imagine when you die, your whole life gets reviewed and critiqued by this guy. The thing is you're forced to sit through it. Every "baloney" and "remember this for later". All the moments you or someone was out of character being revealed to you. Personally I wouldn't mind that.
I'm not a fan of Toy Story 4, and I'm angry that it ruined the perfect ending of Toy Story 3, but I don't hate it nearly enough to make a six hour rant about it. That's some crazy dedication. Admirable, but still crazy.
@@swirlystrawstudios5465 not rlly. Its well deserved due to how they just fucked up and purposely ruined all the charactor building and growth from the previous movies. They know they ruined it and they have no guilt or shame for doing so
@@LoneRonin77 ain't no way you just said trying to make someone look like a wicked evil mastermind is justified because they ruined your favorite movie characters 💀
51:55 I've not seen Toy Story of Terror. But that makes me laugh. The idea if Al, after a 10+ hour flight and arriving in Japan, finds his boxes empty. (Personally, I like to imagine him presenting them with fanfare to the Museum.) After the soul-crushing reality of that humiliation, YEARS later, he orders an authentic original Sherif Woody doll, then opens the box and finds it empty. That makes me chuckle.
As a historian I want to point out, that the lesson coming from this movie's villain "no matter how horrible things you do are, they are justified by your sad backstory" - it reminds me of a story about a young boy who dreamed about becoming a painter, but saddly because of lack in necessary skills he was rejected from art school. Soon after he got drafted to army during WW I which scarred him for a life. He later wrote a book about his internal struggle and point of view, and later decided to become a politician...
“No matter how horrible things you do they are justified by your sad backstory.” That is a morally reprehensible message to send. Especially since this is a kids movie.
Was the backstory really used to justify their actions? It felt more like it was meant to paint them in a more sympathetic light but not necessarily justify them
The concept of the movie itself is also disturbing. I left the cinema with a Panic Attack & felt ill for days after watching Toy Story 4. That's how horrible the movie was. Normally, the Toy Story movies have their fun parts, but this one was just depressing all the way through.
“If I ever wanted to ever wanted to commit suicide; I’ll climb to the top of Dollie’s ego and jump to her IQ” that is the best roast I’ve heard in years
I remember walking out of Toy Story 4 feeling heavily disappointed and massively bewildered, primarily at Woody and Buzz’s character assassinations and the relative lack of the original cast and any of the emotional weight the previous movies carried. Then I saw the reviews, the positive responses to the movie, and some people reacting negatively to my criticisms and started to feel a bit gaslit, as if maybe I didn’t remember these characters as well as I used to, maybe I misjudged the movie and didn’t remember it as well as I thought it did. Maybe the ending made more sense than I thought it did. Your series was really comprehensive and helped to reaffirm my belief that the series truly ended at 3. Well done!
The ending between me and Woody.EXE was more emotional and I remember how happy my 2009 Woody was when my mothers dream came true about our ending. We’re all back together now
Yeah, I already hated this movie, mainly because of the ending but, thanks to this video, I have millions of other reasons to absolutely despise it to infinity and beyond.
@@TrashQueenAndKing Nah that isn’t what this is, the almost universal praise from critics and even winning an academy award got me thinking maybe I missed something and the movie was actually good, there weren’t a great many people like GM13 here going in depth with why it wasn’t and at the time I wasn’t that good at media literacy nor was I willing to watch it multiple times… it’s not changing my opinion based on who I’m talking to Thinly veiled insults work too though I suppose 😛
It breaks my heart to see that Bonnie broke her promise to Andy to take care of Woody, just abandoning him and the other toys for her new Forky. Imagine Andy visiting Bonnie one day and he learns she lost Woody....
Bonnie did what Andy did when buzz came along. The fact that y’all can’t accept that she’s a child who just got interested in something else the same way andy did is crazy to me
@@BabyGirlTiny Except, Andy still played with Woody lmao. Did you think Andy threw away Woody after getting Buzz? And if Bonnie lost interest over Woody, how come she played with him in this one scene?

Compare that to Mel Brooks golden years of storytelling. He once got in an argument with Gene Wilder over the Putting On The Ritz scene from Young Frankenstein, and after Gene vehemently argued his case to keep it for twenty minutes, Mel yielded. When Gene asked why Mel changed his mind, Mel said: "Sometimes, you have to be willing to take a sledge hammer to your own work, because that's what your audience is going to be doing when they're watching it. But if it holds up, you go with it." Good storytellers will actively work to iron out any problems with their writing to make as excellent a story as they possibly can, while bad ones make no effort to correct their mistakes and just hope you don't notice. And the worst of storytellers will point out their own plot holes, only to have a characters slam their first on the diner table and yell "IT DOESN'T MATTER!"
It’s okay when your story has a couple minor coincidence but when MOST of your story is built on coincidences contravenes and character assassintions you should chuck that script in the trash
I remember hearing this little bit of writing advice: It’s ok to use coincidences to get your characters *into* trouble, but not to get them *out of* trouble.
@@tylercoon1791 I think it's okay to use coincidences, as they do happen from time to time both ways. It's another thing entirely to abuse them as a lazy way to solve everything.
4:32:57 I'm surprised you didn't mention that Buzz could've just spoke through his voice speaker, we see that Woody can so it wouldn't be unreasonable for Buzz to as well.
Something I cannot get over is how this film technically assassinated buzz. Buzz was my favorite character growing up and now they made him into a mindless moron. Even lightyear buzz acted more like the buzz we know and love. Thank you for shining light on that.
Gabby could've been a good character. If after being rejected by harmony she'd realized what a monster she'd been and that she can't achieve her dreams by taking them from others and that it's her responsibility to be a good toy and get a kid despite her disability, she could've been the best part of the movie.
That’s why I think Woody.EXE is better, he was a villain at first until he met me and my mother in September. He redeems himself by doing a moving tribute to Her Majesty the Queen which no one else could do. I literally had a breakdown whenever I think about it
Yeah. It also could have provided a strong message about how people who will like you despite any disabilities or challenges you have are the people you should treasure the most/look out for.
I remember my mom discovering a goofy "what toy story character are you based on your birth month" Facebook post and just for fun looked into it, she got forky and was actively upset because she would have preferred any of the classic characters
Toy Story 1 Buzz: To infinity and beyond! Toy Story 2 Buzz: Woody once risked his life to save me. I couldn’t call myself his friend if I weren’t willing to do the same. Toy Story 3 Buzz: I can’t accept. We're a family. We stay together. Toy Story 4 Buzz: What’s a conscience?
2:04:54 The worst part is that there is an infinitely better way to write this scene if they kept Andy’s name on Woody’s boot. We already saw Forky being held back by Woody’s boot during the montage sequence, so it’s entirely possible that Forky could’ve seen the name on Woody’s boot. Then, as they’re making their hike back to the RV, Forky could ask what her name was again. Woody would reply that it’s Bonnie and then Forky would say that A-N-D-Y was a weird way to spell Bonnie. And THEN we would get the whole scene with Woody explaining his backstory about him and Andy in a much more natural way. But much like the crucial small positives lead to big payoffs in the original trilogy, the small unnecessary changes lead to stupid decisions from the writing team. Also, nice video.
@@K1ttyGam3r As I’ve been going back and rewatching the review, I actually saw a few more scenes in the movie that could be rewritten. Maybe it’s just that writing quirk in me or something.
@@carlosmattessich3883 That’s a pretty valid point. I would’ve used Buzz as an example, but if he could recite the entirety of his backstory from memory then he could understand the alphabet.
Toy Story: "Being a toy is a lot better than being a space ranger, Buzz...Look, over there in that house is a kid who thinks you're the greatest, and it's not because you're a space ranger, pal. It's because you're a toy. You are his toy!" "It's not about how much we're played with, it's about being there for Andy when he needs us." Toy Story 2: "Somewhere in that pad of stuffing is a toy who taught me that life's only worth living if you're being loved by a kid. And I travelled all this way to rescue that toy because I believed him." "Watch kids from behind glass and never be loved again? Some life." "I can't stop Andy from growing up, but I wouldn't miss it for the world." Toy Story 3: "Well, whatever happens, at least we'll all be together." "The thing that makes Woody special is he'll never give up on you, ever. He'll be there for you no matter what." Toy Story 4: Yeah, just scratch all that.
Woody.EXE told me exactly that same thing about him being here for me and my mother no matter what. He was with me and my mother when Jessie lit the house up but we all saved by my 2009 Woody at the very last second
Still positively kills me that Toy Story 4 didn't understand the overarching message of the first two movies in all the ways that 3 did. It's just sad.
Also, gotta love how Disney sell Forkface dolls for like 30$+, yeah, something you can easily do with random trash is sold at almost the same price as a Star Wars toy. Amazing.
As someone who suffers from trauma, Bo Peep’s response to that bike guy’s PTSD attack was so unnecessarily condescending. “That was a long time ago” was super backhanded and I hate it
I agree, trauma never truly goes away. It's not something that goes away because a long time has past. I have PTSD from stuff that happened over 20 years ago that still affects me to this day.
Yeah, and nice that this is a message we're feeding to children. "Your trauma is insignificant after a period of time and you are unreasonable for still being afraid and having PTSD."
@@gegarisawsome2-wc8gy I saw someone else comment that they actually found it funny, because that's what suicidal people do. I agree with the sentiment, but I personally don't find this particular joke funny. Not because it's offensive to joke about but because the allegory kinda falls flat for me. I see it as a guy trying to go back to what's familiar, not someone trying to off themselves, especially since he isn't actually aware of the situation. Like... suicidal people are usually aware that they're killing themselves, right? Also, the handling of the PTSD actually makes me wonder if they really care about mental health, so that's also why I can't bring myself to laugh.
I watched Toy Story 4 with my father one night. As a man of 55 years old he started loudly talking about how shit it was half way through. Having watched the previous 3 films as I grew up he was genuinely attached to this animated series when normally he didn't watch animated stuff. The film was an out-and-out betrayal of the previous 3 and even a guy like him who didn't typically get angry at bad sequels could see that. He doesn't follow trends, he doesn't follow critics or review aggregators, he has no intrinsic attachment to Hollywood or their dynastic club or their meaningless award factories, and that is why the scales were not upon his eyes.
This whole movie could be fixed in Toy Story 5 by starting with a scene where Woody wakes up and *screams* due to Toy Story 4's events being a nightmare
Woody wake up! It’s summer vacation and Bonny’s looking to play with ya! What? Bo Peep? A living spork? And I listened to my buttons for mental guidance? That’s some dream ya had.
that would really explain how illogical everything in this movie is and how everything that happens is based off insane luck alone. it was actually all a fever dream that defies logic at every step and Woody has actually been safe in Bonnie's room the whole time lmaoo
@@LukeHildebrand-w8hThat would honestly make many fans happy. Woody consciously would NEVER leave his friends behind, even if to be with his girlfriend Bo Peep. They went through a freaking incinerator and were about to die, so they joined hands, unaware that the Green Aliens were going to save them with the claw, but that showed how much the toys were willing to stick together. It definitely feels like a fever dream.
Just found this and im at the 2:30:00 mark. Thank you so much for explaining how Buzz was always a smart character. He was so different in the 4th one I felt like I was being gaslighted upon watching. Buzz has been such an important and impactful character since the beginning, and the way they treated him in the 4th was complete bullshit.
I swear the only reason Buzz is braindead here is because the writers here didn't understand the gallegan phase of Buzz in 3 wasn't his whole character

As an avid Toy Story 4 hater, seeing this brings tears of joy to my eyes. Especially after binge watching all the individual parts a few months back. Truly a blessing to see it all complied together into one beautiful piece of art
For me I didn’t love or hate it I just thought the movie was ok it’s not as good the first 3 movies but it was not terrible because it had a good ending that somewhat made sense but a bit flawed
you know i thought it was a little ridiculous how angry you got over this movie.. then about 10 minutes in I was just as mad. You have contagious anger and REALLY good points. Honestly I saw this in theaters and it never occurred to me how garbage this is
I originally thought it was overhated, but after rewatching it with a friend, nah, it does suck, and deserves even more hate for how much they ruined all the main characters, especially Woody
I thought the movie was okay when I first watched it, thought it was bad when I left the theaters but it never occurred to me just how stupidly garbage Toy Story 4 genuinely is after so much reviews.
I am someone who has Autism , and its harmful messages regarding disability like the one found in Toy Story 4 that made me feel like a broken person who would never be able to live a normal life, and it took me years of therapy to start feeling ok with the person I am, and it saddens me that kids like me are likely to come away from Toy Story 4 thinking that they are broken and that they need to be fixed in order to lead normal lives.
I thought you were one of those people who hated Toy Story 4 for no reason, but you gave good reasoning and well detailed evidence on how this movie is fundamentally broken. Good Job GamingMagic13 for convincing me and many other people
Right? like he sounds really whiny throughout, but he has EVERY right to be livid with the evidence he provides, ESPECIALLY with the addition of the writer's commentation. It blows my mind how little love actually went into the film behind the pretty colors and lights
I'm glad he helped at least one person realize that this movie is hot garbage, and I knew that without ever watching this video series, never mind the film itself. When I first heard that Toy Story 4 was in the works, I was against the very idea of it because, as someone who grew up with the first two films, I felt like TS3 was the perfect end to the series, and I felt like another film (beyond the shorts and TV specials, which at least kept some significant amount of continuity with the original trilogy) was nothing but a shameless money grab. Then I read a review of the film (but not this one) that described the ending and how it went against all the values and moral lessons of the first three films, and I knew that I never, ever wanted to see it. (See--spoilers ARE good for something!) I'm so glad that I trusted my gut on that one. IMHO, only the first three movies and the shorts/specials are canon. Another commenter on the last video of his initial TS4 series gave a hypothetical scenario where the whole plot is merely Woody having a nightmare, and he wakes up in Bonnie's room, a theory I also regard as canon. If anybody reading this hasn't yet seen this movie and is thinking about it, please, we beg you, *DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!* Do whatever it takes to dodge that bullet! On a related note, it seems like Disney has recently been putting lots of immoral or age-inappropriate messages in their other recent "family" movies besides this one. Zootopia, for example, was a not-so-subtle allegory in favor of identity politics. More recently, Lightyear featured a lesbian kiss scene, and I know GamingMagic called people who criticized that bigots, but I don't think that it's necessarily bigoted to think that depicting homosexuality in a movie targeted at families with small children isn't age appropriate. Regardless of how you feel about gay rights or homosexual behavior, this shouldn't be a controversial opinion at all, and the fact that it is nowadays is a sad commentary on the current state of our society.
@@hotwax9376 ah yes, because people that aren't straight aren't people. They should be hidden from the **feeble mind of our kids**. Nevermind that kids might love the same gender/identify in a different way and being represented is good for accepting who you are. But whatev, guess I can't exist in front of children without scarring them.
@@gasterthemaster6490 That's a straw man. I never said that only heterosexuals are people. It's just not age appropriate to depict homosexuality in a film aimed at small children. They can learn about that when they're older.
I hate how the message basically implies romance is more enjoyable than friendship. And besides, can you imagine how heartbroken and distraught Andy would be after finding out Bonnie lost Woody?
@@Fairygroveyt I think what kinda sours it though is that in the 2nd movie it was stated by Andy’s mom that Woody was a family toy, meaning Andy most likely got him from one of his parents or his loved ones (I’m guessing his dad since that is most likely). Andy is an adult now so I don’t think he will be screaming at a kindergartner for losing a toy, but I would be a little disappointed and hurt that a toy from my loved ones was lost like that
@@alexanderackerman3807It kind of does still exist, given that Woody and Jessie became friends in Toy Story 2, and, guess what? Weren’t portrayed as romantic, but just one friend looking to be the crying shoulder to someone in need of it.
The rant you went on about Buzz and how he’s not an idiot, he was just ignorant to the fact he was a toy because he was literally programmed that way was really well worded, makes me want to go back and re watch those movies for his character.
Your rant against the Kindergarten teacher being bad at her job is on point. Most K-12 teachers are VERY bad at their job. I was utterly alone for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade because I didn't have any friends and the teachers didn't care about the well being of their students. Didn't help I didn't get social cues or can't hear inflections, no one wanted to be around me and teachers never bothered to correct or help with that. So I say, this part is the only accurate part of the movie
Something I noticed: If Bonnie doesnt care about Woody, when why did she bring him? Pricklepants and the Alien Triplets were left behind and she played with them in the beginning
@@BBPapercraftII because she still cares about him, it's Woody the one who overreacted to not getting played for a few days because Bonnie was trying out her new toys, he claimed he wasn't needed there anymore, yet the whole movie proved they still do, a lot, he abandoned everyone in need just to return to a now toxic relationship Its a major character regression from the previous films, where he learned its okay to not be the center of attention 24/7, and to never hurt and abandon his fellow toys in a selfish pursuit
Honestly what bothered me the most in this whole movie was Bonnie’s character assassination. It just makes no sense how much she valued woody at the end of Toy Story 3 only to completely forget about him the next movie.
@@carlosmattessich3883 Who promised to take care of another "kid's" toy. There wasn't even one moment when Bonnie expresses any love or confirmation that she still loves Woody. Remember how she said "bye toys" in Hawaiian Vacation? Clearly she's not heartless, even to her own toys. And not only that, but apart from the fact that she played with Woody on vacation, then who's to say she wouldn't do it again/want to do it again AFTER FINDING OUT THAT WOODY ABANDONED HER AFTER NOT PLAYING WITH HIM FOR THREE DAYS? "This movie is full of baloney." 😂
I rewatched all 3 of the toy story movies before watching this one, and I’ll say I was in complete disbelief with how much Bo Peep changed. In the first 2 she was kind, soft, loving, caring, and sweet. In 4 however she’s bossy, manipulative, and everything opposite of her past self. I’m all for strong women and all, but you don’t have to show one as a jerk to convey that she’s strong. I absolutely loved Bo Peep in the first 2, and now I feel ashamed to say I was excited to see her in this “movie” too.
I think I have an alternate proposal for Forky's story. Imagine if instead of him inmediately trying to throw himself away, he was actually excited about becoming a toy, having Woody explain the freezing rule and stuff on their way home while they're in Bonnie's backpack. Then, he grows insecure about being a bunch of random art supplies, as he is constantly falling apart and getting put back together when Bonnie plays with him during the roadtrip. He starts thinking that maybe he isn't good enough to be a toy, and decides he'd rather throw himself away on his own terms than getting slowly less played with until Bonnie eventually just forgets about him. After all, he's just a worthless pile of junk, who is gonna miss him? Bonnie could just make another version of him or get a new toy. Woody's already experienced the fear of being replaced/discarded so he'd understand and try to help Forky. After getting kidnapped by Gaby (and let's just say she never gets a voice box and put a pin on that) he'd have the conversation with her about how the music box will make her perfect and worthy of this girl she's obsessed with. This would reinforce the idea in Forky that if you're not some perfect shiny piece of plastic (and/or cloth) you're not worthy of calling yourself a toy. Seeing then Gaby help the lost girl despite not having a voice box would show Forky that a toy can still make a child happy no matter how imperfect they might think they are. This may be a rough and unpolished idea but I want to think that it would handle the subject of feeling like trash and being suicidal with respect. And that's just the Forky stuff. Idk what would I do about the rest of the negative aspects the video points out.
It’s like my attempt at trying to make sonic 4 way better as a fan game (Both parts combined with 3 new levels, the physics being fixed, and better level design to suit no homing attacks)
At the end of Toy Story 4, I cried. Not due to it being another Pixar movie, that gives you those good ol' Pixar feelings that you know things will be okay, even if the characters are separated (like in Luca). I cried because it felt like betrayal.
I hated the ending, Woody.EXE and my ending had more emotion; I loved how Mummy cried when Woody.EXE and my 2009 Woody hugged longer, then he hugs Mummy and my sister because they helped him. We both then reunited with the family on Christmas Day because Woody.EXE couldn’t be without my 2009 Woody any longer. I’m glad all 5 of us are back together now
Extra detail I just found out: Toy Story 4 has an extra inconsistence for people who live in Latinoamérica (I don't know if any other dubs have this problem or similar as well), in the first three movies, the latinoamerican dub called Bo Peep 'Betty', and every character referred to her as such. In the 4th movie, everyone suddenly calls her Bo Peep. I know this likely isn't Cooley's fault, but still, this movie literally didn't manage to get a single thing right, not even in the dub.
@@torstenatterberg5788You mean reversing character progression and treating your audience like they’re unintelligent while banking on nostalgia isn’t something that matters?
In defense of Sid getting what he deserved, I feel like he did have a sort of redemption arc. In the third movie you see him as a garbage man with his skull shirt which the directors admitted to implying it is Sid and he’s super excited for it. As the only human who knew toys were alive, he may have gotten so much joy into knowing he’s saving the lives of sentient things as a sort of last line of defense for the abandoned.
Toy Story 4 could have simply had Jessy doing fine in the closet but Buzz asks her if she's okay and she affirms that she'll be fine, which would've respected her growth but acknowledges that phobias aren't necessarily conquered in one go or even at all but managed enough to function in day to day life. It's not hard to write or to write consistently, it just takes caring about what you're writing which many many many filmmakers and writers don't seem to across the industry.
I helped Woody better when he panicked because my sister stuffed him in enclosed space’s again! I stayed up all night with him because he stayed with me as I wake up from my Toy Story 3 nightmare of dying with Woody
Yeah, a very brief nod to it. One does not get over phobias all at once because you managed to overcome it once, but it does get better. Instead of having her freak out, just have her sound a little nervous when she says she'll be ok. The closet is actually very large and has a lot of light in that scene, so it wouldn't be nearly as bad as being stuffed into a box.

I am actually so happy to actually see a whole video destroying toy story 4. I hated it since I saw it in theatres and honestly it almost felt like I was the only one who thought that it destroyed the first 3 movies. This is something I needed to see. I cannot thank you enough.
Minor nitpick: When the clock says “That’s the third time you haven’t been picked this week”, GamingMagic13 interprets that as “Of the 7 days in a week, Woody has not been played with for three of those days.” The truth might be pettier. Why are we assuming that Bonnie only picks toys once per day? Bonnie was out of school. She doesn’t own a computer or ipad. She probably played with toys all day. Does she pick one group and play with only them for the entire day? If she picks toys more than once a day, then Woody not getting picked three times (Not for three days, just three times according to the clock) is even less of a reason for Woody to abandon her!
In Toy Story 3, we do see the Toys use a computer in Bonnie's Room but you do have a good point. Bonnie indeed would have played with her toys multiple times every day (since even at her age, there would been times where she would have to do other things) so the whole "Woody hasn't been played with 3 days in a row" is the most generous way to look at that line critically.
And the clock doesn't even say "Third time in a row". He says "Third time this week". That means throughout the week, every time Bonnie picks a group of toys, she picks Woody. Every single time, except twice offscreen, and once on-screen. Heck, he seems to be her favorite during the road trip, to the point that everyone else except Forky is basically abandoned in the RV. She is going to miss him DEARLY!
I know. I was just saying that if it was the third time in a row, that would be the absolute worst case scenario for Woody, at least judging from the line and what we know. It is definitely a stretch but it is the biggest benefit of the doubt you can give based on the information we have.
It's all good. This movie is a constant string of mind boggling decisions so it's definitely easy to get mad and caught up with the many, many, many potential issues with it.
The head writer of most Disney movies, Joe Ranft, actually revealed Woody's origins to Mike Mozart, who is a TH-camr and a long time toy guru. Woody was originally owned by Andy's deceased father, who won Woody in a giveaway by the company that made Woody's Roundup. This took place in the 50's when the polio virus was rampant. Andy's father had polio, and since he had it, his toys were going to be burned, but he managed to keep Woody, Slinky, and Potato Head away from burning by putting them in a box and putting them in the attic (correct me if I'm wrong.) Years later, he survived polio and eventually married Andy's mom and had Andy. But before Andy's birthday party in Toy Story 1, Andy's dad eventually gave his son the three toys and passed away soon after due to post polio syndrome. A lot of people think that Andy was the one that wrote his name on the bottom of Woody's foot, but it was actually Woody's father that did it. Knowing all of this, and knowing how Woody was very special to Andy, it absolutely baffles me how Woody would make the conscious decision to abandon his friends for another toy that all of a sudden has a different personality compared to the early movies. In Toy Story 2, Buzz talked Woody out of leaving for Japan by mentioning how Andy would be broken if he was lost forever. And like you mentioned in the video, Andy gave Woody to Bonnie so he can pass along the "torch" to her. So the fact that Woody would leave his friends because of Bo Peep manipulating him into thinking he's a "misfit toy" is flooring to me. Also, there's no closure after they leave Woody behind. It feels so rushed and it feels like they did this just to focus on tugging on heart strings. If there ever is a prequal to the Toy Story movies, I seriously hope they empathize on Andy's father so people can take their rose tinted glasses off when it comes to their opinion on the fourth movie. Toy Story 4 was unnecessary and it's horribly written in terms of context of past movies.
Learning this, frankly, Andy should have kept Woody at the end of TS3. That would have been more bitter sweet but more realistic ending. He should have taken a moment to share with Bonnie the childhood joy of imagination and play like he does, but then explained to her that Woody was his dad's and established why even after all these years that toy in particular was so special to him. Bonnie could have even encouraged him to keep it, as a show of natural self-less-ness/sweetness that gives her a more rounded likeable character even though she's a small child. That would have challenged Woody's character, and the bonds between all the toys. But Woody accepting that choice would have added to the over arching theme in TS that the needs of a toy's kid are always higher then their own wants even after everything he's been through, something that connects back to the joy and pain of parenthood the toys often touch on as a background theme in the stories. Even young-adult/adult children still need their parents and emotional support, and Woody being Andy's dead father's toy would clearly make Woody a very sentimental toy to Andy. Under these circumstances it would make sense for him to hold onto Woody into adulthood and maybe even give him to his own children instead of a random neighbor. Maybe a short could have added to Woody's story later by making him an antique grandfather like figure to a new generation of toys owned by Andy's kids. Maybe I just think this because I have a toy that's been in the family for generations, but that final ending in TS3 always rubbed me the wrong way juuuuuust a little bit and now I feel like I understand why. Thank you for sharing this!
My favorite part of this movie was when Gabby got her voice box and that's the reason why a kid loves her. It's a great lesson for kids who are mute. If you can't talk, just talk and then people will like you. 🙃 Honestly, she shouldn't have gotten the voice box. Woodie talks to her and convinces her she doesn't need a voice box for a kid to like her. And then a deaf girl find Gabby and she accepts her for who she is. For that kid, it doesn't matter that she doesn't have a voice box.
@@MooseShower lost Carnival Girl was very responsive towards Gabby’s speech. Meaning that Gabby’s attempts to fix the implied disability are taught to young audiences as a fruitful effort.
What you proposed was way better than the shit Disney concocted. It would’ve been so heartwarming for Gabby to realize that she doesn’t need a voice box for children to like her *and* for her to find a kindred spirit in her new kid, who would be deaf or even mute.
And she is a perfectly intact doll anyway. Most kids would play with her despite the broken voice box. Probably only bratty kids (& bratty adults) would throw her away when finding out her voice box doesn't work. Edit: Obviously, she would need convincing from Woody like you pointed out.
If Bo Peep had maintained her genuinely nice personality, I wouldn’t have hated the ending that much, but yeah, why would Woody abandon his kid just to spend infinity and beyond with a porcelain prick?
The commentary is enlightening for why Bonnie now hates Woody. Of course it’s the director’s own anecdotal evidence being responsible for a massive character change. Good writers can write characters that aren’t them; bad writers can only write about what they personally know. I want to know what the original Lasseter script was like before the multiple rewrites.
i honestly think a lot of generalization was going on there too... and sexism. because well, all little girls are the same, so of course they'd all prefer to play with a girl doll, right?
I hate it so much when people say to write what you know. No no no no no! If you only write what you have personally experienced, your story and characters will be unrealistic, bland, and frustrating. Real writers understand that the world is much bigger than themselves.
@@darienodette Counterpoint, Don't you think it's far more accurate to say if you are to write what you know, *expand what you know* as well. Obviously writing what you know will not get you far if there's not alot of stuff you really know about. Hence why people try to connect to others, expand on the stories they read or even while travelling. To understand that the world is much bigger than themselves also falls into write what you know (or understand) technically speaking. Unless we consider knowing and understanding to be two entirely different stages.
My man not only popped off for 6 hours while hating Toy Story 4, but also threw a sucker punch DR3’s way to say just how stupid the brainwashing was. You got yourself a new subscriber.
Finally, someone who calls out Toy Story 4 for the disgrace it truly is to the master trilogy. Thank you, sir, great video.
I agree with this man’s points save for one: there will always, ALWAYS, be that ONE barbie that somehow survives the sands of time. All the others will fade to dust, but that ONE barbie will find its home in the deepest depths of your closet or crayon-covered drawer that was once the toy chest. Can totally see Andy’s sister just having kept that one random barbie while the other’s vanished. Same rule applied to Littlest Pet Shop’s, Polly Pocket, and even Hot Wheels cars.
Agreed, for me it was the 2000s Hermione and Harry Potter dolls. But I unfortunately had a falling out with my parents and left home without them, otherwise I'd still have it. I liked that Hermione had freckles and crimped hair.
I actually heard a theory--I say "theory" because I'm not sure if it's confirmed or not--that the reason why Buzz would always freeze around people is because he believed he was on a secret mission from Star Command. But what he said in this video also makes a lot of sense because I honestly never thought of it like that before.
What I hated most about toy story 4 was that they actually literally romanticized it The first 3 were FAR AWAY from Romance But Toy Story 4 was literally a love story between Woody and Bo Wtf were they thinking?
As a 😊💕 Woody x Bo Peep lover they really messed up my ship in this movie. I expected cutesy and sweet moments 💕 but all I got is Bo Peep being soo cold-hearted towards Woody that's not how Bo Peep in the Originals wouldn't have treated her Man soo terribly. I should feel happy that Woody chose Bo Peep at the end... but I can't help feel very uncomfortable he is with this particular "Bo Peep" who acts soo terribly towards him.
I’m sorry, i know nothing about toys or how they are made, especially from the 50’s. But if Woody gave HIS voice box to Annabelle, then wouldnt she say WOODY’S lines. Like when the girl pulls her string at the end of the movie, Annabellle would say “reach for the sky” or something. Please explain if I’m incorrect
This was such a balm to my soul. My mother sat me down and made me watch this movie despite repeated protests because of how much I loved the ending of 3 and after finishing it I bawled my eyes out, not just because of the horrific ending but because of the constant and thorough character assassination throughout. This covers everything I couldn’t articulate myself and it soothed a years-long ache.
28:07 Also to add on to slinky’s spring being shut on by the window. If it’s string enough to fully close on slinky, it should more than be strong enough to likely snap the coil in two sending slinky crashing onto the pavement. Edit: Also to add on to Woody’s character assignation. A deleted scene shows Bo Peep and Woody leaving to go to their own kid! Woody has no voice box, Bonnie’s parents tell her that it’s ok if she doesn’t want Woody anymore. But instead, she stills wants Woody, and finally ends the movie with woody happy making his kid happy!

The rant about the chain of monkeys at the beginning was some of the hardest I've ever laughed at any youtube video or anything online in general. Great video, man.
The thing is the plot can easily fall apart if people remember how kids are with their toys. Bonnie would've most likely started playing with Woody again. Kids usually have their favorites that last for a couple months or more and then they start playing with different toys.
And she did, she played with him at the trip, and Woody was only not getting played for 3 days, that's nothing compared to the baby toys at the closet that Bonnie legit no longer plays with
Yeah like fr. Like that's more or less what happens in the first movie too. Buzz became Andy's favorite for some time but eventually came back to Woody (and even then he never really stopped playing with him).

This video has legitimately become one of my favorites ever on the platform. I come back to it often despite having heard all 6 hours multiple times before. Seems so silly that a video about an animated childrens movie could bring me so much comfort. But it has and I thank you sir.
It would have been so much better if Bo's scene in the beginning was just her and Woody saying their farewells and she still acts like how she was in the other movies, THEN reveal her later and her actions and new environment explain her different appearance and personality, maybe even explaining how she has more articulation since she can break an arm off entirely and just tape it back on.
I know like show her realizing that she could be more of something the problem this movie have it's the character changes alongside their walking plot device call Forky that could have been interesting
Buzz being dumb in this movie reminds me of how Sega dumbed down Knuckles in the Sonic Boom series. They both are awesome and smart (yet gullible in Knuckles’ case) and are cool characters and were even rivals when they first met but became good friends later on, but for some reason, they decide, later on, to dumb down the characters to an insane degree and make them the comic relief character.
I want to give a bit of extra detail to this He was smart and confident but gullible and also had a short fuse The earlier 3D games respected this while Battle and 06' somewhat set the seeds for him being just dumb, same how Shadow game set the seeds for the 'edgy' Shadow CRUCUALLY THOUGH, With Colors, directorship was given to the hack frauds that are Pontac & Graff, and EVERY CHARACTER was dumbed down to a stereotype with no sense of hidden depths, nuance or competence Which is pretty alike how Cooley got his hands on TS4 and ruined everything It is only now with Frontiers (And director being Ian Flynn) that everyone has regained their attitudes and qualities
I want to throw out there that knuckels in the tv series is more specialized in the info he retains. At first I was like what did they do to my boy but despite seeming like the typical dumb muscled head trope there are times he offers the most logical or nuanced opinions and while it's played for laughs he does grow on you as the series goes on. I think he ends up being more himbo in the end then meat head jock.
Originally, I was gonna say "Who asked" as a joke. But I decided to watch the entire video to form an opinion of this video. As a huge Toy Story Fan, at first I thought Toy Story 4 was the best movie of the year. But taking a look at the movie the second time made me realized that the 4th movie got completely butchered pieces by pieces just from 1 director that claims they're a huge fans of the series. So thank you for this video, the director really need to be fired immediately.
So to everyone who wanted this supercut to be able to watch the whole series in one shot - with some technical issues fixed from the original release - I hope you enjoy :)
Looking back on this series, there are definitely things I would change.

The worst part of this film overall is the message Woody's Arc gives.

I feel like my Woody is the only one I know now who always puts me, my sister and Mummy first before himself.
THANK YOU 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Imo, the countless lucky breaks, cheats and impossibilities in this movie alone are just as valid as every catastrophic failure it placed on the others in the franchise.
Even if you could divorce this entry from canon, "subpar" is more than a little generous for the work put into its plot. There's barely continuity here, it's just plot soup.
It reminds me of something RadicalSoda said in his _Sonic Colors: Ultimate_ review:
“How many hairs do you need to find in your burger before you realize that the chef doesn’t give a shit?”
You’re absolutely right that this many nitpicks bring down the quality of a piece in the “Death by a Thousand Paper-Cuts” style, and it is absolutely indicative of the care taken during the creation of that piece when so many errors slip by.
@@justafan9399 This movie is a bunch of baloney!

Exactly.
I couldn't quite place it back when I first saw the movie but yeah, that's probably a big reason why the ending felt off and unsatisfying to me. You shouldn't _have_ to completely ditch your friends/family for any relationship 😬.

Sorry, I was just ranting a bit. It's clear we agree.
It's all good. This movie is a constant string of mind boggling decisions so it's definitely easy to get mad and caught up with the many, many, many potential issues with it.
Dude went in for 6 hours and we watched an absolute slaughterfest And i am HERE FOR IT
The head writer of most Disney movies, Joe Ranft, actually revealed Woody's origins to Mike Mozart, who is a TH-camr and a long time toy guru.
Woody was originally owned by Andy's deceased father, who won Woody in a giveaway by the company that made Woody's Roundup. This took place in the 50's when the polio virus was rampant. Andy's father had polio, and since he had it, his toys were going to be burned, but he managed to keep Woody, Slinky, and Potato Head away from burning by putting them in a box and putting them in the attic (correct me if I'm wrong.)
Years later, he survived polio and eventually married Andy's mom and had Andy.
I really wish Toy story 4 was a prequel to the first toy story, not this TRASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My favorite part of this movie was when Gabby got her voice box and that's the reason why a kid loves her. It's a great lesson for kids who are mute. If you can't talk, just talk and then people will like you. 🙃
Honestly, she shouldn't have gotten the voice box. Woodie talks to her and convinces her she doesn't need a voice box for a kid to like her. And then a deaf girl find Gabby and she accepts her for who she is. For that kid, it doesn't matter that she doesn't have a voice box.

As GamingMagic said himself, “WHO WROTE THIS?!”
The fact that Keanu Reeves' only child was stillborn and his character saying 'I had a kid once' is turned into a joke is actually horrifying.
I don't think that was in mind when creating the joke..
@@ewidontlikeyouWas anything really done in mind?
Oh no that’s awful :(
Oh- 😬
That makes that scene so much worse oh my god…poor Keanu ☹️
This was such a balm to my soul. My mother sat me down and made me watch this movie despite repeated protests because of how much I loved the ending of 3 and after finishing it I bawled my eyes out, not just because of the horrific ending but because of the constant and thorough character assassination throughout. This covers everything I couldn’t articulate myself and it soothed a years-long ache.
We should publicly shame your mother for forcing you to watch TS4
Sat your mum down and make her watch this as repentance for her sin on your childhood memories 🥺 ruin her childhood back 💪
This, it's so validating to know there are others out there who were deeply disturbed by this abomination of a movie.
No way this 4 year old can write that good.
I hate to say this, but that sounds like child abuse to me.
Bo doesn’t have a kid though which is probably why it was deleted
@@MooseShower It shows her finding one to make happy. Not a pre-establised one.

This review has better writing than the movie being reviewed.
So true
The length of this video feels like a MauLer video. GamingMagic13 earned his respect.
But the writing on the movie isn't as good as the writing for the first three film but it's just...okay at best
This movie review reminds me of AcousticHarmonia's 7-hour long essay in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. He even added his own story *rewrite* in the goddam review!
It's not hard to have better writing than that abomination of a movie
The rant about the chain of monkeys at the beginning was some of the hardest I've ever laughed at any youtube video or anything online in general. Great video, man.
And well dissected, may I add.

As funny as it was, he made very valid good points. It drives anyone bananas and since has Bo Peep have Wonder Woman strength.
The thing is the plot can easily fall apart if people remember how kids are with their toys. Bonnie would've most likely started playing with Woody again. Kids usually have their favorites that last for a couple months or more and then they start playing with different toys.
And if Bonnie didn’t care about Woody then why did she bring him along on the road trip and write her name on his boot?
And she did, she played with him at the trip, and Woody was only not getting played for 3 days, that's nothing compared to the baby toys at the closet that Bonnie legit no longer plays with
@@dustymcwari4468 Same with him not getting played with for YEARS when Andy was going off to college!
Yeah like fr. Like that's more or less what happens in the first movie too. Buzz became Andy's favorite for some time but eventually came back to Woody (and even then he never really stopped playing with him).
Yeah, imagine how Forky will feel after getting thrown in the trash like a week after he accepts he'a not trash.
1:48:39 Buzz's character arc speech. Beautiful speech that I don't see getting its deserved praise. You're welcome, everyone!
Starting this video, I just thought he was a hater. But….shit………..the longer it went on, the more I started agreeing with his points
I hated the movie to begin with, but I never realized how broken it was until this review
Oh boy…now we’re getting a 5th film😑
Crazy as I found this as the actual movie aired just earlier. I'm kinda with him on the points

I ADORE the passion behind your voice and line delivery, wish I had friends like you that unironically invest into the art of storytelling the way you do. My current friends are the "ain't that deep/who cares it doesn't matter" type of people so conversations rarely lead anywhere.
Those are the Worst conversations about something you like.
People ain't obligated to care about... stuff... That's the nicest way I could put it.
@@bungiecrimes7247 Never said anyone's obligated, you're putting a negative spin on it for no reason. When we're talking about a film or show and all you have to contribute to the conversation is "It's not that deep, end of convo" just don't engage in the conversation. It's not my fault you're not indulged in the subject, it's YOUR fault for joining a conversation about a subject you don't care about.
@@KOTSOSMC2002 Well said! I also hate those people who are like "It's just a kids cartoon brooo". Kids deserve better, we deserve better! Just because it's target audience is children doesn't excuse terrible writing.
@@bakedbaker9882 Preach!
I was just thinking that! Not just change her in the beginning.
I know like show her realizing that she could be more of something the problem this movie have it's the character changes alongside their walking plot device call Forky that could have been interesting
Exactly 💯. But no we have to make every female character an insufferable and heatless girl boss. From beginning to end.
And in most of the games.
I want to give a bit of extra detail to this
He was smart and confident but gullible and also had a short fuse
The earlier 3D games respected this while Battle and 06' somewhat set the seeds for him being just dumb, same how Shadow game set the seeds for the 'edgy' Shadow
CRUCUALLY THOUGH,
With Colors, directorship was given to the hack frauds that are Pontac & Graff, and EVERY CHARACTER was dumbed down to a stereotype with no sense of hidden depths, nuance or competence
Which is pretty alike how Cooley got his hands on TS4 and ruined everything
It is only now with Frontiers (And director being Ian Flynn) that everyone has regained their attitudes and qualities
Toy Story & Buzz Lightyear
Originally, I was gonna say "Who asked" as a joke. But I decided to watch the entire video to form an opinion of this video. As a huge Toy Story Fan, at first I thought Toy Story 4 was the best movie of the year. But taking a look at the movie the second time made me realized that the 4th movie got completely butchered pieces by pieces just from 1 director that claims they're a huge fans of the series. So thank you for this video, the director really need to be fired immediately.
He left Pixar anyway
You're still allowed to like the movie.
