Fantastic ! The cars are as good as new, you can almost feel the smell of new paint. But i like the boxes best. There is some kind of magic ....Thanks !
The thing about Matchbox is that you have to get a good deal on them, perhaps a third of what you think the value is. This is reasonable because they are slow to sell and only certain models are popular so when you do sell them it takes a lot of time and effort. For example you can pay higher prices for the cars but the trucks and busses don't sell so that is what you have top be careful about. The worst Matchbox for resale even in mint conditions are the Combine Harvester, Refer Truck, Bulldozers missing treads, and Dump Trucks. Popular models are Police and Fire Chiefs, Grand Prix, Race Cars, etc. Thanks for watching.
Unless you buy old stock from a closed store or a private collection, chances are the boxes will probably be in bad condition or not present at all. That is one fine collection of Matchbox oldies. Most boxes were in good or great condtion, considering their age. And the castings were in great condtion too (most of the time). So good that i'm afraid to see their prices in your site LoL. Anyway, thanks for the presentation, always fun to see these vintage Matchbox beauties.
I agree, #1 Mercedes Truck and #2 Trailer are a great pair. My starting point, both shown here as well as Superfasts as an adult collector. Didn't keep boxes as a kid. #32 XKE Jaguar is still my favorite.
Things of the past. I am trying to, but I can't recall the feelings I had when opening those boxes back in the days (late 60s). Most probably I simply unwrapped the car and threw the box without any second thought.
Is it hard purchasing a large collection of cars? What I mean is, do you actually have to open each box? I would think it would take a long time and requires a lot of patience from the seller and buyer.
Most times the boxed collections I buy are from local people and are from someone who passed away. Untouched original collections. Price has to be good. To buy from someone who bought more recently would be too expensive. I can asses the condition with just looking at a few boxes and models. I have been buying collections regularly since 1989. Mostly Redline Hot Wheels. Boxed Matchbox are very scarce especially the oldest ones. Collectors want them perfect boxes.
You should get rid of the collection cause the boxes have spots on them. Seriously though, do you display the boxes or the awesome castings that they have inside?
@toycarcollector Here's what. I've been closely following along with what Paul Restorer has revamped. He sometimes revamps the Dinky, Corgi, and Majorette toy cars. Not always the Matchbox toy cars. I haven't seen another presentation museum video that shows/features all of Paul Restorer's finished work.
Please take more care with your matchbox collections it really does make me cringe. Ps I’m only 11 and I collect boxed matchbox regular wheels and super fast made by lesney
I love to see the toys with new paint and no play wear make me feel like a kid again.
Remember the match box cars back in the 60s. 67 years old on the 21st of tthis month. And still love the Match box. Great video...Thanks.

I knew there had to be an ulterior reason for the train video. Great score right here.
Thats a super nice box of goodies !
Man those cars are awesome and in mint condition wicked time warp video cheers KC Tasmania Australia
Cool, like they arrived from a time machine but, in a way, it's sad these toys sat in boxes un-played with for all these years.
Hey Dave's back : ) And he had his ears lowered .... lol
What is your favourite 1/64 scale diecast model from any company? For me it might have to be a mint antifreeze hk Deora

Looking cool!"
I remember having a lot of those cars in the early 60’s and have no idea what happened to them.

I always wondered what was on the back of the green pickup. I have one missing the dogs and canopy.
Hello toy car collector, excelent collection.

To bad they make such a big deal about the box hard too keep them mint after fifty years.
WOW!! : ) First Comment. Nice hair cut Dave :D
I know you love your Hot Wheels but I think matchbox we're way more creative with their toy cars and trailers and tractors and trucks etc.

This video, unfortunately, doesn't show any of Paul Restorer's finished work! I'm not taken by surprise so easily.
I'm not sure what you are asking.
