    The biggest thing I want all manufacturers to do is to stop the over-noise reduction, followed to sharpening to hide it. GCam with custom libs have shown you can actually have more (and much more natural, true camera like) detail, without sacrifices. The "its a smartphone look" isn't needed.

    • @andreafaro8198
      @andreafaro8198 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

      Exactly! S23 Ultra with GCam (I use LMC or AGC) is a monster and beats every other phone out there.

    • @fwijffels
      @fwijffels 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Best case scenario would be if I can make my own sharpening/noise etc preset. Ofc you can shoot raw and then edit, but that's too much work for most everyday photos. A customisable preset for the initial edit would be my dream, pretty sure that will forever stay a dream though..
      But the companies do the anti-noise rape because silly reviewers cry when they see the tiniest amount of noise when zooming in 300% on a photo taken in the dark, handheld, with a tiny sensor and an f/22+ equivalent aperture.
      Anyways.. haha

    From a Galaxy S23 Ultra user I would like to admit that the smoothness, stability and colors in video recording are always what Apple wins. The 10x camera in the Galaxy should still be there and they should improve it greatly because rumors have spread that they will cancel it in the S24 Ultra. The Galaxy is great at zoom, they should scrap 3x and use a 200MP sensor to cut 3x and add a brand new camera for 5x..
    I hope that an update will come and solve the problems of night photography in very dark places, as the camera comes in strange colors such as red and green, especially in the sky, where you cannot share these images, and transferring more strains between cameras is a necessary requirement.

  • @Gespinzt
    @Gespinzt 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

    Thank you for the comparison and the hard work behind it.
    I noticed a few things:
    1. In my opinion, most photos from the S23U look much nicer and more natural.
    2. The 5x zoom of the iPhone 15 PM looks really nice compared to the S23U, especially in portrait mode the zoom shows its full power.
    3. The iPhone 15 PM has significantly improved its zoom, I especially like the 5x zoom, Apple has done a really good job there. On the other hand, I don't like the 25x zoom so much; the zoom on the S23U looks nicer.
    4. In my opinion, there are hardly any significant differences between the S23U and iPhone 15 PM when it comes to night mode, both are convincing.
    5. When it comes to stabilization, the iPhone 15 PM is slightly ahead in some situations, but the stabilization of both is really good.
    If I had to choose a smartphone based on this video (comparison between iPhone 15 PM and S23U), I would currently choose the S23U based on the results I saw in the video.
    When I still think about the release of the S23U and compare it with today, Samsung has improved a lot when it comes to photos and videos. The photos and videos were good when it was released, but if you compare it to today, the photos and videos back then were crap!
    This is my own opinion and taste!
    I'm not a fanboy, I like both Samsung and Apple, both have advantages and disadvantages, both know how to convince.

    Glad to see the iphone image processing preferes having a little noise over being over-sharpened which indeed is the enemy of the image clarity. With that said, i think they didn't improve the dynamic range that much specially on thoses sunset shots. Also there is a too much contrast in the dark areas making trees looks black, this was an issue in iphone 14 series and apparently they didn't fix it here.

    Awesome video as always, your channel is one of the best and I'm ALWAYS excited when I see you posted a new video! 👏👏👏
    One thing I think would be even better is if you would compare the same zoom level each time (2x vs 2x, 3x vs 3x, 5x vs 5x, 10x vs 10x and 25x vs 25x. The S23U even has 2x lossless zoom now after the latest update). This would give us a much better look at how they compare across the entire zoom range and also at how good the digital zoom algorithm of each phone is.
    Anyways, I was impressed by the dynamic range of the Galaxy, especially considering Apple said their HDR was better than ever... Also the 24MP on the iPhone looks soooo good!

    Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has 12MP, 50MP and 200MP modes, but for some reason you won't see the 50MP photos here. Instead, the comparison was done between S23 Ultra's lowest resolution (12MP) versus iPhone 15 Pro Max's higher resolution (24MP) instead of its 12MP, too. It's unclear why it was done like that, since both phones have 3 different options for the resolution of the main camera. Keep in mind that the 50MP mode on Samsung S23 Ultra is noticeably better than the 12MP one. The comparison would be totally different if it was done between 50MP from the Samsung S23 Ultra versus 24MP from the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Waiting for a proper comparison...

I’ve been contacting Apple for the past 7 months about this issue and I thought it will be fixed in the new release, but it seems like it still an issue. I even called Apple and opened a case and they admitted it - they said that they have a parent case related to this issue because they have received lots of complaints! It’s strange that’s some people get offended when you point out flaws with the iPhone as if they have 50% shares of the company! So many other options here to play around with. In terms of the processing, if you want a much more natural look then use Pro mode in the Camera. With Apple unfortunately you're stuck with however Apple want it, and then have to resort to third party apps if you want anything different.

      @@chrisak49you clearly don't understand photography and are completely mistaken. Adjusting the capture settings can drastically change the photograph, which post-processing in Lightroom couldn't do or wouldn't do as well. Also, there many 'casual' photographers who use Pro mode, even if just to reduce processing. And, depending on the context, there are many 'pro' photographers who prefer using phones over carrying their DSLR's around. Those photographers DO use the Pro mode for both photos as well as videos. As a side note I'm not sure what you mean that 'there's no time'. Photographers make time, even if it means waking up early or staying at a location for a while until they get the perfect shot. Using a phone instead of a DSLR doesn't change that.
