  • 2004 Big Dog Chopper with 107" S&S engine, vance and hines exhaust and cheap high flow air cleaner. After the owner installed the pipes and air cleaner the bike developed a cough through the intake on acceleration. After doing some research online I realized the pipes and air cleaner created a lean condition in the transition between pilot and main jet . This transition is fueled by the air bleed inside the float bowl. I didn't want to wait to order jets so I drilled them out. Thanks for watching.

Good morning 🌅, Great Looking 👀 Bike, a shame about the pipes, I had a 95” Deuce, back in the 2000s , HSR 45, cams , and 2-1 Boom Can , I have purchased a another softail deuce , as I had to sell my 2000 as I had been scammed by my ex female part,

Good morning. Thanks for watching. Yes I have done the work in the dyno and the big radius pipes are just for looks and kill horsepower. Take care. Ride free.

As those bikes age out and sell cheap, the 107s make great donor motors for other bikes. Go through them, re cam for the intended use and they are a smooth motor with plenty of grunt.
I’ve put them in FXRs to baggers and they are the best part of that era of bikes.
If you find someone parting out or a wreck, grab those old 107s, you won’t be sorry.
Most are low mile, although some have been flogged pretty hard, still, a quick rebuild most of the time and updated cam and you’ll love it.

Im having the opposite problem. Ive got a G carb on a 106 stroker twin cam drag bike. Velocity stack and 2" drag pipes. It runs like a bat out of hell but the plugs come out black. Ive got a .0290 pilot and a .070 main. Ive got the accel pump turned out only enough so it doesnt bog. I get black smoke when i whack the throttle no matter what i do. Hoping to get an afr gauge on it and take it to the dyno. Been 6.90 in the 1/8th mile though.

Sounds fun. The accelerator pump adjustment is a little different. I’m pretty sure on the s&s that you screw it all the way out to turn it off. I like to block the squirter with a rag and adjust it and look at the linkage so you’re not flooding it. Your jet size sounds reasonable. Let me know what you find.
      Thanks for watching.

I checked them and they looked brand new. I knew it was fuel/air related because he created such a lean condition with the air cleaner and pipes.

Can't your drill/ream the jet with a quality decimal oversize reamer???
