My 2009 ford f250 superduty has a 5.4 triton and it has no crank and u can here the relays and fuel pump kick on but won’t crank and we put a new starter and still don’t do anything but shows the anti theft light but when we get someone to do a way to get it out of anti theft it still don’t work we used a spare key and still no crank
Good video clear and to the point I want to add my two cents in my experience. As far as this video goes, it is a good starting point for informational purposes of the starting circuit, but diagnosing an intermittent no start will require a little more info and a voltage drop test with the dvom from the negative terminal of the furthest battery to the casing of the starter is a great way to determine if a bad connection is present somewhere. If the voltage drop is more than 0.5 volts, the first place I would check is the terminal at the starter itself. Clean it all. Put some Emery cloth or sandpaper and put it back on. It's important to either disconnect both batteries or be careful not to let this terminal touch any metal because it is connected straight to the positive circuit hot all the time
Awesome video man learned a lot I've had my starter bench test it it came back good I tried everything you just did and all my starter does is Click when I try to turn it over any more ideas

So I got it to crank over by connecting the contacts with pliers as shown. Swapping the square relays did nothing and the fuse in the cab is fine. So could it be i have two bad relays or does that mean my ignition switch(?)is bad?Thanks
Good info, any idea what to look for if my signal wire has 12 volts but no amps when I check it with battery load tester. Starter just spins without engaging teeth. 2nd new starter.
Okay, so I have the exact issue. Checked the 20amp fuse on pass side and its good, I have no ground at the relay under the hood where you said to check. So would it be a faulty ignition switch?
@@patmeyer3818 @Rich T Any luck? My issue has been intermittent. When the truck gets hot (been towing a camper) it will drive all day until I turn it off. Once it's off, it won't start (wont even turn over). If it sits a while, it'll fire right up.

Dealing with this now truck was starting fine yesterday it was making a click from the starter and today nothing I swapped relays around that did nothing and touching those 2 slots like you mentioned did nothing aswell trucks an 09 f250 with the 6.4

Nd if u have a crank no start sometimes the fuel pump fire supression switch goes off and needs to be reset on the passenger side dash where you ooen the door! Real sneaky little thing
Hi I did all the steps you showed us. My truck won’t start on park or neutral. I removed the relay and put a jumper on the pins of the starter relay and it started with someone inside turning the key. I installed a new relay and it still doesn’t start. Any advice?

Hi I have a question 2007 Honda Civic. All the relays works and fuses are good. I am moth getting power to the both fan’s radiator and ac fans connectors . I Jump both fans and they work.

I've messed with the terminals tried cleaning them up a bit. I'll try the fuse inside...all I know is this has me baffled...

@lehewtech I need to get my boss’s 2010 F 250 6.4 L diesel motor running again. This thing has 151 k miles. EGRs deleted. It has been sitting for about 8 months. It has new batteries, all the PMs are complete. Bled the air from the fuel system. No water detected in fuel. LPFP (fuel pressure) is OK, starter motor and circuit are OK. It will cycle glow plugs and LPFP normal, YET only cranks for 1-3 seconds at a time. It will do this short crank cycle continuously w/o starting. Any ideas? Solution? @@GoodGuyJoe22 yours sounds like bad battery cables. Had same issue on my 96. I had corrosion at the main harness for the control module.
It is the cooling fan.
