You NEVER fail to amaze, surprise, inspire, bless, and yes, even sometimes entertain us with your talent and brilliance. You bring all these gifts to each one of us, always instilling something to teach us to stretch and know ‘we can do it too!’ YOU are the epitome of “Share Handmade Kindness” ❣️ Thank you♥️
P.S. I look at some of my older outdated scrapbooking papers for color combos. The patterns/pictures may be a bit outdated, but the color combinations can still be striking and full of inspiration.

Great ideas for color. Putting colors together is always my biggest problem. The "Thinking of You" card is my favorite, the black and the gems really make it pop!

Excellent video. Color has always been my "thing'. I like to have beads, crystals, and silk flowers out because I spot color combos I wouldn't have thought of just out of my head. The bad part of watching your videos is I want to buy everything you feature! Thanks for all you do.

Fantastic ideas Jennifer. So enjoy your videos. Always learn so much from you. I used to do stitched cards, using patterns and pricking out all the holes by hand!! These dies by Spellbinders will save so much time. 👏👏👏💕🇿🇦

I love all of your videos but especially the ones where you feature products I already own! Yay!! Those stitched dies are so cool and I love to see how you divide them into many different combos and sizes! Your color combos are fantastic and I really appreciate you giving source options! (I personally do not have any problem using “funky” or different color choices!) I especially love the black cardstock with bright colors! Stunning! I can’t wait to try out so many different combos with my birdhouse dies...those are the best sets I’ve seen in a while! (Thank you to Vicky!) TYFS! ❤️🦋💜

Sitting on my counter is a book I bought 15 years ago, called Color Made Easy. It was made for papercrafters to refer to different color palettes when stumped. The full color pages show scrapbook layouts using the palettes of 5 colors, and in the back are tear out strips with the color palettes so they can hang on a binder ring. You have inspired me to cut them out and use them!

I use Pinterest for color combos too. There are some people, like Kristina Werner, who use different ink lines to color blend. I just pin them in a category by themselves. I have seen distress inks and Stampin up inks used this way, but basically they are just colors. However, if you want to see how certain ink colors blend together, it is very helpful. Had not thought about using print fabrics, another thing I love-thanks!

  • @minikraut

Hi all, I totally agree, it's so easy to always use colors within my comfort zone. That's why one gets stuck with papers from a set, I guess ... It starts with not favoring a color and ends in not using it in any combination. Or always using a favorite.
It's like cooking, really - you can only extend the range of tastes you produce when you go with a new recipe and for once don't add rosemary, just to try it as it was meant to be.
To be honest, I would not pay between $29 and $57 on a selection of palettes, but I see what's great about them for a professional artist. I guess the unique feature is it giving color numbers for a range of brands/types of coloring media.
For the common crafter, I think Pinterest or plainly any pic search engine does fine with a request such as "color palette berries" or "color palette summer". The trap is that you may choose the ones that again include most of your favorite colors.
I therefore strongly second both your approach of looking at "stuff" (such as fashion) which attracts your attention, plus the approach Tiffany McGillie mentioned below.
When I'm at odds with a color (usually something orange or brown) I do a dedicated search and I usually find a quirky combo to help me use the papers I'm not totally in love with.
I also find searching for holiday palettes very inspiring to do things differently.
Thanks once more for a wonderfully inspiring video!

For me, I like several things. The color wheel, fabric, graphic art that I think looks pleasing. A box of cereal, has been artistically put together by graphic artists to get the best look. So as I said advertisements, colors on a piece of fabric, as a quilter I’ve learned you should combine different visual texture as well. (IE polka dots with florals and another graphic, all in different sizes.

Love these! I often make cards based on the recipient's favorite color. For instance, my sister-in-law likes pink, so her card last month was various shades of pink with a few other colors mixed in. My great niece's favorite color is purple, but her Ferris Wheel card last month was rainbow colored with purple words. I also sometimes choose a theme for the card, so that often drives the color scheme. My Father's Day card for my Dad is going to be a whimsical family tree, so his card will be mostly greens and browns.

@@jennifermcguireink So true. I don't really like pink, so making a pink card pushes me to the edge.

Your videos are always so helpful. Mine are just a hodge podge of all the things I do as hobbies, I’m disabled so it’s not a career for me but I love to share what I make. Nowhere near as professional as you though! I love all your work and I’m always inspired x
