What a wonderful day I've had. I turned 70 today,, got some beautiful flowers, homemade lemon meringue pie and this wonderful stitching video from you, I can say BEST DAY EVER!!!
@@jennifermcguireink Thank you for making me feel special, I guess that's where kindness and caring that you are all about comes in. I really appreciate everything you teach us with your creativity. P.S. I'd still like to see your desk when you are done creating!!!

I am so hooked on paper stitching! They are about the only cards I have been making lately. I find it so relaxing. I loved this video! Jennifer, you are so amazingly creative. I can always learn something new from your videos. Thank you for sharing your talent!!!
Always enjoy your long videos. I used to do cross stitch when I was growing up and learned a lot of cool stitches. Then we used to embroider on our jeans & even our cheap white sneakers, that was so much fun. Might have to give this one a try.
I also like to stitch on cards, but have never used dies as I have not seen any here in the UK, it would be a timesaver. Another way of starting when you use an even number of threads is the loop method, thread ends through the needle and pass it through the card from the back. Do not pull the thread all the way. Make a stitch and pass the needle through the loop of thread on the back and pull to tighten. I have also used double sided tape to hold the starting/finishing ends in place as well. Loved the video.
I have dipped my toes into the stitching world!!! It’s slow going but I do find it so relaxing! I am so loving these cards, and I will use this for reference 🥰
Thank you for all of your work that goes into your videos. They are all full of tips and honoust information. This video is another great example of that and i loved it. I like both stitching and card making so this is brilliant!
Wow! Such special cards and ornaments! Just beautiful. I always appreciate how you encourage using our supplies in different ways. When you showed the pink card with the stitched tree die, I thought the die could easily be used as a cake if the trunk was cut off. It could then be used for wedding or birthday card then and stretched even further. I'm also going to look through my dies and find ones with holes where I could stitch in. I'm assuming it would still work. If thicker holes, I could even use ribbon! Ooooh...now I'm itchin' for some stitchin'! All your time and effort is appreciated, Jennifer. Thank you and God bless.
Such wonderful examples and techniques. This is definitely going to be saved. I'm so glad Spellbinders continues to make stitching dies. Will head over there now. Again thank you!!!

I know these videos take a long time to create so....thank you so much for always take so much of your precious time to show us your wonderful techniques! And as always, your cards are so beautiful. It really gives me a lot inspiration to create more cards! I loved your daughter's stitched elements as well. She has that creative touch...just like her mom. Thank you again for all of your hard work and for putting such detail in all of your videos.
I thank you so much! I am so crazy about stitching on cards... thanks to you. You answered some questions I've had plus given so much inspiration! Jennifer, you are such a delight. I just love you! On some of my stitching dies, I couldn't find places big enough to tape my floss... so I've been sticking a micro glue for wherever I want to put my Floss and I just mush it right into the glue dot.
Wow, how great these are. Brought back memories. I use to do stitching on paper, but by machine also. Now can do this on paper that I did on felt ornaments years ago.both this I love to do in one thing. Forgot about embroidery I'm sorry to say. I have alot of threads too. Thank you Jennifer ❣️ You went to a lot of work to share your love and talents with us today. It has been a long time since I did any embroidery. I’m excited to combine these two arts and see what I come up with. I definitely have several ideas waiting to come alive. Thank you for the jump start!
Those are beautiful paper stitching cards! I haven’t ever done those. I have done lots of counted cross stitch on fabric. The card stitching looks like lots of fun. 👍🤗
Here’s a stitch starting tip....... When using an even number of threads, thread the tails thru the eye (e.g. for a 2 thread stitch, put both tails thru the eye) to create a loop on the other end. Come up from the back, go back down to create your first stitch and instead of having a knot on the back.... just feed the needle thru the loop and tighten! You don’t have to worry about a knot or tail at the start....just at the end.
Exactly what I was going to suggest! I always use this method when cross stitching. Everything is secure and neat. And at the end, just run the remaining floss under some stitches on the back.
oh my goodness, just came across this and was captivated. These cards are absolutely stunning. I did simple cross stitch projects over 30 plus years ago with my mom. This captured my heart thinking about that. I don't know when, but I'm definitely going to look into at least trying a very simple one in the New Year. Thank you for the inspiration.
Great video…I use tapestry needles when doing stitching or cross-stitching as they have a rounded or blunt end which prevents me from poking and bleeding onto my stitching.
Wow love how stitching your cards give a beautiful card! I especially love the trees cards & how adding back to back you can make ornaments or tags! I also love the slimline snowflake card in blue & silver & snowflake ornament! Thanks for sharing what tread size to use & stitches! Have a great day & stay safe!😊
Love this video, Jennifer. I am a needle pointer and my Mom is a cross stitcher. So I have a lot of Dmc Floss. These types of cards would be fabulous to make!
Thanks so much for the tips! I got started months ago with stitching because of you and I love it!! I really needed the how to decrease the bulk in the back! So much fun! Thanks again!
Hi Jennifer, long time embroiders double the thread, threading the loop end through the eye. pull it as the longer end with the double loose ends about 1/3 as long as the loop side. Then on your first sitich come up then right back down and through, put your needle through the loop and it is locked without a knot. Very tidy, very smooth. Cheers!
These are beautiful Jennifer! I love the look of the stitching on cards. I just might have to try this myself; looks a lot easier than the counted cross stitch designs I did when I was a young Mom. I like how the simple patterns would allow you to stitch while watching a movie or as a passenger in the car. I agree that the repetitive movement is very relaxing! Thanks for the inspiration!

I recently bought a couple simple cross stitching dies and have made a bunch while listening to podcasts or hanging out with my family. Thank you so much for this video! I have some stitching dies but just haven't had the courage to play with them. Your video is both inspirational and informative and is giving me the confidence to take a stab at stitching. Thank you!
Wow! I love these cards, they are fab! If I may...I would just add that it's a good idea to occasionally 'drop' your needle and let the threads unwind. They get pretty twisted if you are doing a long section, and the gold thread also gets twisted easily. Also if you don't mind having the 'tail' at the top you can make your first stitch without leaving a tail behind. Love love love these cards!
I love how you wrapped the floss tag with the number right on the bobbin. I use the holes in the bobbins to put them in a ring when I have a cross stitch project, so it might not work for me, but I think how you did that was great. Also, look up the “loop method” for starting even number threads that aren’t over dyed, such as DMC floss. It’s life changing 😉

@@jennifermcguireink You're so talented, but more importantly I found this really calms my anxiety...I'm like you! I would be very happy to stay in the house 🏠 most days & either stitch or cut. Thanks for your videos, they're so valuable ❤
As always, Jennifer, beautiful cards!!! I, too, love stitching on cardstock, but will greatly enjoy using the 110lb. stock that I now have vs. the lighter-weight stock I've used in the past. Yes, it did indeed flop around...so much so that a couple of months after I finished stitching my 100 Christmas cards, I developed "trigger finger" in my left thumb. (I'm right-handed so I held the stock with my left hand...and you'd get stitching, not realizing just how tightly you were holding the piece of stock. OY! My thumb locked up but good!!! ) A few weeks of physio and I was back to normal. (Well, normal-ish. I AM a bit weird.) :-) Also, I enjoy doing the ornament thing. However, I usually incorporate my design so that the CARD becomes the ornament and recipients can hang the entire thing on the tree. (We all have our own unique style.) In the past, I have made stitched ornament cards that were a decorated wreath (I love doing circles because you can vary the width of the fill so easily), an 8-pointed Christmas star (where I stitched the inner diamond components with 2 different patterns -- I find triangles so much fun to use -- very much like string-art patterns), and I have made simple snowflakes where I recycled old commercial Christmas cards and then stitched between the sections and around the edge to make it look like a fancy ornament. (This is the one that locked up my thumb!!! That was Christmas 2012. Perhaps I'm ready to stitch some more!?) And finally...my thread of choice has always been crochet cotton. I usually pick it up at Michael's when it's on sale, or sometimes at Walmart. I just do the one strand. The only thing I notice is that it eventually twists and wants to curl up and catch going through the punched holes, so I just hold the card, make sure the needle won't slip off, and then I let the thread hang and untwist itself. Then, I'm ready to go again. And, I have found, for me, that a slightly shorter piece of thread works better. Sure, I have to rethread more often, but I have less that's getting twisted. As with anything, it's just about what makes each of us comfortable. I always enjoy your presentations. Fabulous techniques. Intros to companies I don't know. Wonderful inspiration. And if nothing else, a chance to see some beautiful cards. THAT is well worth watching. And the execution? FLAWLESS!!! :-) (Sorry this is so long. I just enjoy your work so much. There is so much packed into your videos...and I so love learning new things!!!) I would say "God bless you," but clearly, He has!!! (And me, too, for allowing me to see your presentations.) :-)
Sigh... Where to begin? These cards are all so gorgeous. I really love stitching on cards, however I just don't have the patience and pinch myself everytime😂 I love the teal "making spirits bright" card and I am in love with the gnome one. Seeing you using these stitching dies, I do love to get me the diamond border one. It is so versatile and can be used all year round.

FLAWLESS!!! :-)
(Sorry this is so long. I just enjoy your work so much. There is so much packed into your videos...and I so love learning new things!!!) I would say "God bless you," but clearly, He has!!! (And me, too, for allowing me to see your presentations.) :-)
Love them. I do cross stitching and adding it to cards is awesome! 😊
Sigh... Where to begin? These cards are all so gorgeous. I really love stitching on cards, however I just don't have the patience and pinch myself everytime😂
I love the teal "making spirits bright" card and I am in love with the gnome one.
Seeing you using these stitching dies, I do love to get me the diamond border one. It is so versatile and can be used all year round.
I love these cards so much! I’m hoping I can get some of these stitching dies in the UK 💜
So inspiring.. I would love to try this technique

These cards are very beautiful but a lot of work for members of my family who will just throw them away. But thank you for showing me anyway. It is beautiful work.
Thank you for saying the weight you were using when you said heavy weight!
