    It is so interesting to see how far you have come! Comparing this pants tutorial to the one you did about a year ago you can definitely see the progress (even though that one already was quite nicely done)! I personally don't like pleated pants that much but I might just follow this tutorial if I ever wanted to sew pants with side-adjusters. I have watched your chanel for a long time now and I think you are doing an amazing job filming and making informative tutorials that are easy to follow! Great work. However some things I thought about regarding your trousers are the creases. The crease should land in the front crease, I.e the middle of the leg. But that is not true for the back, then the crease goes from the middle of the back leg-opening at a curved or slanted line up towards the rare. I just wanted to mention it as I think your back crease is ironed to much toward your sideseam. (If you look at the last clip you see that the trousers form a natural crease more towards the backseam.) Just a thought of mine, I think your work is really good none the less, keep up the good videos 😄

    • @CorneliusQuiring
      @CorneliusQuiring  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You bring up a good point. I am a bit conflicted about how to best crease pants. If I crease them so that they're perfectly centred lying flat, then when I wear them I find that the crease curves inwards as it goes up towards my butt. Ultimately, I prefer the crease to look visually straight up when I wear them so hence it not being perfectly centred. It's just a preference.
      Keep observation and for noticing the little details.
      Thanks for watching.

    Hi! I must say your tutorials on making pants is by far the easiest to follow (especially since I tend to easily get confused with multiple instructions all at once). I do have a kind of a newbie question though, what type of dabric did you use and what fabrics are novice friendly when making such pants?

    • @CorneliusQuiring
      @CorneliusQuiring  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I would start with a basic cotton twill fabric. The kind of stuff chinos are made out of.

      Oh! I have a question regarding the pleats. I was planning on adding pleats that goes all the way down like a pair of hakama pants. Should I draw and measure the pleats parallel or with a slight hint of curve that corresponds with the curvature of the waist? Thank you again for the great tutorial! 😊

    Hi Cornelius, GREAT tutorial. I'm drafting womens widelegged pleated pants, with a waistband. I think this means that instead of adding the pleat depth to the width of the front panels and then tapering to a place on the side of the leg (approximately hip, I guess); I would add that pleat depth along the entire side seam? Many thanks for clarifying, I have some cerise wool suiting fabric and don't want to take chances! (nor make 5 toiles!)

    • @CorneliusQuiring
      @CorneliusQuiring  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suggest making at least one sample before the final fabric, especially if you've got yourself such a lovely wool.
      As for what you describe, yes that's what you're going to want to do. However, depending on how wide-legged you want them to be, you might want to add more than just the pleat amount. I would suggest spreading that amount between both sides, not just the side seam.
      I hope that helps and your pants turn out as you desire!

  • @sfco1299

    Hi Cornelius, at 25:20 you mention that you sew a double stitch for the 'butt' seam of the trousers. Is that a machine setting, a serger feature? Or is it as simple as I imagine it, sewing over the top of your last stitch?
    Love your videos, thank you.

    • @CorneliusQuiring
      @CorneliusQuiring  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly as you imagine, yes, I just go back over the first stitch with a second one. Nothing fancy happening here :)

    • @CorneliusQuiring
      @CorneliusQuiring  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, that can happen sometimes I would suggest pinning the layers together so they're in the right place when you sew. Or even put in notches so you can line it up. Congratulations finishing a pair.

    • @CorneliusQuiring

    • @CorneliusQuiring
      @CorneliusQuiring  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I need to know how to adapt the pattern for a wheelchair person. Male. Should the crotch be lengthened in the back because the stride is longer or shorter in the front. While he sits the front of the pant leg is taut

    • @CorneliusQuiring
      @CorneliusQuiring  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What I would suggest is trying to add a bit more easing to the back panel. It essentially adds a triangle bit of fabric to the back for a bit more "room." I discuss it in the video here: th-cam.com/video/59btFjK3rx0/w-d-xo.html
      I hope that helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

    • @CorneliusQuiring

      If it's also too baggy in the back as well, that because there's too much added in the triangle rise stage. If its not, then I suggest simply redrawing the top line to fit.
