This is great! As someone who has mixed paper and film developers and worked in pharmaceuticals research, too, I recommend you use a funnel rather than try to pour down the stirring rod. Also, Metol and Hydroquinone are a little toxic and/or can sensitize people to chemicals, too. I'd recommend gloves and safety glasses when working with these and not breathing the powder dusts. Good job labelling the bottle when you were done.
Home-brewed, bootleg developer? Too cool! This is so Golly Gosh Darn useful! I still haven't tried out Prof. Nick's mercury-free daguerreotype process. As soon as I'm no longer confined because of my crutches (long story) and am back in my studio, I'll try this stuff out.
About the Hydroquinone: how much of it do I need to drink to protect myself from COVID-19 and how well does it mix with Barr Hill Gin? I'm asking for, um, my cat 🐱.

I have mixed this before but the Formula I have has 67.5 Grams Sodium Carbonate ! I bet I get a 'Better Black' with 80 Grams!

I am a bit confused about the sodium carbonate. The formula of this substance is Na2CO3 isn't it?

If Caffenol works as a film developer, and mint or green tea can be used rather than coffee, shouldn't it be possible to formulate a mint/green tea, ascorbic acid and borax or sodium carbonate print developer?
You were referring to that something has changed with the stock developers. I usually use Xtol from Kodak. Could you elaborate?
I thought the same thing. If I am going to go through that much bother, I need to know what problem I am trying to fix. This is like "How to make Coca Cola at home in 42 easy steps..."
Lets just say a popular paper developer from a certain photo company looks like root beer when its mixed and it never looked like that before due to a manufacturing change.. This made me apprehensive to use it. So, I just wanted to show how simple it is to mix you own developer just incase you shared my apprehension. This recipe is very close to developer in question.
