@@jamesvan2201 He's trolling. Note he believes he is sitting in heaven and still on earth. He holds a heresy taught today among teachers such as Joseph Prince.
I’m with you. What a horrific thought. I made it in and He is still disappointed. I feel sick just thinking about it. Because I know me and it’s going to be something I didn’t do right. Always. This is so stressful. It’s better than hell though so it’s still a win.
Since this has resurfaced due to replies, I would like to say my reflections on this after around a year. Firstly no, I do not think of myself as currently in heaven while on earth, I thought it was pretty clear I meant after I die. I don’t really know where that idea came from. More importantly, I think that the idea I initially suggested was wrong, we all miss opportunities in this life, and we will all have regrets, but in the kingdom of heaven, grace will abound in the things we miss. We may have regrets, but God’s glory will be what has our attention.
@@BibleLine “James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.” James 1:1 James was writing to the twelve tribes of Israel, those were his brethren. James wrote this before the Pauline gospel. It was not written to the body of Christ. Aside from that, the works that are being talked about are for the benefit of others. By our works we can spread the gospel. Not how we are saved.
Yes! We are already saved by belief and faith in christ! So we dont work to prove to others or anyone that we are saved, especially ourselves! But we work to help others recieve the same gift of gods grace that we were given.
This may be the best breakdown of James 2 I have seen and I already knew everything you were saying but you made it even more clear. I agree James is talking about eternal rewards, not eternal life. It’s much clearer than people realize. Unfortunately many people will say James and Paul disagree and contradict one another. Not only is that not true in this specific context, but I think a lot of people see that and really start to question the validity of the Bible. How could they contradict each other and both books be canonized, etc. I think it will hurt a lot of people’s faith and make them question untrue things. Please more videos on this 🙌🙌🙌
@@montyeason3973 First, faith per se doesn't save you from sin and hell. God saves you from sin and hell when we trust in Jesus. Faith is the mechanism through which God saves us. Second, the difficulty depends on the person. For the unbeliever, faith is clearly harder, and they don't have any opportunity of reward until they are saved. For the believer (one who is saved), obviously the loss of reward is harder.
@@jedimasterham2 You're minicing words. Faith is trusting in JEsus. You cannot be saved without it. Faith is not something else! Without faith it is impossible to please God. It doesn't mean we earn anything, but we have to believe that God rewards those that diligently seek him. THat's what faith is. James asks can that man's faith save him? If any among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but decieveth his ownheart, this man's religion is in vain. Pure religion, and undefiled before God and the Father s this, TO visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. Be doers of the word , and not hearers only, deceiving your ownselves. A vain religion is not a saving religion. God saves us by grace through faith to be doers of the word, not hearers only. That;s the argument in Chapter 2. Faith without deeds is dead. Dead don't save. I know it messes up the once saved always saved teaching. It was either Calvin or Luther who didn't even consider James as inspired becasue of this. Read Matthew 25 and the sheep and the goats in light of James and you'lll understand. And no our good deeds don't save us, but without them the faith we were saved by, will be to no avail. Our deeds are the fruit of our relationship with God. Our words, not so much, be ye warmed and filled, but hath not pity. How can the love of God be in that man? Not will he just lose some rewards.
James doesn't destroy the thruth (what you call free grace theology). Paul & James are speaking of two different types of justification: -Paul, justification before God. -James, justification before man. Eternal justification (i.e. salvation) is obtained always by grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ.
Nicely done. While loss of reward is certainly a by product of not being profitable in your walk I also believe the question about can that faith save your soul is also referring back to James 1:21 which states that receiving the word in humility and having it implanted can save your soul- which really means fulfilling the very purpose of your salvation which is to walk in good works (saved for good works) and being a doer of the word is the context. When you are a doer of the word, you are a profitable, and your life will find meaning and purpose. It has nothing to do with loss of salvation or proving your saved.
There are people who teach that rewards are automatically apart of Salvation. Those teachers speak so well but are confusing. They twist certain verses and neglect others. I have recently unsubscribed from them. Thank you for this message.
Yes, it took me a long time to recognise the subtle differences between hyper-grace teaching and free grace. It's crucial to understand rewards and also the two natures. Thanks for the solid teaching!
@slowdriver1393 Usually, the same people who preach the crossless gospel are also hyper grace and don't think believers need to confess sins unto familiar forgiveness. Wrong on one point often means wrong on others, just like Calvinism.
So, I feel the same way. But how about this. Don’t give up. I am at least going to try and do what I can. Just do something leave a clear gospel tract in a break room. Just do something. Anything is better than nothing. I refuse to be a total loser over here and in heaven. Come on! Please just don’t stop trying. You may feel unworthy. But I feel unworthy and keep working while I feel it.
@ You are right, sister. This is why we need Christ, because we are all sick and in need of a physician. The entire point for Jesus, is because we are inherently wicked. But we can and must strive to do our best to follow him, and no longer live in sin. Self sacrifice, the hardest thing to do. If we keep our eyes on Christ, and God, then surely our feet will follow.
Salvation is gift. Service is rewards.. Great pastor!! ❤ I have one question Should I wait for God's calling to service Jesus or live for Jesus? Pastor
Thank you! You should pray if you’re unsure of which direction to take, but you should always serve the Lord. Do the basic truths such as reading, studying, praying, witnessing and ministering to others. God will lead and provide! - Trent
The fact that James 2 says Abraham is justified by works, while Ro 4:2 says that Abraham was justified by works but NOT before God tells you everything. Then Lk 16:15 says we can be justified unto men. Ti 3:8 gives the reason why our faith should be combined with works. To benefit MEN.
I think the most dangerous things to do is to not rightly divide The Word of Truth and not stay in context of Scripture because if it is preached out of context to someone they will suffer with confusion, despair and mental torment or confuse others like a chain pattern going to the next person and to the next person like an infectious disease. One that has been hurting so many believers is taking this part of Scripture in Matthew out of context when Jesus Christ was speaking to the pharisees Matthew 12:32 King James Version 32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. This passage is always taken out of context and misused and often causes fear to others and mental torment because they believe that this sin can be done by a believer which a believer cannot commit this sin because in a nutshell whoever commits this sin is calling GOD a liar which GOD CANNOT LIE EVER. When they was given The Gospel of Jesus Christ they called it false or a lie and they rejected their ONLY means to Salvation which is believing Solely on Jesus Christ for Salvation. So if you do that you are not just denying Jesus Christ Sacrifice for your sins but you are denying The Powerful Work of The Holy Spirit to come and indwell in you til our Jesus Christ comes back. If one is not born again they will not inherit The Kingdom of GOD. I see so many lordship salvationist calvinistic teachers preach a heresy like suicide and other sins are unforgiveable sin they are making final judgements for people condemning them to hell without proper context of Scripture acting as they are speaking for GOD when in fact they're either in error with understanding Scripture or more seriously they are telling others and lying on GOD like the serpent did eve he try to twist what GOD told adam and eve. The pharisees were so prideful arrogant and malicious of their own position they knew who Jesus Christ was and what He was doing for the people and they bitter and jealous and hated Jesus and what He was doing but Jesus warned those pharisees that they almost committing that sin that won't be ever forgiven which basically not Believe in Him . They went so low and diabolical to accuse our Precious Lord Jesus Christ of having a demon or working out of that power but still out of Love Jesus still warn them yes Jesus could have condemn them right their but we must remember Saul/ Paul who was a very knowledgeable pharisee who believe he was zealous and " on fire" for GOD but out of ignorance and a dimmed senses and hatred he had for Christians he was murdering Christians which was an antichrist thing to do he was against Christ and those follow our Lord so much that had hate in his heart to murder them. But Thank The Lord Jesus Christ that Jesus came upon Saul / Paul and blinded him in demascus throwing him of his horse while he was on his way to terrorize more Christians Jesus intervene by blinding him and asking why was paul against Him basically why he was against Christians but Paul was given an option basically He could have said no and kept doing what he was but out of his own ignorance and misdirected zeal "for GOD" he realized of what Jesus was doing and revealing to him . Going from Saul to Paul he later became a disciple of Jesus Christ and did great things for The Lord. Believing in Jesus til the end . We must understand that GOD loves us all He sent His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ to die for all our sin " great and small" past present future sins are covered in The Powerful Innocent Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ. Once you place your Faith in Jesus Christ for Salvation you are Saved and Sealed with The Holy Spirit until the Day of Redemption. Remember Scripture says in Romans 8 33 -39 that Nothing can separate us from The Love of GOD " That means nothing we can do or anyone else can do to separate us from The Love of GOD. So if Paul was given Salvation and he was literally murdering those who believed in Jesus then we know right there what is forgiven all sins are forgiven because Jesus Christ our Lord paid it All with His Precious Powerful Innocent Blood. But if you believe in your heart today and say that what Jesus Christ did wasn't true or wasn't enough or sufficient then you my friend is risking your life your eternal life and being with The Lord Jesus forever but if you die right now or in a few minutes, hours , days , months , years life is so so short in a blink of an eye you and me can be gone but Knowing you have everlasting life brings peace and you can have it right now at this very moment you can be saved always and forever more you repent which means changing your mind from unbelief in Jesus Christ for Salvation to Believing in Jesus Christ for Salvation. Simple just by believing Solely in Jesus Christ for Salvation you are saved forever and sealed with The Holy Spirit until the Day of Redemption. You can't ever lose your Salvation Once saved always saved. Jesus Christ did it for all of us He conquered death and hell . It is Finished. And if you already have believed in Jesus Christ and received The Holy Spirit then rest in His Love Thank The Lord and keep in Faith focus on what Jesus Christ did for us daily to remind you of your freedom don't be fearful rest in His love. Salvation is a Free GIFT from GOD and not earned by man through works lest any man should boast. For by Grace through faith in Christ Alone we are Saved. Let GOD be The Truth and every man a liar . GOD CANNOT LIE EVER so we cannot die. That sweet beautiful promise is Everlasting life life forever with THE ALMIGHTY SOVEREIGN TRIUNE LIVING GOD IN HEAVEN . Will eternal life still be a place of perfect peace if we dont get rewards? Im very confused by rewards. What will eternity be like to those who dont receive rewards?
We know heaven has no sin, envy, strife or contention. Therefore, the rewarding will not result in any of the sort. I personally believe rewards are prominent with regard to two areas. We find that our service does result in rewards, and the first is position in the 1,000 year kingdom with Christ. He does mention ruling and reigning with him. I reject any notion that there will be janitors vs princes because that is ridiculous. However the setup, God is righteous, and we will be satisfied perfectly. The second thing I believe rewards pertains to is souls. I believe those who we reach in Christ are a reward in and of itself. Even the angels have great joy over one sinner who repents. Perhaps we will see who we reached with the gospel, and that is the reward. Other crowns are mentioned, and God will reward accordingly, but there is no indicator that any lack of unity or sinful strife causing no peace should occur in eternity future. - Trent
I would disagree here. James specifically mentions receiving a crown, gifts, and blessings for your deeds. Other translations actually use the word “reward” here too. James 1:12 “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” James 1:25 “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”
I've been comparing two parables that are similar and I've noticed some differences that I'm trying to understand. I'm wondering if you have any insight regarding this. Parable of the Miras ( Luke 19) Parable of the talents.( Matthew 25) One starts with 10 servants and ends with 7 servants killed and one servant losing his Mira, being given to the first. The other starts with 3 servants and ends with the 3rd servant cast into hell. Any ideas or thoughts?
Question: I’m confused 😅 So, works have nothing to do with salvation, but how do you explain that by Abraham’s work made his Faith Perfect? I ask in love. Just very confused about to the perfection of Abraham’s Faith because if he didn’t do any work then does that mean his Faith isn’t made perfect? ❤
James 2:22. Good question. The word perfect could be stated as “mature.” James is not writing to unsaved people concerning their salvation, but he is writing to saved people concerning their lifestyle after being saved. Abraham was saved when he believed, but he showed his maturation when God tested him with the offering of Isaac. - Trent
@@BibleLine ooh that's so good. Not trying to Hijack the conversation, but I stumbled upon your videos last week, exactly when I was experiencing issues in my walk. I kept falling into sin, and I couldn't figure out why. Turns out I was relying on my good works and not the savior. I got too deep in the weeds of Lordship Salvation, accidentally. And it was robbing my joy. Thank you for your Ministry man. My joy In Christ has returned, I look to His righteousness and the finished work on the cross. Keep this up. My assurance has never been stronger. I get emotional thinking about it. Thanks Trent.
Good Question - Perfected faith is representative of the sanctification process and hence the rewards that Pastor Martinez is alluding to in 1 Corr 3:10-15. Blessings
He is life. He is the reason we have eternal life, justification and the whole thing. Nonetheless, rewards are something God mentions believers can earn, but they have zero to do with salvation. Also, this rewarding system is not to be thought of connected to envy, jealousy or pride. We aren’t trying to just make more rewards than believer x or believer y. It’s all about getting souls saved. God promises reward to believers who serve faithfully. The reward may simply be the fact that you’ll see those who you led to Christ in heaven! That’s fulfilling in and of itself. Perhaps the sorrow at the judgment seat of Christ is knowing what you could have done… - Trent
Question: Is it more accurate to say thou shall not kill or murder because it bothers me. I’m in the military and was thinking of going into law enforcement but I don’t want to disobey GOD and his precious Holy Word. 😢
There is a difference between murder and self-defence, and not even in the jobs you mentioned. Let's say someone breaks into your house and fires a gun at you, are you not going to defend yourself?
It's important to understand the book of James is written in the style of the old testament wisdom books. Just like Proverbs, James does not intend these statements to be read as imperative statements.
Yes. The word literally is “to protect or deliver.” You can be “saved” from hell (eternal salvation) You can be “saved” from trials (temporary) You can be “saved” from bad circumstances. Etc… Think of how David was “saved” out of his many troubles. - Trent
What’s funny is that James uses a few illustrations to express his point but people get hooked on the illustration itself and I think they miss his point because of it.
Great video. James 2 should really be titled: Actions Speak Louder Than Words. If you are a Christian in only in what you say about what you believe, and not in how you act, you are sending mixed messages. Words and deeds should be aligned. The questions asked in verses 14 and 16 are rhetorical. They are trying to get the reader to reflect and analyze their actions in conjunction with their words. Are they aligned? When we are saved, we are given gifts to use for the body. Are we employing them or are we being lazy. Works don’t prove salvation. They reveal Christ working in you to help edify the body, and be a witness for him.
Are all of us Christians likely to lose some form of reward regardless? I’m starting to believe that there is no way around it. None of us is walking this Christian walk perfectly. I remember being in a church years ago and the pastor kept insisting that I need to work on area after area of my life. There was just no end to it in sight. I was resting in my salvation but all of this talk about losing rewards, what rest??? There’s rewards to be working towards. Out of the frying pan and smothered by the marshmallow cream.
You have to fight every day, for it is a spiritual battlefield here in Earth. To avoid your despicable sins, to repent for the sins of years before. I’m not getting down on you, but I know ME and I am the chief of sinners, so I know the man next to me also is one. Remember Christ said “There is none good but God” He was of course referring to Himself as well in this(as He IS actually good). So please, don’t live under the illusion of “being a good person”. Because you ain’t. I ain’t. Why do you think of The Kingdom of Heaven as some kind of sweepstakes? Rewards are not goods…. Just getting in, just being in the presence of Your Heavenly Father… the author of love. God be with you ☦️
The motivation is not supposed to be legalistic. There is definitely an urgency, and there is definitely a time where we will be judged. Nonetheless, the main motivation to serve is Jesus Christ and him crucified. He is our Father and friend. He isn’t a lording taskmaster ready to fry us for every thing we slip up on. We love him because he loved us first. - Trent
Can faith save him is referring to context of verse 12-14 faith cannot save him from the sonship chastisement of the Lord. It’s not talking about salvation it’s talking about fear of God treating you harshly if you treat other harshly. It’s not about salvation of your soul. It’s saving from chastisement or earthly harsh correction from your Father!
Romans 5:1- "Therefore being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ..." - Eternal justification before God. James 2:24- "You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. (Key words "You see") Justification before man. How is one to figure out these verses? Use scripture to interpret scripture (a basic principle to properly understand the Bible). Romans 4:2- "For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God.” By using Romans 4:2 we can properly interpret James 2:24; here it is speaking of justification before other humans, not God. If one states that he/ she is a believer but doesn't live like it (i.e. have good works), another person isn't going to believe it. They will appear to be a hypocrete. Scripture states clearly eternal salvation: -is not by doing good works: Romans 4:5, Titus 3:5 -is not by grace through faith plus good works: Romans 11:6 -Eternal salvation is obtained by believing that Jesus Christ died to pay for your sins, was buried & rose again the third day (the gospel)- 1 Coriathians 15:1-4, Romans 1:16, John 3:16, Acts 16:30-31. If you haven't done so, will you trust Jesus Christ alone now as your Savior? Your eternal destination depends on it.
@michaeldenney5016 Genesis 22-24 when Abraham offered up his son; Isaac (his son) & anyone around the area. Also since it's recorded in the Bible all generations following that reads these chapters.
@ But Paul says Abraham was justified by faith. No man told Abraham to sacrifice his son, God did. And the angel said now I know that you fear God. Also, why would Paul go to James to sort out the matter of men from James teaching the Gentiles needed to be circumcised as well as believe for salvation? That would have definitely been justification before men if it were true.
@@michaeldenney5016 Be wise in listening to their answers. When you start with bad theology that you cannot fall from grace ,then you have to interpret everything that says otherwise away. JUst get a simple yes/no answer to the question, can you fall from grace? Compare to Paul in Galatians 5:4.;5:21 Paul teaches Christians can fall from grace, but if that's not possible his warnings are meanigless. James says, Be not deceived, then later faith without works is dead! Compare to John 3:14-18 if you don't love your brother by actions, how can the love of God be in you. Can that man's faith save him? Most commenters are saying Yes! Maybe there's not safety in numbers. Believe what you read is my advice.
James 2:15-17 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. This is exactly like the sheep and goats being judged. Those who do will receive the inheritance of the kingdom. Those who don't do, will not. That is everlasting punishment. Matthew 25:32-46 “All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. “And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. “Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 'for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; ‘I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? ‘When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? ‘Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ “And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: ‘for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; ‘I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’ “Then they also will answer Him,fn saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ “Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ “And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." James 2:21-23 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. This was the fulfillment of Abraham's faith being accounted to him for righteousness. Justified by works. Belief without works as he said is useless. Who are the friends of God? John 15:10-14 “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. Abraham was called a friend of God. He did what was commanded of him. John 8:39 They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham. Genesis 26:4-5 And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed; “because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.” James 2:24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. Romans 2:13(for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified; James 1:22-25 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. This also goes along with Matthew 25 and Mathew 7(those who build on the rock). To add, we will be judged by the law of liberty. What is this "law of liberty"? I have more to add about 1 Corinthians 3 but ive already posted a lot. If anyone has questions about it I can and will address it.

Christ gave us the free gift of salvation when we believed. He shed His blood for us, and that is how we are saved. I personally don’t like to call that a reward, but I rather prefer it as a gift. We see the idea of rewards being something earned for the believer. Our favorite passage concerning this is 1 Corinthians 3. Will we cast them at His feet? Maybe so! Rewards or not, we should be motivated to serve Him with every single day because of what He did for us. - Trent
@@BibleLine I didn't mean reward as in something we earn, but jesus Himself Is what we are striving for. And once we recieve our rewards, we will cast them at his feet because all the works we have ever performed that were actually "good" are what he performed through us. I guess I just didn't explain it very well in words what I meant. 😅
Take note of verse 17. The works is a definite article. In the Greek language the definite article needs only to be used once within the subject matter. The works is specifically pointing to The Works of the Spirit. Not our work. Verse 16 is giving a physical example. The Spirit will not leave us without. Go to verse 26. It becomes obvious the work is of the Spirit. Without the Spirit we are spiritually dead. No working of The Spirit. James is pointing to the Judeizers. James 2:26 KJV For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Jesse, you are close but close in hand grenades is still deadly. You did not go down to 1 Cor 3:17 where it says that anyone who destroys the temple gets destroyed. Up to 16 it is about gain or loss of reward with the believer yet saved so as by fire. But in 17 it moves to a place of "if what you are doing and teaching causes another believer to lose their salvation (destroyed temple) then they themselves will be destroyed (eternally). Concerning James 2 :18, it solves the works/faith debate. It says if you are a "by works I am saved" person then you had better be able to show how salvation is by faith alone and not works. And if you are a salvation by "by faith alone" person you had better show that salvation by your works. You have to have it both ways. James is talking about eternal salvation because He says in 1:15 how when sin is finished it bringing forth death. 1:22 says to be a doer not a hearer only and then says that when you are not a doer of the word you leave the mirror and forget who you are. You are leaving the mirror in which you see the image of Christ. As you move away from the mirror by not doing the word (that you believe) you lose that image of salvation (the new nature) that is only maintained by looking in the mirror of continually doing the word. Look in the mirror at home in your bathroom. As you turn away from the mirror you lose the image only seen by looking into the mirror. Am I saying this happens overnite, no. But the person who claims Christ yet habitually sins (habitually not a doer of the word) is like one who has stepped of the Empire State Building..He may not be dead yet but has a date with a sidewalk (eternal death). Finally, in James 3:1 James warns the dangers of being a teacher. The teacher has the ability to put a bit in the body of Christ's mouth, like a horse, and lead it into spiritual life or into spiritual death. This is why the teacher is judged more than none teachers. Yes, loss of reward but beyond this is hell for those who destroy the foundation of life in another believer. I can't say, in my heart, that I know you are lost by teaching OSAS but the Bible is clear that those who offend others to the point of losing their salvation will lose theirs (but you can repent and turn back). Jesse, you are on dangerous ground with OSAS. I know you do not encourage sin but OSAS message is a tacit approval of it.
Luke 18:10-14 New Living Translation 10 “Two men went to the Temple to pray. One was a Pharisee, and the other was a despised tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed this prayer[a]: ‘I thank you, God, that I am not like other people-cheaters, sinners, adulterers. I’m certainly not like that tax collector! 12 I fast twice a week, and I give you a tenth of my income.’ 13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying, ‘O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner.’ 14 I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned home justified before God. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
Titus 3:5-7 New Living Translation 5 he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.[a] 6 He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. 7 Because of his grace he made us right in his sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.

James was written to the 12 tribes of Israel NOT the body of Christ.... But since they rejected Jesus.... James teachings (aka KINGDOM Gospel) will go back into effect at the tribulation... Jacobs Trouble...The Judgment of the Nations.... Just read Matt 25 and you can clearly see the Goats and the Sheep who were believers who had faith..............and which ones made it to the Kingdom of Heaven.... God is not done with his people... Matt 25 is not The Judgment seat of Christ and it's not The Great White Throne of Judgment..... It's the judgment of the Nations of Israel being Judged according to whom helped Gods people and this is what James was teaching.... FAITH + WORKS
@@Donasavedbygrace yes today & till the Rapture but Take it up with God not me read Matt 25 these are believers who will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven because they did not help their fellow brethren. The problem is that people don't know the difference between the Body of Christ and who yes always been saved by Grace... and the coming Kingdom who will be part of the earthly redeemed Israel in the Millennial Kingdom... The Body of Christ did not replace Gods people the natural branches... They're blind in part for our behalf... This means most of the Jews will never come to faith alone in Christ now today... So what does this mean? Will God save them? Yes but the Jews always needed a sign and this was the whole point of the Olivet discourse to show them the difference between those whom believed and backed by their actions so they wouldn't be deceived... God will show them signs in the tribulation in the form of miracles, dreams, Law in their hearts, two witnesses, 144,000 virgins males preaching.... along with so much more... seals, moon, 3 days of darkness, water turns to blood etc etc... This is not the case for today we do not need signs or to show others anything by our actions today... All our actions will prove to God Today and at the Judgment seat of Christ is if we gained any rewards if it was done in the Spirit of God or not when we are burned with the righteousness of God and whatever is not burned up as wood hay and stubble... will be rewarded in the form of precious stones...
@@alexgarmin8457 According to your false interpretation ,people did not get saved by FAITH ALONE before Paul ? What about the thief on the cross? what kind of works ,did he performe to be saved by Christ? The thief was not SEALED by the HS . The body of Christ is all believers SEALED BY THE HS .
The Goats of Matthew 25 aren’t saved because they never believed. You can’t change salvation doctrine just because of hyper Dispensational teachings combined with “tough” passages like Matthew 25. Jesus is clear throughout Matthew “thy FAITH hath saved thee/made thee whole.” It’s been faith alone, and it remains faith alone. James and his audience were a part of the body of Christ. You’re right that Matthew 25 is a different judgment, but let me remind you of Romans 4:4 and Galatians 2:21. If works are required, God owes us, AND Christ died in vain. This applies to the tribulation. Don’t let Matthew trip you up into changing doctrines around. His writings are very much Kingdom oriented. - Trent
Please don't let false doctrine determine your understanding of scripture. Hyper dispensationalism is easily proven false doctrine to anyone still open to the truth of God's word. There's no way you can have an accurate understanding of the bible if you believe doctrine which teaches works once played a part in anyone's salvation. It really doesn't take much research to understand the bible doesn't teach that. Do you want to have an accurate understanding of God's word? Get away from false doctrine and those teaching it long enough to do the research necessary to learn how the bible says Old Testament saints were saved. It would take only an half an hour at the most.
Please don’t be decieved. James is talking about salvation here. Simply put a faith that is living will produce works, but that faith cannot be earned it was given to us by Jesus, that is why it does not contradict what Paul says. read your bible and be guided by The Holy Spirit. God bless
So if somebody Works not, their faith is counted onto righteousness, does that seem contradictory to you. Because Romans chapter 4 verse five denotes that people who do not have works yet have faith are still justified.
Romans chapter 4 verse five shows that people who do not have works yet have faith are still justified. Do you feel that there’s any contradictory ideas with what you are stating is being illustrated in the book of James
Active/living faith produces good works yes. Inactive/dead faith is by no means invalid, false or non-existent faith. Faith is black and white. You either have it or you don’t. Living faith as you call it is recommended by James, but it’s not the only type of faith that saves you. You can have inactive faith and still make it to heaven, that’s just not very profitable to others, and you will suffer loss of eternal rewards, but not eternal life.
@@mechplaysgames9164 That's the thing, though, by all means and purposes there's no Salvation whatsoever with OSAS, for it is a heresy, indeed. So, making someone realize that is a perfectly fine thing to do, even commendable, because ultimately is for their own good, the whole point. So, indeed, one can ask who is the accuser? And that would be the one that accuses the people helping other people to realize they are practicing a heresy; and who is the comforter? And that would be the one helping others realize they can escape such heresy in order to find Salvation.
The Accuser is Satan himself. Nonetheless, thanks for your comments GranMaese. We do agree that the text is to be read letting it speak for itself. Here’s a couple questions for you. Did Jesus die for all sin of all time? Does the believer receive eternal life, or life until _____? Not trying to load the question, but we truly desire to know your answer. We’re not interested in arguing, but we really care about the salvation of souls. We are also separate from a reformed view, but I suppose you could discern these things. - Trent
You know when a person is not stressed about losing their salvation usually they work harder for the Lord. It's comparable to a workforce on earth, if a person is under constant stress their performance is going to lack. A lot of people are going to quit which is why Calvinism and Lordship salvation are like a revolving door. No security, no assurance, loss of faith and ultimately depression. It's terrible. A person should never keep sinning once they become a believer but its not to keep their salvation, it's to be a good son. A good father doesn't disown their child because they mess up. They chastise them and welcome them back when they turn back to him or they let them live with the consequences of their actions, but he is still their father.
@@BibleLine You are welcome, Trent, but If you're truly interested in my opinion, then why did you remove the previous one? Why not let that opinion be visible? [and if it was not you, then the other guy reported it or something, which speaks volumes about intellectual honesty, the whole point and go figure. My previous reply has been removed, or it has at least been shadowbanned at the moment I'm writing this. The one where I precisely said the accuser is the one trying to prevent others from helping the rest to find actual Salvation and help them not to be deceived by lies and heresies like OSAS. While the comforter is the one that helps those people that have been fooled by such lie to find truth. Jesus is truth itself, while OSAS is a lie. Therefore OSAS is not and can't be from Jesus. Jesus died in the cross for our sins, indeed, but one still has to cooperate with Him to partake in His sacrifice, He doesn't force anyone to believe, otherwise believing would be meaningless. It has to be by choice. One person being allowed back into a building after they were expelled for making a mess [so to speak] doesn't mean that they will choose to return to the building at all [they may choose not to do so], and if they do, that doesn't mean they can't be cast out again if they keep making a mess, which was the reason they were expelled in first place. Is that simple. The problem is you don't understand what the sacrifice of Jesus is even about. You believe is a cool-bypass out fo good-will to sinful creatures "just because", to let you do whatever you want without any consequences, which is just absurd, is illogical [and God is the author of logic and order itself, therefore such conclusion can't be from God neither]. _That's not how it works, that's not how anything works!_ In reality, Jesus did His sacrifice because of two things, first, His love to humanity; humanity sinned, which is an offense to God, and therefore compromised its relationship with God, separating itself from Him, therefore God had to expel humanity, for He is perfectly just and nothing impure can be alongside God, but God also wanted humanity at His side, for He loves us, so He planned how to rescue us, for He is perfectly merciful. The second is, because the offense was made to God, the debt of such offense is therefore infinite, because God is infinite. Humanity itself can't ever pay an infinite debt by itself, because humanity is a finite entity, only God can pay an infinite debt, so He became one of us so we can all pay through Him that infinite debt. That's the importance of recognizing Jesus as fully human and fully God, for He can pay for all of us by being one of us that way, and He can also pay the infinite debt of sin because He is God. However, this doesn't mean you can go sinning again [make a mess in the building again], because that's the very reason God *had* to expel us in first place, the whole point, because nothing impure can be alongside God. What happens with Jesus' sacrifice is that He allows us to go back to be with God, he reopens the doors [so to speak], but one still has to accept His offer of reuniting with Him and behave once inside. If you break the rules again, out again you go. Know what am I saying? This is why the man-made ideology of OSAS is so absurd [with all due respect, dear brother] trying to justify evil or morally questionable things as permisible whenever you feel like it, as if being allowed back into the building would mean you can start making a mess whenever you like again. That's so Satan-minded, one can't even... If we commit sin again, or simply decide to turn our backs on Him, then we're directly denying His grace and are rather insulting Him again, we are separating ourselves from Him again. You would be rejecting Jesus' sacrifice, not partaking in it, therefore you would be missing Salvation. The whole point. Godbless.
So, a dead faith is one that (will) save a man according to you? You're saying the opposite of what James says. Can that man's faith save him? THe implied answer to this rhetorical question is NO! It will not save him! You say "save" doesn't mean salvation? It means rewards! Does James even mention the word "rewards" in this chapter that you keep adding in? No! You're playing fast and loose to prop up your doctrine of once saved always saved. You're doing what Satan did in the garden when God told Adam the day you eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you will die! Satan told Eve, No, you won't die!. He completely contradicted what God said. In James he's talking about righteousness, justification and being saved. Yet you say it's not about salvation it's about rewards and yet it's not even mentioned. THat's reading into the sriptures. You know that.
@@BibleLine Faith and works are wrought together and by works faith is made perfect. Do you agree or disagree? ANd a simple yes or no will suffice do you believe a person with a dead faith can be saved?
“Is made perfect” means is made mature. So, yes. A person who believed in Christ and has a dead, unprofitable faith is still saved; yes. They’re saved into eternal life, but they aren’t “saved” from the unmerciful judgment seat of Christ… 1 Cor. 3:10-15. - Trent
This is incorrect, you are denying the clear mentions of rewards from James. James specifically mentions receiving a crown, gifts, and blessings for your deeds. Other translations actually use the word “reward” here too. If you understand the Judgement Seat of Christ you will understand James.
I emailed you a video of a pretty big youtube guy explaining James a little bit differently, do you think you can react to it? I think it's about a 12 minute long video that I sent
Of all the fears I have, the one that I fear the most is sitting in heaven thinking “man, I really wasted my time on earth.”
Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
I highly doubt you will have any regrets when you get to Heaven. All memories of wickedness and death will be cleansed from us.
Thank you pastor . James wrote to believers ,he called them brethren.

James 1:1
James was writing to the twelve tribes of Israel, those were his brethren.

Faith cannot save you from a loss of reward.
It makes sense.
Which is harder? For faith to save you from sin or for a loss of rewards? Please expound.
Paul & James are speaking of two different types of justification:
-Paul, justification before God.
Thanks again my dear brother for the CLARIFICATION!😊

Salvation is a free gift. Rewards are earned for service that stands up to God's standards at the Bema seat of judgment.

Please will you do part 2? So many Christians I know believe that we can lose our salvation and they use James 2.

I have one question
Should I wait for God's calling to service Jesus or live for Jesus? Pastor

Once you place your Faith in Jesus Christ for Salvation you are Saved and Sealed with The Holy Spirit until the Day of Redemption.
Remember Scripture says in Romans 8 33 -39 that Nothing can separate us from The Love of GOD "
That means nothing we can do or anyone else can do to separate us from The Love of GOD.
You can't ever lose your Salvation
Once saved always saved.
GOD CANNOT LIE EVER
so we cannot die.
That sweet beautiful promise is Everlasting life life forever with THE ALMIGHTY SOVEREIGN TRIUNE LIVING GOD IN HEAVEN .

Great video.

While James doesn’t mention hellfire, it would also be fair to point out that he also doesn’t mention loss of rewards or other types of judgement.
I would disagree here. James specifically mentions receiving a crown, gifts, and blessings for your deeds. Other translations actually use the word “reward” here too.
James 1:12
“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”
James 1:17
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”
James 1:25
“But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”
I’ve heard it said about the Bible that you should believe what you read and not read what you believe.
Thank you pastor great video, could you please do a video on the mark of the beast
We have a pastor react we intend on doing regarding that topic!!

I've been comparing two parables that are similar and I've noticed some differences that I'm trying to understand. I'm wondering if you have any insight regarding this.
Parable of the Miras ( Luke 19)
Parable of the talents.( Matthew 25)
One starts with 10 servants and ends with 7 servants killed and one servant losing his Mira, being given to the first.
The other starts with 3 servants and ends with the 3rd servant cast into hell.
Any ideas or thoughts?
ARE REWARDS RESTORABLE? OR ARE THEY GIVEN ONLY ONCE DURING THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT?
Question: I’m confused 😅 So, works have nothing to do with salvation, but how do you explain that by Abraham’s work made his Faith Perfect? I ask in love. Just very confused about to the perfection of Abraham’s Faith because if he didn’t do any work then does that mean his Faith isn’t made perfect? ❤
Can you cite the scripture you are implying? Not sure if anyone gave you an answer yet.
James 2:22.
Good question.
The word perfect could be stated as “mature.” James is not writing to unsaved people concerning their salvation, but he is writing to saved people concerning their lifestyle after being saved. Abraham was saved when he believed, but he showed his maturation when God tested him with the offering of Isaac.

Blessings

Thank you!

thankyou for always keeping it real GmaJo
I thought Jesus was the reward . That’s all I want and need is Jesus
Perhaps the sorrow at the judgment seat of Christ is knowing what you could have done…

Praise Our God and Savior Jesus, and make sure you KNOW Him or you will not be saved or lose your salvation.
It's important to understand the book of James is written in the style of the old testament wisdom books. Just like Proverbs, James does not intend these statements to be read as imperative statements.

There is the word SAVE...are you saying that there are different kinds of salvation?
Yes. The word literally is “to protect or deliver.”
You can be “saved” from hell (eternal salvation)
You can be “saved” from trials (temporary)
You can be “saved” from bad circumstances.
James says a person is justified by works and not faith alone.
So would you say we are saved by faith and justified by our works.
Romans 5:1- "Therefore being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ..." - Eternal justification before God.
James 2:24-
"You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. (Key words "You see") Justification before man.
How is one to figure out these verses?
Use scripture to interpret scripture (a basic principle to properly understand the Bible).
Romans 4:2-
"For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God.”
By using Romans 4:2 we can properly interpret James 2:24; here it is speaking of justification before other humans, not God. If one states that he/ she is a believer but doesn't live like it (i.e. have good works), another person isn't going to believe it. They will appear to be a hypocrete.
Scripture states clearly eternal salvation:
-is not by doing good works: Romans 4:5, Titus 3:5
-is not by grace through faith plus good works: Romans 11:6
-Eternal salvation is obtained by believing that Jesus Christ died to pay for your sins, was buried & rose again the third day (the gospel)- 1 Coriathians 15:1-4, Romans 1:16, John 3:16, Acts 16:30-31.
If you haven't done so, will you trust Jesus Christ alone now as your Savior?
Your eternal destination depends on it.
@ maybe I’m a little slow. But James used Abraham as proof that works justify. What man was Abraham justifying himself to?
@michaeldenney5016
Genesis 22-24 when Abraham offered up his son; Isaac (his son) & anyone around the area.
Lee Brainard anyone?🤔 From Sooth keep channel.
James 2:15-17
If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food,
and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?
Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
This is exactly like the sheep and goats being judged. Those who do will receive the inheritance of the kingdom. Those who don't do, will not. That is everlasting punishment.
Matthew 25:32-46
“All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.
“And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.
“Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
'for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;
‘I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?
‘When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?
‘Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’
“And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:
‘for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink;
‘I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’
“Then they also will answer Him,fn saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’
“Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’
“And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
James 2:21-23
Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?
Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?
And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.
This was the fulfillment of Abraham's faith being accounted to him for righteousness. Justified by works. Belief without works as he said is useless.
Who are the friends of God?
John 15:10-14
“If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
John 8:39
They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham.
Genesis 26:4-5
And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed;
“because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”
James 2:24
You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
Romans 2:13(for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;
James 1:22-25
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;
for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

Jews would refer to each other as brethren also.
But wait.....isnt christ our reward? We are going to cast our crowns at his feet anyway.
“Brother” is something Jews call each other. Even Paul calls unbelieving jews his brothers.
Bur doesn't he (James) tell them have not the FAITH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST without partiality (James 2:1)
James 2:26 KJV
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
I think the most dangerous things to do is to not rightly divide The Word of Truth and not stay in context of Scripture because if it is preached out of context to someone they will suffer with confusion, despair and mental torment or confuse others like a chain pattern going to the next person and to the next person like an infectious disease.
One that has been hurting so many believers is taking this part of Scripture in Matthew out of context when Jesus Christ was speaking to the pharisees
Matthew 12:32
King James Version
32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
Remember Scripture says in Romans 8 33 -39 that Nothing can separate us from The Love of GOD "
That means nothing we can do or anyone else can do to separate us from The Love of GOD.
You can't ever lose your Salvation
Once saved always saved.

New Living Translation
10 “Two men went to the Temple to pray. One was a Pharisee, and the other was a despised tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed this prayer[a]: ‘I thank you, God, that I am not like other people-cheaters, sinners, adulterers. I’m certainly not like that tax collector! 12 I fast twice a week, and I give you a tenth of my income.’
13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed.

He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.[a] 6 He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. 7 Because of his grace he made us right in his sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.
Matthew 7:21-23
King James Version
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

FAITH + WORKS
salvation has been and will be always by god's grace . faith +works is a false gospel. James does not teach false gospel.
Jesus is clear throughout Matthew “thy FAITH hath saved thee/made thee whole.”
It’s been faith alone, and it remains faith alone.

God bless
Romans 4:5
King James Version
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
When you let the Sacred texts speak for themselves, the whole OSAS gets obliterated, though. Absolute heresy.
Do you enjoy making people question their salvation? Who is the accuser and who is the comforter?

_That's not how it works, that's not how anything works!_
In reality, Jesus did His sacrifice because of two things, first, His love to humanity; humanity sinned, which is an offense to God, and therefore compromised its relationship with God, separating itself from Him, therefore God had to expel humanity, for He is perfectly just and nothing impure can be alongside God, but God also wanted humanity at His side, for He loves us, so He planned how to rescue us, for He is perfectly merciful.
Godbless.
Faith without works is dead. If you believe what the Bible says, apply into your life.
Save from what? To what?
Faith doesn’t save into eternal life; you’re right.
It’s faith IN Jesus that saves into eternal life…
- Trent
@@BibleLine Faith and works are wrought together and by works faith is made perfect. Do you agree or disagree? ANd a simple yes or no will suffice do you believe a person with a dead faith can be saved?
“Is made perfect” means is made mature. So, yes.
A person who believed in Christ and has a dead, unprofitable faith is still saved; yes. They’re saved into eternal life, but they aren’t “saved” from the unmerciful judgment seat of Christ…
1 Cor. 3:10-15.

This is incorrect, you are denying the clear mentions of rewards from James. James specifically mentions receiving a crown, gifts, and blessings for your deeds. Other translations actually use the word “reward” here too. If you understand the Judgement Seat of Christ you will understand James.
NO.
It absolutely destroys free grace theology
How so?

You're going to Hell.
