Vera Duckworth’s voice grates on my nerves, but she was a brilliant actress. Same with Hilda Ogden. The actress was priceless. Bette Lynch too. When I was younger I’d know idea how fantastic actors they all were.

Did they give shared custody a lot there in the 80’s? Because shared custody is popular now but wasn’t so much then. The dad would get every other weekend (which is 4 days each month) then 2weeks in the summer. It was a standard arrangement , at least where I live, in that time. They thought a father was unnecessary
I love ❤️ Corrie back in day and I like 👍 the characters but my favourite 5 characters are bet Hilda Vera jack and Alec, bet Hilda and Vera just get straight to the point and don’t beat around the bush! Thanks for the upload

I don't know who wrote the Gail-is-unfaithful storyline but it's completely unbelievable. No wonder I had stopped watching the show several years previously.
So many poor actors with just a few exceptions. So many dislikeable characters for a small street and a backstreet pub. I missed the original showing from the mid 80s onwards and have read that Corrie deteriorates, just didn't realise it started so soon. Knowing that certain characters are around for years to come like Gail, Audrey, Barlow etc etc is an encouragement to give up. Wilton reappearing is almost unbearable. Hilda keeps me interested. I might stay to see the 80s out and then reconsider.
Actually ivy a little boy suffers far worse consequences without a father than without a mother. (Obviously neither option is good. I’ll say it here so I don’t get the “A mother would be a big loss too” response, that’s obvious but must be said I guess) It’s been long enough and we have made divorce so easy (almost more favored than marriage) that we have seen the consequences on mass. Another thing we trashed with “progress”, the family. And we see how well we are doing now🙄

Ivy again makes reference to Brian's religion ... she supposedly brought him up a Catholic , but down the years, he has always seemed not to know the least thing about it; very badly written.
