  • @thanasisbethanis

    You should really look into Home Assistant! You can consolidate all those devices into a single hardware (and essentially throw away all the hubs) rather than using 4 separate hubs. Not to mention you are now using Philips Bridge and Aqara Hub who are both Zigbee meaning two seperate zigbee networks on top of each other rather putting all into one network which would make a better mesh.

    • @dougoberman2540
      @dougoberman2540 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm an avid HomeAssistant user, and I actually use both, because no matter what I do, Hue has always been significantly more stable than a Zigbee stick for lights. Everything else though, I use direct zigbee connections.

But have you thought about doing a scheduled shower/ timer turn on and off at a certain time? or at certain times of day that is turns on then timer off? it is one thing i would do if i was in my own home. and I am curious why you do not use Alexa since it's app can do IFTTT type of format now. far exceeds what Google can do

    Alex for the somfy blinds to rise up by 15% or something like that you need to change the moter and the remote. Your current setup of the blinds is using a wireless moter called sonness RTS. it can only go up, down , and a favorite position that you can set up. for correct moter that will give you the ability to rise it up by % its the sonness IO. if you change them to IO then you need to change the remotes as well because there using different technologies.

    I'm honestly shocked you have this much smart home gear and are not using Home Assistant! Also a couple of the issues you are facing like not being able to control the exact position of the blinds without the remote can be solved using HA. More over you can also condense all your Zigbee hubs down to a single stick plugged into a HA server. And it also means you wouldn't need to use routines to check if other lights are on or off to activate. Much more reliable that way.

    Check out Home Assistant, but don't run it on a Pi, run it on a real computer. I think you'd quite enjoy the ability to integrate everything into one hub capable of powerful complex automations as well as the ability to expose any of the devices out into an Apple Home for Siri control.

    Alex you can configure your Hue remotes in HomeKit to do different scenes. So you can have all 4 buttons doing different scenes without it needing a routine/automation to decide what to do. Like your living room play bars turning the other stuff on. You can set what each button on the Hue dimmer does in the HomeKit app. For example, I’ve got mine so when I press lights off button on dimmer my blinds close, my heating turns off, the lights turn off, all Apple TV’s turn off and my house alarm activates for night mode. I think it gives more customisation options so you can change lights without it making others go on or off. 👍🏼

      You can do a lot of stuff cheaper if you’re fine with a bit of tinkering. HomeAssistant can make all the things mentioned in the video and way more than that. You are also able to do a lot of the things way cheaper by for example using a Shelly which makes all your existing lights that are controlled with a standard light switch smart. All that for about 10-15€ per light switch and and a bit of tinkering.

    The OCD in me would configure your hue switches in HomeKit instead of having your hue config + HomeKit automation. The reason being there is currently a delay between your hue device turning on and your other devices turning on. Having all the lights just set to turn on when the switch is pressed through HomeKit would get rid of that delay as everything would activate at the same time. The downsides to this would be you would need to rely on HomeKit to do the processing which is less stable and has more downtime than the hue hub imo, but you could also configure the switch in both hue and HomeKit so your hue devices turn on with the hue app config and the other devices turn on with the HomeKit config. This would still reduce the delay between all the lights turning on and also provide at least your hue devices the extra reliance of having your hue hub do the processing so you at least have some sort of light available if HomeKit decides to fall over.

    • @misstubbie1313
      @misstubbie1313 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Question: can you configure the Hue dimmer switch in both Homekit AND the Philips Hue app. I thought they were mutually excluding, or rather conflicting with each other.
      I like to have all my automations in Homekit but the Hue motion sensor that turns the bathroom lights on has a considerable delay. Most of the time I’m standing in the dark for a good 2-3 seconds before the lights turn on as they’re supposed to. I wonder if I should set the automation in the Philips Hue app as well. If that’s even possible of course

    • @sulylunat
