I didn't wear sunscreen daily until I was about 27. I don't really spend a whole lot of time in the sun but even at 30 I'm starting to notice some sunspots. Now that I'm on Tretinoin and hydroquinone, sunscreen is a RITUAL. I use the beauty of Joseon sunscreen and I carry one in my purse for reapplication. Also have a wide brim visor that I bring everywhere with me.

Oh girl, I didn't start wearing it until now at 37. I'd only wear it in the summer when we were out in the sun for a long time. Never would I put it on in summer, spring, fall, or winter days I went in and out of the house.

Hated wearing sunscreen because my skin is literally almost as black as an Oreo and most sunscreens look like spreading whipped cream all over 🤢 🤮 wasn’t until I realized chemical sunscreens don’t really leave that gross film, though I’m still never wearing physical sunscreens (I tried the tinted Elta MD, and it’s still a bit too light 😭)

I hate most physical ones even if they are tinted and have no white cast. But it is hard for me to find chemical ones that don't burn my eyes. I recently bought super goop unseen sunscreen (chemical) it doesn't sting or burn eyes, it's sweat and water resistant, it doesn't leave your face shiny looking, has a silicone feel but not bad. It works great.only downside is it comes in a small bottle. I'm only going to use it on my face and my kids. Not all over. I'm not too picky what sunscreen or sunblock I put on my body.

I live in Australia and I didn't wear sunscreen daily until I was 48 years old. Only ever wore it to my extremely rare trips to the beach. During the Covid lockdowns a couple of years ago I got into skincare videos on TH-cam so was inspired to start wearing it and buying fantastic Korean and Japanese SPF50 sunscreens. My skin now looks so much better than it did when I was 48. Thank you for teaching me, Cassandra!!!!! 😘

As an acne sufferer who broke out in cystic acne (that scarred horribly) when any sunscreen was applied to my face, I cannot be more obsessed with the ZitSticka MegaShade. It’s absolutely perfect, doesn’t break me out, and even comes in a travel size. I recommend it to everyone with (or without) acne, just a 10/10. • @Mia-yk2is

I used to never wear sunscreen because my autism makes me SUPER sensitive to textures and all sunscreens I’d used (usually cheap drugstore body sunscreens) made me want to rip my skin off, but then a few years ago I went camping and got 2nd degree burns all over my face... and trust me, getting your face all swollen up really motivates you to do better.
Since then I’ve tried countless facial sunscreens (most of which I absolutely hated! including some from this video!) and only just recently have I found one that works for me aka supergoop unseen sunscreen. (and I just tried the trader joes sunscreen dupe and it actually is a good substitute, if you want to try out a similar formula for a fraction of the cost during your sunscreen searching journey!)
Finding what works for you might take a lot of trial and error, but it’s definitely worth it to know that you’re protecting your health. And once you know what works for you, it’s an easy part your your routine!

I’m also a pale Bitch who was also slathered in SPF by my Mom my entire childhood.
When I was in HS my Dad got 4-5 freckles/moles biopsied to check for skin cancer………right before my Mom was out of town for a week. Sooooooo I got to clean, ointment & redress my Dad’s biopsy spots 2Xs per day for that entire week.
Since then I’ve ALWAYS been obsessive about applying SPF when I’m going to be outside for an extensive amount of time. BUT wasn’t using it daily regularly & reapplying daily (I did when being active outside), UNTIL I found you & Hyram’s videos.
Since then I’ve been applying & reapplying daily and the ONLY burn I’ve gotten all summer is a little bit on one thigh when I was road tripping and didn’t reapply on my legs while we were driving. That’s AMAZING bc previously I would usually still burn once towards the beginning of summer.
Not burns for me anymore babies!!!

I only used to wear sunscreen if i was going to be out in the sun for a long time, say a trip to the beach, playing sports or going for a hike. Not on a daily basis when going out. And that too, because i thought wearing sunscreen would prevent me from tanning! You know, getting dark...

At the beach we used metallic reflector screens around our neck to funnel and reflect the suns rays onto our faces. right thru the 90‘s I only ever wore spf at the beach. I’ve suffered from severe sunburn and sunstroke in the past because I foolishly chose to walk in the glaring sun for several hours without having access to sunscreen. It was horrific. I’m very fair and my skin became so red and sore; my upper chest and back were covered in blisters. My nose was weeping as it was trying to form a scab. I dread to think what lasting damaged this might have caused.
I now try to apply sunscreen everyday despite living in the north of England where the UV index is usually low. But it’s important to establish this life-saving and pain-avoiding habit.

I wear sunscreen since I was a foetus because I was born and brought up on a tropical island where sun is our neighbor and my mum was a nurse so she always brought sunscreen for us. Actually, I had pimples just like you. And I used to slather sunscreen everywhere regardless of the feel. However, with supergoop and Derma co sunscreen I feel more comfortable. I also don't mind whitecast because my skin just burns. I just want to be protected from the sun at all cost. Thanks for these recommendations, I'll try them all out because I am a sunscreen worshipper.

Hello Cassandra, not sure weather you already know some of the products, but i would really like you to review some of the products which danish influencers advertise for.
    These brands are for example:
    - Oslo skinlab - collagen powder
    - ecooking
    - clinique (especially their new 100h moisture surge)
    -pudderdåserne (aha peeling and cremes)
    - IS clinical
    - medex
    - la roche-posay
    - avene
    - vichy
    - bioderma
    - a-derma
    - ducray
    - clinic way /dr. Irena eris
Like in general, danish stores just sell so much and I find it hard to spot the differences between trash and gold😭
Also, I am in my twenties and unfortunately, only now realizing how import my skin is. Me and my friend talked about that it would be so great if you could make a video reviewing some of these popular brands being sold in Denmark. And also if you could make like a guide for someone who is not skintellectual, like from A-Z in what order do you apply what if you are a newbie, and even how do you know your skintype?
For example, i have dry skin at mu forehead, but blackheads on my nose and chin, my eyelids are also mostly oily but even though i am only 25 years old, i have beginning wrinkles in my forehead😭
Cassandra help a girl out please

Black Girl Sunscreen Kids SPF 50! It's /amazing/ & perrrfffecttttt for face and body! It's $10 for 3.4oz.
You can get it at Target & Walgreens (both of which also have occasional sales too). It does not have the sunscreen smell, instead a v-v-light lavender smell. Application & once applied it legit feels like a light hydrating lotion. ((I'm 25, normal-dry skin, v-acne prone, work outside/active, & super anti-sunscreen smell preference.))
    So worth checking out ✨✨✨

Thank you for sharing this video. I learned about sunscreen late, but I'm recently getting into it. I own Supergoop and Blackgirl Sunscreen. Both are amazing. I also had to learn about lip balms with sunscreen as well. I never knew how important sunscreen was for skin health.

Cassandra, thank you so much for introducing me to the Zitsticka sunscreen serum 50 spf. I have combination skin that sometimes breaks out, and I’m big on anti aging and been wearing sunscreen daily since age 18. This zitsticka sunscreen is great, feels good on my skin, i didn’t burn (i usually don’t burn anyways) but the best part is it didn’t make me break out like a lot of sunscreens do. I got mine from target and it wasn’t too pricey. Keep making these videos, i thought i knew a lot about skin care but you have really helped me level up! Keep doing what you do! Thanks! ❤-Alex

With my Isle of Paradise self tanning drops and Super Goop shimmery sunscreen I look like I have the most beautiful tan ever. It makes my skin glow and looks so much better than a natural tan. And yes I would’ve been your friend because my mom dressed us in the most hideous outfits too. You are so funny which makes your videos 100% more entertaining.

Cassandra!!!! please try my two recommendations for sunscreen - one is Dr.Ceuracle Cica Regen Vegan Sun SPF 50 - it's chemical, with new-gen filters (ocean safe) - the brand is Korean and cruelty-free, it's reeeeally soothing and super nice on the skin. and the other one is Benton Mineral Sun Cream SPF50+/PA++++ - it's mineral, also cruelty-free, and vegan, and it blends into my skin soo nice WITH NO WHITE CAST, even though it's zinc oxide based.

I am 18 and started using sunscreen daily this year c:
    Spf 50 babyyy
I like huge bottles of sunscreen that's usually for the beach, even if they make me look very oily and ain't designed to hide or blend in with the skin and even if they're very white and make me look like I'm painted because firstly, if I rub it enough it'll eventually spread evenly on the skin, secondly, being thick and white when applied helps me see it better while I apply and so I don't miss any spots, and third, my skin has actually seen improvement since I started using it. Because every day I apply it and then wash it off with soap at home (it's mineral based) my skin has become sooo smooth and my acne? Gone. You'd think it'll get u more acne cuz it's very oily but no actually, because I wash it off every time I return home before I hop into bed it sort of always keeps my skin moisturized and with the perfect amount of oil so it's never too oily or too dry and my skin tone is so evenly distributed now! Like before I would feel so much shame because my neck and shoulders would tan so so much and the rest of my body wouldn't and I would just look like someone threw me into a microwave and burnt me on some spots and left others cold xD but now it looks very even and soft and squishy

I love a few of these you mentioned. Especially the Australian Gold and Black Girl Sunscreen. They are so high quality for a great price. I also love Bondi Sands for my face. It’s very thin and hydrates very well. I spend a lot of time teaching my daughters to use sunscreen properly and consistently. Thankfully, my Mom taught me well and I’ve never had to worry when I visit the dermatologist because of that. Thank you for the suggestions! I’m going to try out a few of these! I thoroughly enjoy your videos! 😍

I'm in my early 30s and about 6 months into daily sunscreen. I was wearing Black Girl Sunscreen until summer hit hard and I got super oily. Jack Black oil-free is working out better for me right now. I'll go back to my Black Girl Sunscreen in the fall. I like a dewy look. It's just that right now I'm producing my own dew and it feels yucky!

It's elf holy hydration and it's so good. No white cast and wears really well. I love it.

Also look for new spots. I got a strange reddish spot on the top of my underarm. At first I thought it were some clustered spiderveins but then it started to grow a bit and became flaky. My GP took a biopt and is was pre cancerous tissue. So now I use a chemo cream to treat it.
I'm not a sun bather, don't go in the sun between 11.00 and 15.00 abd wear sunscreen but even with those precautions I got this spot. So also do check yourself even when you use sunscreen!

I didn’t start wearing sunscreen until just 5 months ago. I live in a tropical country and used to love being under the sun. People even praised me for how my skin looked so nice and I think that’s because I used hydrating cleanser, toner and moisturizer. I had the occasional dark spots and thought it was cute when I look glowy under it. Recently had breakouts from med school(yes studied histology but still…😅) stress and that’s when I started incorporating sunscreen in my routine. And now I’m only few months til I turn 30, skincare has been my top priority day and night.
Imagine if I didn’t have a breakout and continued not using sunscreen 😅

My eyes are soooo sensitive to sunscreen. It’s sooooo annoying haha my skin will love a sunscreen then an hour later my eyes are so red and irritated. I have found a few sunscreens that are good enough but I haven’t found my holy grail yet lol
I’d love more sunscreen videos! Maybe about some sunscreens that are just middle ground in terms of price.

Hey Cassandra, firstly thank you for teaching skin care. You are my go to person to understand skincare, coz in India I haven't found someone like you. Btw, happy to say that Ordinary is now in India and I can use some of your favorites from that. 😍😍😍 I do have a question, hoping you could answer. Do I have to reapply sunscreen even if it's cloudy and rainy throughout the day? I am mostly at home and there is no sun crawling in from any part of our house 😅. Thank you again for everything. Milani has an SPF setting spray that I use and bring with me if I'm going to be outside. I also will take sunscreen and pat it in rather than rub. I don't usually wear heavy makeup so the patting method works for me, but it light not work for someone who is wearing a full face.
