No not a girl dad, however grew up with 3 sisters and a mom, only male so I sorta know what it’s like being the only male, however I didn’t grow up with 3 perfectionist ( Angelina, mom Sara, and grandma Mery) there’s so much going on in this video first Angelina said grandma and mom did the set, cousins and little sister in the video grandma produced, Mery never misses a chance to film her grandchildren. But then you have black leather outfit, Priscilla hair, red guitar, when lounging in chair blue suede boots and classic Elvis with the guitar neck pointing down and only a few strums. Angelina’s voice is continuing to grow most people don’t understand she’s only 16, and still has another 10 or fifteen years before it’s fully developed. Anyway I’m sure you understand that an education out ways fame and her team is doing a stellar job by holding her back not that she’s known worldwide now.

She has 5 outdoor concerts in Norway after this vid. And you wouldn't believe how great she is, especially in the very last show. She laughs, she cries, dedicated songs, and with all that, she kills it with the vocals, new vocals. She is getting better by the performance. 🇺🇲😎👍💯🌟

The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. Did you notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. I think her cousins are portraying the children of the family in which there are suspicious minds (story line of the song) ... hence a trap. Everyone's emotional reaction to the first image of the baby shows how strong the emotional bonds to family are. Why would she be representing herself in this song? Why do you guess, or do you have inside info on the meaning of the images?
@@nyima04011 Thanks Deborah. I base my interpretation on my knowledge of Angelina's journey from an 18 month old little girl singing a "classic" of music history 'I Will Always Love You' . She has been listening to these classics on repeat on U-Tube since then under the guidance and inspiration of her Grandmother Mery Zamani. She has been performing these classics since her first time in studio at 6 yrs old.. She has continued this journey through her 1st introduction to the world with her "Classic'" 'Gloomy Sunday and following with her many performances at her many Jazz Festivals, TV performances, Concerts, and charity events, studio recordings and practice sessions at home accompanied or not. The location in the Antique store represents these classics (like the furniture) of another era. To me she portrays wonder at all these classics surrounding her. as she has travelled this road. Her tribute to Elvis is at her present age, today, each stage represented by her cousins and sister and ending with Angelina herself on the couch still admiring all this history surrounding her. The beautiful rendition of the song, and other tributes are in the leather outfit, Guitar and hair a tribute to Priscilla. Just my interpretation but it makes the most sense to me. .♥👣👸🏻
I believe the girls represent Angelina's evolution from a baby to her now "grown up" look since she always preformed in white attire. This is a new sound from Angelina and is more of what I expect to hear when her album is released hopefully this year.

Angelina never ceases to amaze me, at just how incredibly talented she is, and that she can take her voice to newer levels, we have never heard before.....there is something so special about her ability, to tell the songs story, allowing us to listen with a new perspective, and hear & feel emotions, we may not have heard from the original artist 💖💖💖 Not only her voice, but her delivery is also her gift!

The song was written by Mark James. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, he is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of."
Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song.
The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family.
Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).

The Elvis movie is beautiful and sad as well: like in this song Elvis was caught in a trap he could not get out. In contrast his version of this song is pretty upbeat and though amazing and masterful showmanship, somehow he does not really seem distraught to be caught in a trap he cannot get out. The story is sad with love being destroyed by distrust. With Angelina I fully feel this sadness. She is so good at story telling and conveying emotions.
The little girls are her cousins and the bigger girl her younger sister. They give me the image of Angelina growing up wearing white dresses like Angelina wore. I have two daughters and one son. I love them all to pieces :-)

She has such an amazing voice, I've only seen her covering Amy Winehouse in the past. When I saw this video in my subscriptions I thought I had to check it out cause I didn't think there was any way she could get her voice deep enough to cover Elvis, but she knocked it out of the park. Angelina's voice has an intensity to it that doesn't derive from pitch, or volume, or even power but is from a more subtle (but no less impacting) source, an emotional connection (some say Duende ). Whatever it is, she definitely knows how to unfurl it and impact the listener. Good luck with those daughters!!
My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video:
First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.

What is amazing to me, is how she brings out the story of the song. No matter what she sings, when she is done, you know the story, you know what the writer had to say. So often the storing behind the song gets lost in the pomp and circumstance of the performance, with Angelina you get the story. Many of the songs she has covered I have just thought "Wow, that is what they were saying". This is one of them. I didn't get this from the Elvis version. I get it, get it big-time in the Angelina version.

This video was a family affair, with her Grandmother Mery Zamani as Ex-Producer, her Uncle Mike's two daughters, and her sister Juliette as the young girl growing up. The symbolism from the dust flying off the piano representing the past, Elvis's Black jumpsuit, and the red guitar he played during his come-back tour in1968 to Priscilla Presley's hairdo was pure genius in storytelling. Most of all, Angelina sang in a deeper mature voice, drawing you into "Suspicious Minds," told through Priscilla's perspective during their troubled marriage, slowing down the song's tempo and allowing the lyrics to tell the story. Angelina Jordan has developed her style of singing that sets the mood of all her songs. She is a pure Artist!

Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day.
Elvis' version is great and it always was, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own.
When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched.
Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. And she got Elvis’s ‘Oh Yea’ at the end of the song.
The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammys), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers.
The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister.

Angelina is a musical and human savant. She was given a gift from a higher power and she started learning and experiencing with it starting at age one and a half. She is the greatest artist, singer, composer and human being that has ever walked the earth. And this Angel who is just starting to spread her wings does this journey barefoot for humankind.

My best friend is a father to girls, well young women now. He has such a close relationship with them. He has encouraged them academically but also to travel and experience life. He had all brothers. He said he never wanted boys. He says he loves being surrounded by beautiful intelligent creative and self possessed women.
