At the time that Bryden Rivers joined the Nightswatch it wasn’t just criminals. It was actually considered a very prestigious calling for second and third sons of noble houses. When River left Kings Landing 200 of his archers chose to go with him. They certainly weren’t criminals.
that’s not entirely true. being a member of the nights watch was at one point very honorable, but we’re talking thousands of years ago. brynden rivers was sent to the nights watch as punishment for killing aenys blackfyre after offering a chance for aenys to make his case for why he should be king. his archers followed him out of duty, to continue protecting their leader.
Incidentally in a democracy of a couple hundred it would be all but guaranteed for someone to become lord commander if 200 of his followers went him.

On the original note, considering this series has made Martin very wealthy, he's been promising Winds for years by this point, and that some people have invested over two decades into this series and might never see the ending... Yes, he's an adult and he can do whatever the hell he wants, he could say tomorrow "I've decided to give up on A Song of Ice and Fire, I'm happybwith where it is, and Dance is now the end of the story," that's well within his rights. But it feels like a slap to the face of his fans. It's not a contract so much as it is a promise.

Blame that on HBO. The moment they announced the prequels, it became obvious a lot of the character development was going to be reserved for the new show.

Instead of actually good lore and story telling, they add a dialog between Bran and Tyrion talking about the wheelchair.

People fail to understand Bloodraven I guess. I just can't see him as a good guy; he's a very mysterious character in the books, his cave is full of humans skulls and darkness. Bran chapters in Dance are a few of the darkest the books have to offer. Bran goes beyond the wall thinking some magic wizard will fix his legs but instead he gets stuck in a cave with an ominous tree-living old man who wants to turn him into something he never wanted. Maybe in the books Bloodraven's trying to get Bran's body. And let's not forget that Bran probably ate Jojen Reed and a few Night's Watchmen.
Maybe the skull on the cave are past blood ravens like the skull on the cave in lost.
A lot of GRRMs work deals with hiveminds and finding afterlife in a specific network of species. I would have no doubt the children of the forest are as bad if not worse than the Others. They probably want control as anyone else since Westeros belonged to them alone. Seeing that their plan backfired on them in the show, they are just waiting for the humans to kill themselves or the dead wipe them out in order to regain what was once lost. Thats something we should have known about true intentions of the Walkers in the show.

@@Pool_Inspector I find it hard to believe that the Children are planning to retake what was once theirs. It seems like their species as a whole is just extinct and hopeless; considering how powerful they'd been before. Now, with the Night King gone with all his forces it doesn't seem plausible they'll return in the show. It's kinda sad that we didn't get to know more about them in the show, hopefully the next books will bring us some closure.

How is he a villain letting the woman who would have the whole world burn to be queen. And the woman who would have the Nobel houses war for her and her incest children kill each other off make him evil? Sounds like hes not choosing sides between targaryen or Lannister. But chose the side of the ppl and the future of the realm over bloodlines and house names.

I don't think a greenseer and the three eyed raven are the same thing. The three eyed raven is a special greenseer, more powerful than others and handed down the knowledge of the world like Bran was as Rivers was killed.

Could it be that the Night King was the 3-eyed-raven and that the children betrayed him? That could be a great motivation for the NK to kill 3eyed-ravens instead of "deleting the past", which time does very clearly since the north doesn't remember.
I don’t know because the Night King in the show and the “Night King” in the book lore were very different. The Night King in the show was just evil for the sake of being evil to simply give them something to fight. The “Night King” in the book isn’t even a character, but was simply written in history as the 13th Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, who betrayed his oath by marrying a female White Walker (White Walkers are supposed to be very beautiful and mystical looking in the books) and then proclaiming himself a king while allying with the White Walkers.

Branden had a dream once in the books. He went so far north past the wall and come to a place. This place was littered with dead green seers impaled, frozen on ice like spikes. This place tried to claim him too.
I remember this passage in one of bran's chapters because it was bizarre and never referred to again.

I guess you refer to Bran and his dream of falling. The place he saw that scared him was The Land of Always Winter but it wasn't claiming him. Either the ice spikes were, he saw many bodies of many others who tried to fly(greenseers) but they failed and were impaled. Bran was being asked to fly to not be one of those impaled.
And yes, many of us believe that BR tried to reach out for Euron but he abandoned the teachings after he realized how fucked up Euron was and now he's one of those impaled.

In the book JRRM always mentioned the tunnels underneath winterfile or in other locations such as Dorn or under castle black as it is network of roots also he mentioned that it is all the heart trees are connected that takes us to the pack between the first men and the children of the forest as they carved faces on the heart trees to make them stand simultaneously the first men began worshipping them and many more informations that can found in the book that directs us to the fact that the heart trees are just like a server who copies the memories of men though drinking their blood and manipulate the direction of the story.

When you said that part about how having a green seer on your side gave you a boost I had a good laugh. The show has made Bran so useless. All he does is sit there and look at people with a pitiful stare because he knows that they are going to die soon and the only thing he did to help the army was to tell them that when the night king came that he would be coming for him and him only. Not much help Bran.
In the show Leaf claimed to be around at the start of the Whitewalkers. After Bran has the vision of the Night King being born he said "It was you". She just responded that they had no choice..

So did the red comet serve no purpose or meaning in the show? I think the books get back to that because I thought it would have tied in with the plot of the Night King and be a warning of things to come every thousand years or so. Hope that makes some sort of sense (it's 4:00 AM and I'm getting tired), there was a lot more theory to it in my head but the show has skewed my memory of the books somewhat (though I might re read them shortly after the show ends).
I think Brynden is the real villian if you look at his history you will find out he was kingslayer,uses dark magic, and killed innocent son to revenge from his father ( maybe he want to revenge from daenerys and Aegon targaryen cuz their grandfather Aegon offered the option of taking the black or death , which Brynden accepted and join the night watch this is a summary about brynden history :
he was one of 12 basterd sons of Aegon IV. before Aegon IV death he legalized them as his sons. after Aegon IV death kind Daeron inherit the Iron throne. then one of 12 basterd sons of aegon called daemon started a rebellion against king daeron.
At the Battle of the Redgrass Field , the Raven's Teeth gained the Weeping Ridge and rained arrows down onto the Blackfyres from three hundred yards away, killing first Daemon's eldest son Aegon, then Daemon himself, and finally Aegon's twin, Aemon. The arrows are said to have been driven by Brynden's sorcery, and people later named Brynden a kinslayer. Daemon's death led the rebels to rout, but some were rallied by Aegor Rivers in a mad charge. The resulting duel between the rival half brothers left Brynden blinded in one eye and Aegor retreating.
Brynden became Hand of the King and master of whisperers, serving throughout the reign of his nephew, King Aerys I Targaryen. You know all the History but you did not get the big picture of all of it.
Bloodraven did horrible acts but all of those were to serve a purpose just as he said, and it was not an excuse. He was the one who has been orchestrating the coming of the Prince that was Promised, and each and one of those acts was done to serve that purpose. I recommend you to watch In Deep Geek's videos/theories about Bloodraven.
Not saying he did good things, he obviously didn't but that's basically the tragedy of House Targaryen and all those who have the curse of prophecy.
You literally cut out half the context to make him look worse. You failed to mention the reason the bodies were pilling up was because of a fucking plague that was killing his family that he was desperate to save so that's a point in his favour. He saved Daeron the good by killing Daemon on the red grass field. He protected the realm from the Blackfyre's and by all accounts was a good if ruthless hand. Even killing the Blackfyre who arrived at the great council was done because Aemon refused to wear the crown and no one wanted Aegon V as he was half a peasant in their eyes making the Blackfyre look like a better choice. After tearing apart tge realms in 5 rebellions the Blackfyres almost took the throne because the nobles hated the idea of a king who prioritised the smallfolk over the lords.

He definitely has greensight yet has no knowledge of it just like bran had no knowledge of it besides nanas stories and jon was never included in those because catelyn hated looking at him. Jon has two different bloodlines that both trace back to the first men which i believe are the ones capable of worging. You see the free folk behind the wall with their worgs they also have blood of the first men. Im curious why jon isnt able to control his greensight . He obviously had a green dream like jojen when he saw the freefolk tribe as ghost and then he was brought to the same place as a captive so it did come true. I want to know if there's more to it and why can't he control also why bran doesnt tell him he has the green sight then maybe jon would make the connection that he has the same thing

So everywhere I look is saying the population of Westeros is between 25 and 50 million people. If we follow the generalization that 1 in every 1000 is a warg and then 1 in every 1000 wargs is a greenseer then there would be around 25 greenseers in Westeros and thats not even considering Essos or beyond the wall. Where are they? Really the only greenseers we see are Bran and Jojen. You would think they would all play a bigger role than they apparently do

I'm disappointed of GOT's plots as in the end what I'm lead to believe now is that it's all chaos created by the magic of the children of the forest,either through NK or 3ER etc...
The whole game of thrones was a lie..and the story could have been far more better if they "explained" to people more of what's going on especially people who didn't read any book..
the 3ER got 1 or 2 episodes and so did the children , that made it look like a side story , while dany got almost all of the series as well as snow which made it the main story..
they could have put that coinmaster instead as king it wouldn't have made any difference to fans I think , both are side stories meant to enhance the "game of thrones"..not the opposite.
Personally , I thought that since the authors "permitted themselves" to change the story, that maybe they will come up with an ending that is worth the changes, but what's chocking and infuriating is to see they've kept the worthless "magical" tendencies where they don't belong.
Besides bran was made extremely powerful for mostly nothing , he could have become the lord of winterfell and then use his ultimate powers to make everyone else bend the knee like dany did,yet no...and considering how selfish he was and that he could have spared far more innocents from death than dany's fake madness ,bran is by far the ultimate villain here.
Finally jon snow is in fucking position to kill the queen.."thinking" she wouldn't be good is not a reason to kill someone..besides her history proved snow wrong.
Another chocking moment is when snow gets away with it: the dothraki , the unsullied and the dragons are extremely loyal to the queen, he must end up dead in all outcomes..why the hell woudn't the unsullied kill him??! why the hell didn't the dragon roast him after all he killed his mother??
GOT deserved far far better ending , and so did the international millions of fans.. I don't think everyone will ever heal from this bullshit.
