The ancient Celtic kings would have been racing for many thousands of years. I would love to see that. They can date ancient chariot racing at the Curragh to the 3rd century AD but it's obviously a lot older than that. The ancient coins as old as 2500 plus years often depict the majestic horse. Research and imagination. The racing culture is deep rooted in Ireland and I absolutely love the island's horse culture. Little doubt there would have been similar in many cultures across the globe. The closet I've seen is the beautiful artwork by Victor Ambrus. Well worth a peep online . He brings history to life. Just a seasonal aside for the festive bus.
