@@dionajamison9878it means actually make changes to improve your life, be intentional with everything that is bad around you to find how you can make the situation better, rather than just letting the bad fester or doing the bad without thinking or paying attention to it, find how you can make yourself pay attention find how you can get yourself closer, being intentional about your actions. And do what you can even if you can’t fix it, so you feel more at peace with it and in control of it, and more okay with yourself and how you handled it, since you did everything you could and you’re acting more in line with how you truly want to be/believe you should act. Etc.
Much better than positive thinking, or.. “think of it in a positive light, it’ll be okay.” Although that is helpful if you always challenge your negative thoughts.

I've been through more trauma in my life than most and have found that happiness is a choice. Practice gratitude, positive thoughts and empathy daily.
Rather than judging others, ask yourself what are some reasons why others may act they way do and try to put yourself in their shoes.
Take pictures of the beautiful sunrise/sunset/rain/fog...whatever weather, nature, person, animal, etc. makes you happy and be grategul you got to see it. Have those pics rotate on your phone or desktop to continuously remind you of what a joy it is to be alive!
Don't dwell on the trauma. It was but a drop in the bucket of your life. You may think that sounds so cliche, but it's true. Those who choose to dwell on their trauma, instead of finding the positive things in life, will always remain a victim.
I wish you all happiness and joy in your lives. May you find the strength and purpose in life that you need! 🤗

I like it, I can't help but look at the hose being just a flow of positivity. Our subconscious mind believes everything that it hears. It never sleeps and pulls on the magnetic resonance to bring you the stuff that you desire if you're aware of your desires, if not, it will giving you more of what you give your attention to, aka the thoughts that you feed it the most. Stay positive!

I don't think it's about ignoring trauma but to literally flush out the trauma. Acknowledge and making peace with it. The water didn't just become clean there was dirt and debris still floating around. As it does. I believe even as the water looks clean it's still changed. It will never be the water it was when he first poured it. There are probably microbacteria in there and if he let it go stagnant something funky would start to grow. And you don't get to see if he walked away how much stuff would end up in the water bc life just blows stuff your way. That's my view. I love this analogy..

Traditional Buddhism involves positive thinking all the time. Mindfulness is supposed to create self awareness so that you are aware of the negativity within you.
But McMindfulness preach as if closing your eyes and sitting will make you a Buddha. Not so easy.
Positive thoughts of Compassion, forgiveness should exist all the time or else Buddha will not awaken Inside you.

Every morning I do a series of breathing exercises intended to make me feel more positive (I have my better times, but I've just never been a hugely positive thinking person).. And what I do to feel more positive works.. and doesn't.. in the sense that any positivity I bring about myself simply doesn't seem to last.. I have wondered if its because I 'see through' my own attempts to overcome what may be somehow 'ingrained' within me.. But maybe THIS is a big part of the reason why I seem to default so much to a more 'negative' state of mind.. How I APPROACH trying to change what has built up within me over my life (60+ years, to now, btw).. and not to make these efforts (inwardly, mentally) SOMETIMES, but ALL THE TIME... 🤔👍
