"The Reno on the Move" -- Unloading the #11 Reno at the V&T

- Here's a video shot by a new contributor, Justin the Conductor. We're really excited to have him on the ground in Virginia City! I wasn't expecting this so soon, wanted to get it out first ahead of the other announced videos.
Justin caught up with the Reno as it was returning to Virginia City from the Great Western Steam Up, July 1-4, 2022 in Carson City, NV.
There's some great shots in here showing how the 32-ton Reno gently glides off the truck and onto the rails at the F Street crossing in Virginia City, NV.
The Reno is now back on display at the Depot while work is ongoing on the tender, back at the shop.

That's a nice exposition of the eight-wheel standard's tripod suspension sustem.
Great to see her being restored and back on her main line; sad to see she left old Tucson grew up around her being there! We will be there on opening day for the nightfall Oct 6th for the 30th anniversary we will miss the reno greatly!
I hope they keep the smoke stack, capped one, into the future.
Great she’s back home. Hopefully there are plans to restore to operating condition. I would love to see this engine return to service on. It’s on Railroad.
Yes, the plan is absolutely to preserve and restore to running condition. We want the "Reno" back in the movies!
@@VirginiaTruckeeRailroad that’s great news to hear now regarding the rebuild. I wonder what has to be done from the looks of it I think she needs an entirely new tender. Assuming she still has her original tender.

Mas dinero que todo el mundo! Well, it wasn't cheap. Tom doesn't discuss the number. We're just glad it's back LOL
@@VirginiaTruckeeRailroad I offered to buy it about three years ago but the Old Tucson folks would not discuss it with me and would not tender a price.
@@Fedora5957 I don't know the details of the negotiations. But I think Old Tucscon is shutting down so that probably changed their perspective.

@@Fedora5957 Tom may have really lucked out last year. My understanding is they were "indefinitely" closed since 2020 "due to covid" and also something like "long term tourism trends' but now in Feb 2022 supposedly there's a new operator www.kold.com/2022/02/17/old-tucson-will-have-new-operator-after-being-closed-two-years/
So my current understanding of the situation is they may wish they had the Reno back if they're gonna re-open. It appears they thought they were permanently OOB but are really back in business. Google Maps doesn't show them closed.
Imagine the rails are on a down grade and all of a sudden the Reno rolls down and becomes a runaway
Let's not. The rails ARE on a downgrade LOL we're very careful with the wheel chocks and chains.
Plus the Reno probably wouldn't roll that fast as of now 🤣
