Having 100/30 in service by next year is something I personally consider critical, depending on how much work 29 needs for her 1,472 day inspection. Hopefully, the fact that her current boiler is 15 years old means she won't have to have anything replaced and spend six years out of service like McCloud 18 did from 2015 to 2021. At a minimum, the V&T should have two steam locomotives in service, because I don't see the Commission letting Tom use McCloud 18 on the Gold Hill trains.
Yeah the 1251, totally IMO, was Tom's Dad's project that never got done. The 1251 is just sitting as usual in a corner of the yard. So much other exicting stuff going on, I managed to pin him down for this interview while he was prepping for the Christmas Train O'Lights and the Halloween Train O'Lights was running. Tom is a very busy guy.
Thanks for the updates!

We're working on being a two steam locomotive operations, plus the 18. Heck we're working on three steam locomotives, including the "Reno"
@VirginiaTruckeeRailroad does that mean you won't be able to have all steam locomotive running at once?
Will the Reno ever ride the rails again
We hope so, that's the plan for sure. takes time and money.
Is the former SP 0-6-0 still there? I think that steam engine was intended to be #30.
It is! It's taken a back seat to the 100 and the Reno though.

@@virginiatruckeeI heard they're trying to get rid of 1251 because, apparently, she exceeds the loading gauge imposed by Tunnel #4.
