I was there. It was magical... Despite of the Iro Maiden fans, that does not understand QOTSA's music... And I think Nick did a good job singing the song... But someday I hope that Josh will bring Scott Reeder to QOTSA...
I appreciate Kyuss so much in my life. Well, Josh & all he has done as a whole. We're priviledged to see all this great music by great musicians & even though fans often have disputes, deep in our heart we all love Kyuss and the great music of Josh & the whole crew from the desert.
fuckin' crowd didn't even burn the place down when he said he was going to play a Kyuss song. yeah they didn't know what was going on, 99% of the crowd was diehard iron maiden fans shouting "mai-den! clap clap clap; mai-den!" like cheerleaders. if only I was there...
@@cyberhorst you answered to a comment I made 14 years ago and I’m still here lol. It may be a worse version but it’s his song, so technically not a cover .
im sure nick can sing a hellova lot better than most of the people complaining about his singing. When the whingy bastards can sing at his standard while playing bass and being under the pressure of performing in front of a huge audience then they would have legitimate reason to complain..... KYUSS FTFW!! QOTSA FTFW!!!
Whoa !! Garcia was a great singer, granted at most shows he was wasted beyond belief, but on good days and in the studio he was great, just listen to him sing on Gloria Lewis, great control and great vibrato.
Thank you, this is what ive been waiting for! im glad to see it back. i love to hear nick sing it. he adds his own style to it. josh sure as hell can sing like that. but his solo is great. better than the original
It's not the same. We can agree the complaining people can't sing and play the bass even like this, but they don't try it in front of thousends of people, and that's the difference. When you stand on the stage, youshould know you'll get positive and negative reviews. And that's okay, that'sthe way things go, and if you don't meet the expectations and start shouting at them "stfu and try to do it better", you only prove that you're not a performer, but an asshole. I don't think Nick does this.
This man speaks the truth and nothing but the truth, I think everybody here can agree on it that Kyuss is world's best band.. It is beyond epic, it ledgendepicairy...
Nick did a decent job. He tried... But... John Garcia is the only person who should be allowed to sing this song. Nick couldn't hold those notes quite like John. And I agree with the previous comments about Josh not sounding sludgy enough. It kinda seems like they tried to remove any signs of Kyuss from the song. One way or another... it's still an amazing song.
their high point was really songs for the deaf because that was when they got the most recognition. i wouldn't say that they've gone downhill, it's all good music. It's just different musicians on each album, so naturally each album's gonna sound different compared to the previous ones.
I think some of you guys are being too harsh. Sure, Nick's singing is not as good as the original, but it's still pretty fucking cool. Garcia was just a freak, that's all!
he mutes using his right hand the notes that sound muted. with each part he's playing the same note, so it's 0 0(m)0(m)0(m)0(m) 7 7(m) 7(m) 7(m) 7(m) and so on. find the tab for it if you want to see how the whole thing is done.
So some Qotsa fans might not listen to Kyuss - big deal. Nevertheless, must've been an awesome treat to those who avidly listen to both bands. Can't wait to see Garcia live this summer!
how does josh play the intro? Does he just mute all top three string with his left hand and then tab the fret he wants to ring without mute? Or does he simply mute with his right hand and play top three strings and then just play the tone he wants to ring without right hand mute?
Why do so many Kyuss fans hate Nick's singing on QOTSA's Kyuss covers? I think its great and I'm a fan of Kyuss too. I was just a fan of QOTSA before Kyuss, maybe thats the reason I can't see what they're seeing.
would have been better with garica on vocals but hey i can only dream that there will be a kyuss reunion and a new album recorded and released and maybe a tour worldwide and maybe pigs will fly but i can only dream
I think Nick did a good job, the mix is bad, all you hear is cymbals, the snare is tinny, and the guitar is buried under the whole mix mess, but all in all they captured the speed and fury of Kyuss. I must say Scott Reeder is one bad mutha.
And even with garcia on vocals, it doesn't sound as good as with kyuss. I saw some video's of qotsa playing kyuss songs with garcia on vocals, but it doesn't have that real kyuss feel in it. but that really doesn't matter because homme is now in qotsa doing awesome things and garcia is doing awesome things too. but you're right, garcia is better than oliveri.
everyone hating on nicks vocals but i think he does a damn good job. its not his range but he hits it hard
A mi me gusta como canta
I was there. It was magical... Despite of the Iro Maiden fans, that does not understand QOTSA's music...

Normal. I don't understand iron's music either

Well spoken
it makes me sad that the audience dont know what Kyuss is :(
Yeah but at least they heard it. And Nick sang it----->
Wow, Nick's voice impressive! I was scared Josh'd sing cause his voice's so far of John Garcia's one, but Nick's one is awesome!
fuckin' crowd didn't even burn the place down when he said he was going to play a Kyuss song. yeah they didn't know what was going on, 99% of the crowd was diehard iron maiden fans shouting "mai-den! clap clap clap; mai-den!" like cheerleaders. if only I was there...
Damasio Rodrigues If Homme had decided to that in this day and age, the entire residing country of that concert would be burned to the ground.
That’s because maiden is the greatest metal band on earth.
rare shit. i've never seen qotsa playin' kyuss stuff
Hey, just be glad that you do. Was lucky enough to see them play the Rivoli in Toronto, with an audience of maybe 200. What a show!
It's not a cover ,since josh homme wrote it :P
It's a worse cover.
@@cyberhorst you answered to a comment I made 14 years ago and I’m still here lol. It may be a worse version but it’s his song, so technically not a cover .
Nick feels it, i think he's paying respect to those early years in Kyuss, with Bjork and the boys
Fuck, that solo is genius... It's not even that technically difficult...but I don't know how Josh gets to playing like that...he's got so much groove.
Fuck yeah!
Nick is a champ, met him at Gold Coast Kyuss Lives show!
Rippin it up with his style!
Only Garcia can sing this song. dammit
I think Olivieri does a good rendition…no where near as good as Garcia, but not bad
Snusfreak The only flaw of kyuss is have john garcia as a singer... terrible.
Ma va cacaci quattro etti di minchia.
this guys voice killed this song fak
I guess he just made it sound his, and that's all you really want, man! Respect to John Garcia though!
You know it’s a treat when Josh is on the neck pickup past the 90s...
Classic tune! Never forget!
when he said kyuss the fans had fuck all idea... not how it should be

Actually, nick also has a nice contrast of rough scream and gentle whispers en sounds in his voice
going back to his roots...i dig it
Both John and Nick's vocals are good and unique in their own way
Gene trautmann, the man is a fucking badass!
Isn't the guy who is singing "Nick Oliveri", the former Kyuss bassist (before Scott Reeder).
Hence, Shavo is Nicks copy :p :D
Whoa !! Garcia was a great singer, granted at most shows he was wasted beyond belief, but on good days and in the studio he was great, just listen to him sing on Gloria Lewis, great control and great vibrato.
For all those wondering, that IS Joey Castillo on drums.
No that's Gene Trautman
Paul Rudd on the drums
Ovation Ultra GP. Very rare guitar. You can find 'em sometimes on eBay, usually not less than 2 grand though. Eastwood's knockoff is around 700.
I think Nick did the vocals very well, I mean nobody can do it like Garcia of course but hell. Nick did pretty damn good.
Josh's solo 😍
Rock in Rio III 2001, opening for iron maiden.. gene trautman on drums
Thank you, this is what ive been waiting for! im glad to see it back. i love to hear nick sing it. he adds his own style to it. josh sure as hell can sing like that. but his solo is great. better than the original
Jesus fuck Oliveri can not play Reeder's bass lines for shit.
***** are you kidding? I never saw Reeder singing the bloody song either!
+Coldacre yeah, especially, wrong sound
Wow, I've head John Garcia do a worse impression of John Garcia
+sandersthepirate At least this one tries.
I love Nick's voice whether he's singin or screaming but he can't match John's with Kyuss stuff

Obrigado por disponibilizar essa raridade! QOTSA no BR. Valeu, irmão!
No one can sing like john garcia

fuckin awesome lead guitarist...
Yeah, please, that probably sounds incredible.
Eu estava la....
the bass is crazy scott bass writing , oliveri put more groove in it josh sick as always. gene drum break with josh guitar re entering was nice
Rock yeah!! Kyuss!!
I agree, you can't compare this to Garcia's singing, not by any standards.
People who disagree, just listen to the original one. You'll understand.
May I remind all of you this was QUEENS OF THE FUCKING STONE AGE playing the song and NOT KYUSS
Nick did a decent job. He tried... But... John Garcia is the only person who should be allowed to sing this song. Nick couldn't hold those notes quite like John.

The vocals weren't bad, but I felt like Nick was trying really hard to sound like John.
Morally Bankrupt and the Citrus was shitty as hell
chorus*
Julius He definitely was, I appreciate the way he stayed true to the original :)
Yes.
fucking HELL trio!
Thanks for the elaborate answer :)
Stoner Rocks!
3:55 is the best part of the solo, to me. just a great groovy sound
@Shakrai The fact that they're popular doesn't make them mainstream.
dammit they were about to go into "You Can't Quit Me Babe" !!
I didn't know his video exists :v
cool. !
grohl, IMO, was the best they had.
who is playing drums?
its definitely not joey or dave...
is it gene trautmann?
well he is the man who formed Kyuss and started the Desert Sessions so I think he's entitled to play some of the songs they created.
no, this is queens of the fuckin stone age!
hear, hear!!!!
fans in Brazil are the better =D

bottom lines guys is josh is the fuckin man and he is a rock god
I think some of you guys are being too harsh. Sure, Nick's singing is not as good as the original, but it's still pretty fucking cool. Garcia was just a freak, that's all!
truth
this song is so awesome from 3:10 onwards
The guy is Nick Oliveri - former bass player of QOTSA.
exactly
Oliveri's singing wasn't too bad, but honestly Homme probably could've even pulled it off better. Best choice would've been Lanegan though
yeah man you should hear his stuff in the knifes
he mutes using his right hand the notes that sound muted. with each part he's playing the same note, so it's 0 0(m)0(m)0(m)0(m) 7 7(m) 7(m) 7(m) 7(m) and so on. find the tab for it if you want to see how the whole thing is done.

Kyuss are near the same band, but i agree the singer of kyuss is missing
Too much bashing for Nicks singing. Sure its not technical and he misses the note quite often, but its got emotion and thats what matters.
Why do so many Kyuss fans hate Nick's singing on QOTSA's Kyuss covers? I think its great and I'm a fan of Kyuss too. I was just a fan of QOTSA before Kyuss, maybe thats the reason I can't see what they're seeing.
How is this quality of video 15 years ago...I mean it sounds a long time but what was the 2000s
wow....
he fucked up with the last bassline. and this is what i love about that song . the last bassline...
Gene is such a good drummer, he really brought a groove to the band, no offense to Alfredo
It feels good to be Brazilian and be able to read these texts that show up
What do they say?
@Shakrai Amen.
This crowd blows.
@strumming4Jesus
On the album, maybe.
Live, that's another thing entirely.
just about to go into you cant quit me baby
EEEtsi re file! Pes ta!!
Yes, I did enjoy the show. But don't be sad. I'll be back.
yip more of a Qotsa guitar sound than Kyuss. Still a great version tho
would have been better with garica on vocals but hey i can only dream that there will be a kyuss reunion and a new album recorded and released and maybe a tour worldwide and maybe pigs will fly but i can only dream
the fuckin NERVE!
Nice try Nick but John's voice is hard to match!
Prolly my favourite Kyuss song btw \o/
oh shit. are you sure that really happened? if it did we definitely need to find it.
C'mon... Garcia is awesome!!!!!!!
I think Nick did a good job, the mix is bad, all you hear is cymbals, the snare is tinny, and the guitar is buried under the whole mix mess, but all in all they captured the speed and fury of Kyuss. I must say Scott Reeder is one bad mutha.

when was it filmed ?
2000 or 2001 it was a Rock In Rio.
nice fucking song
trautmann is good
@Shakrai Queens of the stone age, mainstream?!
no way!! this is kyuss song and other can't play it
But he was the one that quitted KYUSS, and then KYUSS fell apart. But still he got my respect!
