580B Case Boom Hydraulic Cylinder Install

  • Today's video focuses on the process of re-installing one of the two boom cylinders on the 580 B Case backhoe. The point of keeping hydraulics clean and covered to eliminate water infiltration is stressed as well. Brief description of O-ring installation and the non-degradable washers that accompany them on many flex or swivel fittings.
    The next thing to do on the old tractor is another greasing of all points, topping off of the hydraulic fluid and going back to work. Many viewers are under the misconception that a specific procedure is required to bleed air from the system. But in fact, with normal operation of the hydraulics through a few cycles of the cylinders return the air entrained oil to the vented reservoir where it silently and effortlessly escapes. After the first use, it will be a good point to top off the reservoir once again. For the record for backhoes, the positioning of the cylinders for topping off the system is the normal position for road travel. That means the hoe needs to be locked in the up position, bucket curled closed and the loader bucket resting on the ground for safety, and the outriggers retracted. #Case580B, #hydraulicrepair, #oringreplacment

    Hi Wendell! Great job getting that cylinder back on the Case! Can’t wait to see you finish digging out that stump. Yes, indeed I do see why the missus thinks the blooper is hilarious. You should loop a few seconds of it and upload as a #short. Not suitable for kids though. LOL!

      A close look at a lot of videos shows many of myu shirts have holes in that general area....and for some reason they seem to align with the spark spray off the angle grinders.... Hmmmmm. Yeah, I set 'em on fire quite frequently. My duct tape patch fell off though about the time I started recording. LOL I'm breaking in another new tool pouch right now in my dress pants. I'll use it for that for 5 years or so then turn it into another work belt like this one.
      But I tell ya what, I just last year had this guy make me a leather dress belt for dress pants. I met him at a local "Heritage Days" at a town south of me and ordered one. It cost about 40 bucks but though not as heavy as these tool pouch belts it is a superior full LEATHER belt. He has a variety of designs he cuts into them or you can get a plain belt. I'd recommend him to anyone. It's: McPhail Custom Leatherworks. If you have Facebook, you can find information there or call 573-543-5313 and talk to him about his product. You won't be sorry. Super nice guy so far out in the woods you think you are lost or made a wrong turn....then there he is. But you can order online and have it shipped anywhere in the USA. He won't remember me, but tell him he comes highly recommended by a satisfied customer. Actually, tell him I'm the one with the big old Landis leather cutter I have and talked about in his shop. He'll remember that I bet.

    • @tractorman4461
      @tractorman4461  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wasn't hurt too awfully bad with the price tag Mike. I think it was about 60 bucks for whole kit including shipping. There was some fluid loss, but I'm guessing it was well less than a gallon. Its a small 55 acre private lake with roughly 65-70 property owners. My daughter has one of if not the largest piece of property in there with the addition of the new lot next door.
