4:48 I believe it’s meant to be his hat that he wears in Sly 2 as a first time field guy. He wears the helmet when he gets put in a wheelchair in 3. Minor stuff. The designs of the movie are slightly based on the second game (arguably the most popular) while allegedly doing the story of the first game. Not to mention incorporating character elements from 2 and 4 like Bentley driving in 2 and Murray being just a fat fuck who has to eat everything he sees from 4
the reason i didnt like the ratchet and clank film was because it didnt stick to the characters true personalities. Ratchet never did stuff to be a hero (in the first game), he did stuff coz he wanted to be rich lol. I was looking forward to the sly cooper movie ever since it got announced, me and a friend who were really into sly cooper would talk about it all the time. It hurts even more now since she has passed away.
"he did stuff because he wanted to be rich" uh no he had no goal besides just getting off of his barren planet with no plan afterwards and eventually becoming a hero due to seeing the damage caused by Drek throughout the galaxy building up to personal stakes via the planet he grew up on (Veldin), yes at points he had fame on his mind from other means but it naturally came from stopping Drek. All this was topped off with assistance and wisdom from clank throughout; starting a long time friendship and bond. Of course the movie doesn't do that any of that and has ratchet just wanting to be a galactic ranger with no character development. I don't even "hate" the movie but it's an objectively majorly flawed adaptation, this is coming from someone who mainly plays the series for its gameplay and art direction than the story or characters (although I do enjoy those aspects too).
I totally forgot they were doing a movie of this and got reminded just today because of a poll i saw asking which franchise i preferred......and now this Sly movie that i was looking forward to since its announced gets canceled years later......that sucks, it looks like it'll be a fun watch😢
@ryan jones Yeah makes valid points, though at the end of the day it's like what he said "the best chances for a new Sly Cooper game is through a Remake of the trilogy"

I was so excited about this movie. I used to watch my cousin play these games all the time as I wasn’t able to play them myself but I always wanted to.
Considering how lame the Ratchet and Clank movie was, and how weird the redesigns were in the trailer, I'm okay with the movie getting canceled. Sly Cooper deserves an interesting art style, like the movie The Bad Guys that Dreamworks made this year.
Yeah, The Bad Guys had the art style I could see working for Sly Cooper if he is to have a movie. It's a shame the idea for a Sly movie came during a time where studios wanted to make cartoony characters look uber-realistic.
I remember when an old friend told me that the movie will break the videogame curse. Wondered what hapend to it and assumed for the best that it's canceled
As someone who grew up playing the games, it hurts my heart that this movie never became a reality. Well, at least we still have dreamworks’ the bad guys, which is the closest we’ll ever get to a sly cooper movie.
Oh man sly cooper! The game my bro played endlessly just for me. It taught me how fun games are and the world it can build. My brother got really good at the series just for me to watch and it sent me down a road to get better and improve.
i still wait for it to this day. I was 10 years old when that trailer came out. I loved sly cooper, his personality, the the chasing love relationship of Carmelita Fox and sly, his best freinds bentley and murray. Still makes me cry from nostalgia. They were the best.
I remember when my dad showed me this when it recently had come out and i was a HUGE fan of Sly cooper, i had 100% every game in one sitting each multiple times and i played it so much and i loved sly and all the characters and every single game. So when i saw the trailer for the movie, i was ecstatic and i waited, and waited, and waited. So some time in 2016 i checked and i found out it never came out and it was cancelled so i was extremely sad. I was looking so forward to it, and there even was a reference to it in the Ratchet and Clank movie but no... No Sly Cooper movie and no more Sly Cooper games so that made me really sad that both my favourite game franchise and the movie of that franchise both stopped
Murray's design in the trailer just looked absolutely horrendous to me. Also, btw, Bentley does wear that hat in the 2nd (arguably the most popular) and 4th games.
theres a lot to consider here, for those like me who grew up with sly, we were excited yet skeptical, Sly 4 didn't come out for a long while after sly 3, not only that, it ended on a cliffhanger from the third game's cliffhanger LMAO. We were supposed to get a DLC in Egypt to find out what happened to Sly. (originally the Egypt episode was supposed to be episode 1 of the game). but we never got it :( then the movie got cancelled as well as a TV show that Technicolour was supposed to release in October of either 2020 or 2021. but because of Ratchet and clank failing, they assumed sly would as well. which i can understand from a business perspective that it *could* flop. But then I can argue about that official licensed funko pop of Sly that recently came out in July of 2021. IT SOLD OUT COMPLETELY HERE IN CANADA WITHIN THE RELEASE DAY!! I had to order mine through a friend in the USA and even then they were hard to find! people want to see this project succeed, I feel like there's so much more hype for Sly than there is for Ratchet and Clank, it's very well possible that if Sly cooper had released before Ratchet, it honestly might've not been that bad... maybe even shed some light on those skeptic about video games becoming movies, but its all personal preference at the end of the day. hopefully we get something....
The was going to be a Spyro movie based on the Legend of Spyro series. It was very very different from the old platforming games. The movie was originally going to be released back in 2009 but it was delayed multiple times then later canceled. But then the Skylanders came out with a Netflix show in 2016 but was canceled after the third season.
Ratchet, Sly and Jack & Dexter were so good back in the day. People would often compare these 3 and argue which one was better, but at the end of the day I haven't met a single person who liked one of these and disliked the others, all 3 were always beloved.
The three main reasons I can think of as to why the movie got scrapped: 1. There was a lot of negative feedback regarding Murray's design and Sly not being voiced by Kevin Miller but instead was replaced with Ian Jones Cortlett 2. The 2014 Sony e-mail hack leaked a ton of internal documents and may have revealed the movie's existence earlier than Sony wanted 3. The negative reviews from the box office bomb that was the 2016 Ratchet and Clank movie may have caused Sony to cut ties with Rainmaker/Mainframe Studios after the movie flopped
The main reason for the Ratchet & Clank movie being so poorly received (to my understanding), was the fact that Ratchet was pretty much transformed into this paragon hero selfless character, instead of being more of a well-written kinda selfish person with more depth than just being a constantly amazing person. That, & just plain bad writing in many people's opinions.
The series also lost the satirical edge that it used to have. The series used to have a lot more adult humor, but they changed it to try to be like a disney movie.
It just hurts to not get to see a Sly Cooper movie. Some of my fondest childhood memories are playing Sly Cooper with my dad. We STILL bust out the PS2 like every year to replay the games. We were so hyped when we first saw the trailer. It's stupid but I still have hope.
Bentley has the right helmet. If hes driving this would be before the end of Sly 2. Sly 2 he wore a fishing type hat and walked, Sly 3 he was in a wheel chair and had the hard helmet look.
Sly cooper was gonna be the next Lupin III.the Lupin III the first was the best movie I ever seen if Sly's have a comeback he's gonna act like Batman & Arséne Lupin throughout his personality.
I named my cocker spaniel after Sly Cooper. He sure lives up to his name. He is 4 years old. Tri color and he even has that black mask marking just like Sly Cooper 🦝. If you have food and it up on the table put it up higher. I caught him sitting at the table eating my food. He thought I didn't see him. He sneaks around and quietly climbs on stuff he steals food then runs. He is a silly boy. I say speak he has this cute play growl. We need this movie. We need a remaster of the original 3 games. If they are worried if Sly 5 will do well then remaster the original 3 and look at sales. Then ask people what they liked and disliked about Sly 4 then use that to help make an amazing game and get our raccoon out of Egypt.

Sly Cooper movie trailer is the closest thing we're not getting for Sly Cooper related outside being in shadows for a few trailers and a cameo in Ratchet and Clank PS4 cutscene the movie
The Ratchet and Clank movie failed because it didn't have much mainstream appeal, the games were a ways away from the height of their popularity, and it wasn't any good.

I literally gave them more material right there. 😕 rip... .... someone in the company said if we spam sly cooper everywhere, they would look more into the game and maybe put something out maybe.( basically lts at the bottom of the list..) Maybe if we ask them politely or help donate funds to complete it, I sure would..

Sly Cooper has all the right pieces for a killer 2D animated series akin to a saturday morning cartoon which would be appropriate given its inspirations in terms of looks, tone, and presentation. 4:52 Bentley did learn to drive in Sly Cooper 2, also Murray seems not able to drive at the moment.
Not to mention incorporating character elements from 2 and 4 like Bentley driving in 2 and Murray being just a fat fuck who has to eat everything he sees from 4
Ahhhh the designs being more akin to Sly 2 were exactly why i was fully on board with the style choices (minus replacing Sly's voice actor).
Thank you so much, Dazz. Thank you for covering this. You’re awesome.😊
the reason i didnt like the ratchet and clank film was because it didnt stick to the characters true personalities. Ratchet never did stuff to be a hero (in the first game), he did stuff coz he wanted to be rich lol. I was looking forward to the sly cooper movie ever since it got announced, me and a friend who were really into sly cooper would talk about it all the time. It hurts even more now since she has passed away.
I'm sorry for your loss
@@TerrorOfTalos it was an over simplification on my part but the point was that they ruined his original character
@@nemothesquid9782 ah ok, definitely was a low-key weird and relatively unfortunate time to be a RaC fan during 2016-2019 *especially* in 2017.
I totally forgot they were doing a movie of this and got reminded just today because of a poll i saw asking which franchise i preferred......and now this Sly movie that i was looking forward to since its announced gets canceled years later......that sucks, it looks like it'll be a fun watch😢
I’m still waiting for sly 5. It’s almost been a decade but I will wait as long as it takes. Please let there be a sly 5, don’t leave my man behind.
@ryan jones Yeah makes valid points, though at the end of the day it's like what he said "the best chances for a new Sly Cooper game is through a Remake of the trilogy"
@@elharvey5032 I’d almost buy a ps5 just for that
At least we have The Bad Guys.
Never thought of it like that but now that you say it yeah The Bad Guys is the closest thing to a Sly Cooper movie
@@kubackifilms6833 someone said that in the first Bad Guys trailer.
@@aaronjackson2126 I can believe that. And I know it’s not just me who thinks this.

Funny, i just remembered this movie like 2 days ago during a Sly Cooper nostalgia binge, and now you have a video on it!
I was very hype for this announcement back in the day, mainly the chance to see Clockwerk fully animated on the big screen. Shame it was cancelled
There will be a sly cooper game announcement by the end pf the year google it i was sooo fucking happy when i seen it
@@thepacoplaysbo2700 Sucker Punch (The makers of the first 3 Sly games) earlier this week just stated that no studios are currently working on a Sly game. I was holding out hope with these rumors too, but we just got a denial from one of the most primary sources we can get so RIP us I guess :(
Sly Cooper and the word "cancelled" practically share the same rent at this point.
After the success of Sonic 1 & 2 movies, with a Mortal Kombat Sequel on the way, and the Super Mario Bros. Animated movie to be released in December, the production team are gonna have to ride the train.
given the recent years have gotten accustomed to stylised cel shaded 2.5d CG animation the likes of Spider-Verse, The Bad Guys, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish a Sly Cooper movie would fit really well with this style akin to Bad Guys
This is a real shame, because we never got to see what Carmelita Fox looked like in this movie. 😢
0:03 Ahh.. My grandma's TV, what a cool TV it was.
We need to get Twitter on board for this, we have to get this movie made!

They cancel the movie and didn't even made enemy designs and Carmelita.
A Sly Cooper TV show made by the creators of Sonic Boom ?
I say YES !
This show is very underrated, and the french voices are great !
Technicolor also helped animate the “Captain Underpants” movie by DreamWorks.
I was So devastated when this Got Canceled
I was super excited for it
I really wish there was a sly cooper movie. I’ve had nostalgia for it for so long. When I saw the trailer a long time ago my kid heart was so happy. Sad it got canceled
Just let you guys know,Ian James Corlett is the voice of Goku for Ocean Dub so back then Dragon Ball have two different English Dub version.
He’s also a part of “PAC-Man and the Ghostly Adventures”.
I have a blog post where I checked out the many English dub voices of Goku. I’m not surprised that, since most of the DB English dubs are little known, Goku has as many as over a dozen English dub actors who’ve voiced him throughout the decades.
I was so excited about this movie. I used to watch my cousin play these games all the time as I wasn’t able to play them myself but I always wanted to.
You’re forgetting man they cancelled movie already 😒
@@tylermatthew349 I didn’t know that when watching the trailer for the first time lol
@@Kittyboi. yea but there was no release man unfortunately they already did cancelled since 2016 or 2017 i don’t know what happened to it
Considering how lame the Ratchet and Clank movie was, and how weird the redesigns were in the trailer, I'm okay with the movie getting canceled.
@@yokoyakamori6589 But would it work with the same character design as “The Bad Guys” and “Turning Red”?
I remember when an old friend told me that the movie will break the videogame curse. Wondered what hapend to it and assumed for the best that it's canceled
This movie would have been ahead of its time (especially if they used cell shaded) and maybe they could make it in the modern day
As someone who grew up playing the games, it hurts my heart that this movie never became a reality. Well, at least we still have dreamworks’ the bad guys, which is the closest we’ll ever get to a sly cooper movie.
Did you know theres a reference to sly cooper in Ratchet and clank when clank is trying to find out Ratchet's species
Oh man sly cooper! The game my bro played endlessly just for me.
It taught me how fun games are and the world it can build. My brother got really good at the series just for me to watch and it sent me down a road to get better and improve.
it looks so good ;-; why did they have to cancle it? it would've done good, ugh I hate when movie companies have no faithe in their movies
I love sly cooper and I still play it to this day
i still wait for it to this day. I was 10 years old when that trailer came out. I loved sly cooper, his personality, the the chasing love relationship of Carmelita Fox and sly, his best freinds bentley and murray.
Still makes me cry from nostalgia. They were the best.
It kills me that there is a 52 Episode cartoon series sitting in a desk somewhere
Thank you! I've been waiting for a video to be made on this for so long!
Always wanted to know what was going on with this movie. Thanks!
Video idea: The canceled of Treasure Planet 2
theres a lot to consider here,
for those like me who grew up with sly, we were excited yet skeptical, Sly 4 didn't come out for a long while after sly 3, not only that, it ended on a cliffhanger from the third game's cliffhanger LMAO.
The script for that was very recently leaked you know.
It cancelled already 😒
Ratchet, Sly and Jack & Dexter were so good back in the day. People would often compare these 3 and argue which one was better, but at the end of the day I haven't met a single person who liked one of these and disliked the others, all 3 were always beloved.
The three main reasons I can think of as to why the movie got scrapped:
1. There was a lot of negative feedback regarding Murray's design and Sly not being voiced by Kevin Miller but instead was replaced with Ian Jones Cortlett
2. The 2014 Sony e-mail hack leaked a ton of internal documents and may have revealed the movie's existence earlier than Sony wanted
3. The negative reviews from the box office bomb that was the 2016 Ratchet and Clank movie may have caused Sony to cut ties with Rainmaker/Mainframe Studios after the movie flopped
My money is on the third one.
@@yokoyakamori6589 You would be correct.
@@brianvaira486 Honestly I think that Disney movies are more mature than the Ratchet & Clank movie ngl
It just hurts to not get to see a Sly Cooper movie. Some of my fondest childhood memories are playing Sly Cooper with my dad. We STILL bust out the PS2 like every year to replay the games. We were so hyped when we first saw the trailer. It's stupid but I still have hope.
Honestly when I heard there was gonna be a movie about Sly I was so hyped. Then it was cancelled. Then I was not so hyped.
When you said "FNaF," I thought you said "Knack" and I felt nameless fear inside my heart.
Sly’s 20th anniversary is this September... Fingers crossed 🤞🏼
Bentley has the right helmet. If hes driving this would be before the end of Sly 2. Sly 2 he wore a fishing type hat and walked, Sly 3 he was in a wheel chair and had the hard helmet look.
Sly cooper was my childhood 😍
Sly cooper was gonna be the next Lupin III.the Lupin III the first was the best movie I ever seen if Sly's have a comeback he's gonna act like Batman & Arséne Lupin throughout his personality.
Imagine they release the movie with the style of DreamWorks "The Bad Guy's"
Yeah. Though, “The Bad Guys” has a similar character design style to “Turning Red”. It’s just that DreamWorks was more inspired from “Lupin III”.
@@spaceboyctstudios2934 I guarantee you they were also inspired by Sly Cooper too, just sucks they haven't admitted it
A classic case of seeing the results, drawing false conclusions and applying wrong solutions.
I thought the Ratchet & Clank film was okay/good.
Small correction, Bentley's helmet is the one he had in Sly 2, before his legs were..yknow. So technically not incorrect!

"Madagascar A Little Wild"
Me: It's Treason than.
With all seriousness, the Sly Cooper movie could've been a dream come true, but it didn't so I'm gonna go to sleep.
Here's to hoping that one day a sly cooper movie gets made.....
Even if we're not around to see it....
I've always wanted to play the Sly games but I dont have a ps3 but it's very sad that there hasn't been a Sly Cooper game in forever(and the last one ended on a big cliffhanger) and that the movie got cancelled but I'm glad that they are making a tv show now(Which I didn't know till this video) and hopefully it will be successfully and bring Sly and the gang back into the spotlight.
Edit: I just now got a PS3 and I got the Sly collection with it:)
Me and a friend saw both Warcraft and Ratchet and Clank together in theaters. We were the only ones there. same thing happened to us and another friend at Ghost in the Shell. None of these films were amazing, but I had a good time at all of them for the most part
Thank you for doing my suggesting Dazz 😀.
Sly Cooper movie trailer is the closest thing we're not getting for Sly Cooper related outside being in shadows for a few trailers and a cameo in Ratchet and Clank PS4 cutscene the movie
I think part of Ratchet's failure was coming out during Age of Ultron. Hard to compete against that.
@ryan jones You're right, it was Civil War that came out in 2016.
The Ratchet and Clank movie failed because it didn't have much mainstream appeal, the games were a ways away from the height of their popularity, and it wasn't any good.
After years of waiting, we got officially nothing at all. 😐
Would've been cool but oh well (edit)
At least we got Ratchet and Clank
I got into Sly Cooper during 2013 and seeing the movie announcement was exciting. Pretty disappointed that the movie was canceled.. :(
Damn, it's been so long ever since someone talked about Sly.
The only sly Cooper game I have finished is sly 2 I couldn't find out how to defeat the first boss in sly 1 I couldt finish the mission where you need to protect your plane in sly 3 and sly 4 just didn't work
Okay hear me out.
When I first played sly cooper last one, at the end, they had a cut scene where he was in Egyptish kind of area.
I'm watching my son play sly cooper and they cut that scene out! (Idk if someone other than me can confirm) 😢 to me.. that broke my heart cause it turned into a shit ending. We are already IN the story from when he was little to teen then Adult! Where are their happy endings? There kids they pass their book too?! The governments they have to fight?! Lol... I literally gave them more material right there. 😕 rip...
.... someone in the company said if we spam sly cooper everywhere, they would look more into the game and maybe put something out maybe.( basically lts at the bottom of the list..)
Maybe if we ask them politely or help donate funds to complete it, I sure would..
To be honest, if it would've been the same quality as the Ratchet & Clank movie we got, I am quite happy that it never happened..
Honestly sometimes I'm sadly reminded of this when i watch lupin the 3rd the first i don't know why but sometimes the cancelled sly cooper movie just comes to mind 🤷🏾♂️😖
Maybe it could be revived at Netflix like Nimona?
DazzReviews you might want to make three videos with one about the cancelled King of the Elves, another one about the cancelled Galaxy Gas and the other one about the cancelled Cosmic 3000
Still hurts me we didn’t get this movie 😪
man finding out that this movie was cancelled really bummed me out. I thought of the trailer just out of the blue a few weeks ago so I rewatched it. Hell I was more of a Ratchet and Clank mf growing up, but the movie for that was a serious letdown, this Sly Cooper one actually felt like it had potential and could've been a lot of fun
I cannot believe they didn't ask Kevin Miller to come back, he IS the voice of Sly, end of.
Esspecially since the franchise is 20 years old, would make sense
Only problem I have is you saying bentley doesnt have the right hat design. It looks more like a safari hat in the movie which i think is fitting and more of a speed biking helmet in the game which is fitting for the time and age demographic, which I was one
i like to think that the bad guys was originally a sly cooper movie, but changed im early production to another ip
I wish we could've seen what they made even if it wasnt finished i would love to see it
I didn't think anyone would talk about this canceled movie.
I played it since I was a child, and I was disappointed that it was canceled, I've finally seen someone talk about it for a long time now.
I enjoyed the games when I was younger and would love any adaptation since they don't seem to have any games planed... ever... lol
Sly Cooper has all the right pieces for a killer 2D animated series akin to a saturday morning cartoon which would be appropriate given its inspirations in terms of looks, tone, and presentation.
Unfortunately that would be considered a "Good idea" in the eyes of Sony Pictures and as we all know by now, Sony Pictures hates good ideas that their audience would unilaterally agree upon. Only bad ideas that no one but their studio execs would actually like for sole purpose of maximizing profits.
